Wide Receiver Dilemma in Jacksonville
I have heard that new wide receivers coach Todd Monken is challenging his players to take their games to a higher level, and the number of WR's vying for a roster spot is making it easy for Monken to make his point.
Free agent addition Dennis Northcutt is providing a strong example of the work ethic and veteran leadership. The other members of the WR club with the Jags are Reggie Williams and Matt Jones, veteran Ernest Wilford, hold-over Charles Sharon and rookie draft picks Mike Walker and John Broussard.
My personal opinion is that Reggie Williams was a bust when they drafted him and I have been proven correct so far. Looking at his performances so far he has a lot to prove in order to earn a roster spot this year.
Matt Jones has great athleticism, but he has had injury problems so far in his career. He has to prove he can handle the strain of the season without getting injured. He has great potential but in order to realize it he has to be healthy.
Ernest Wilford, to me, is the most productive of the receivers and is almost guaranteed a spot on the roster as long as he continues down the road he has been on since he was drafted.
I don`t know much about Sharon. He was Bowling Green's all time leader in Receiving Yards and Touchdowns. He has a lot to prove in order to earn a spot with the Jaguars. according to reports from the Jags OTA's he did just that and showed great potential.
Considering all Mike ( Skyman) Walker has gone through already and his comeback season from knee surgery at UCF, he is bound to become a major offensive weapon in the Jaguars aresenal.
I also do not know very much about John Broussard. I hear that he ran a 4.34 at his pro day workouts and that is all I heard. He also has a great task ahead of him to make the team. He can with his speed if he has the hands and discipline to go along with that speed.
My opinion is that the odd man out this year may end up being Reggie Williams. He hasn`t proven anything to me and has had the opportunity to do so many times. That is where I stand on the WR stiuation for the Jaguars

I disagree with a fewpoints...
Charles Sharon has been talk of the town during the OTA's, he's established himself as the best WR during the "underware practices".
It's going to be a shame if we let Ernest go, he's a fan favorite and a good guy.
