Game Day Open Thread

VS

Week Sixteen: New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars

Location: Alltel Stadium @ Jacksonville, FL

Kick-off time: 1:00 pm EST

Broadcast: CBS

RB Fred Taylor is out with a hamstring, The Pat's are without TE Ben Watson (Who the Hell is Brady gonna throw to?) and NT Vince Wilfork (really hurts their run defense)

Jaguars.com Vic Ketchman says this is our defining game.  If we are what we say we are, we must win this game.

I'll be liveblogging right at kickoff, don't forget to hit up our friends over at Pats Pulpit

not much to know so far
Jag's defense is bending a bit, Brady's doing a lot of multiple WR sets, trying to set up the run a bit.

Offense has only seen Jones-Drew run/catch for 22 yards and an eventual punt.

Too early to tell, methinks!

Challange...
Should be overturned, ball was bobbling and was not secured till the right foot was out of bounds...

I really think "hurrying up and snapping the ball to prevent a challange" is counter to the spirit of the game.

Not that i'd imply that Tom Brady is unsportsman, but the practice in general is in poor taste.  It's in the interest of every team and every player to have every call as close to right as possible.  "Tricking" the system or baiting coaches to throw the flag before they are sure is a cheap tactic.  Win on the field, not through blurring of the rules...

RE
I see what your saying. But I think the system is so flawed that if you can take advantage of it, you do it. Case in point, the Bengals vs. Indy on Monday Night. After Chad caught a 20+ yard pass, the Bengals called a timeout and gave Indy sufficient time to review the play. After that, the play was overturned and then Palmer fumbled on the next play. I really feel after that, the Bengals had lost any momentum they had and played from behind from that point on. Just MHO.

In a sense you validate my point
The merits of a ref's decision should not be in the hands of a coach for better or for worse.

Of course, this is a decision that's gotta come in the off season and I don't see them changing it anytime soon...

You may get your wish. With Champ Bailey on Chad Johnson at 4:15 pm (make sure y'all visit.. ;-).. that may give T.J. a lot of passes his way. However, just a sidenote, the last time Chad and Bailey faced each other, Chad had 7 receptions for 149 yards and a 50-yard touchdown. We'll see. But I see T.J. have ample changes to make a difference today.

Running an interesting stratgery...

Spread offense, 4 and 5 wr's, but everything is short.

It's a running game with throws.

Are they baiting Jax for a deep threat or are they being covered up deep?
