Jerry Porter

For some reason I think when the Jags come back from their bye week Jerry Porter is going to be a huge part of out offense. I think Del Rio is just setting up the media to think  Jerry  won't be back yet but I think he will be, and I think we will see a lot more of  him and Troy Williamson sooner than later. I sure hope so anyways. The Jags need a reciever like Harrison, Wayne,Johnson or Owens on the field every week and we haven't had that yet this year. Matt Jones is our best reciever this year and I am happy for him that he is getting to play more. I don't know for sure but I believe  Matt Jones numbers are way  lower than any other teams number 1 reciever this year. With the Jaguars being so far down in the division now we need much better recieving numbers than we have had these past 6 games if we are going to make it to the playoffs, and I believe Jerry Porter will give us those numbers.

Hey

Couple of things:

1) I hope you’re right about the 2 of them being a big part. Troy had that great bomb on sunday, so that leads me to believe he is breaking in.

2) I never thought I would love Matt Jones like I do now. I wanna hang with the guy on weekends.

3) NUMBERS DON’T MATTER, WINS DO!

4) We are not that far down, bro.

5) Why do receiving #‘s have to be bigger? Sorry to break your heart, but Our running game will be getting the better #’s with Big Meester coming back.

6) Jerry will get there

I couldn't hang with Matt Jones

My heart would explode! I wonder if he is still all mellow and laid back when he is doing coke,or if he gets all excited .

Back to Porter

What do you mean Jerry will get there? Do you mean you don’t think he knows the offense yet or do you think he hasn’t recovered from his surgery yet?

Sorry to break it to you

Jerry Porter is never going to be a Harrison, Wayne, Johnson, or Owens. He never has been and he never will be. He is good enough to be our number one receiver and I agree that he is going to have a big role in the offense after the bye week. But he’s never going to be among the league’s elite. In Oakland he played second fiddle to Randy Moss, even when Randy didn’t care about the game, and when Randy left last year he was still unproductive. I’m optomistic that he’ll be productive for us, but I’m amazed at how many Jaguar fans believe he is the savior we’ve all been waiting for.

For 30mil he better be a savior. We need to use our receivers and our quarterback to their full potential. Garrard is quite capable of throwing the long ball. Controlling time of possession with quick slants is a good strategy with minimal risk, but the big plays are what really swing the momentum of a game. I’m not saying do it a lot, just enough so we can make teams respect it. Porter should be the guy to make those plays happen and I’m starting to lose patience with him. Six games and one catch isn’t acceptable. I’ll delay my final judgment until he claims to be at 100% but how long will it be till that happens?

3 games, he's been in 3 games

Plus, it may just be the coaches fault he’s not getting looks.

Porter just needs more time

it takes our receivers some time to get worked in. There is a lot of precesion involved. That’s especially true with the types of passes Garrard is good at. He’s good at slants and such. I might add if you were even slightly off the mark you can have a pick 6. And if you ever watched Porter in the past this is not the system he’s used to, but he could excel in it eventully.
Personally if I were one of the other receivers I’d pretty pissed off if some new guy coming off an injury was producing more then I was. Just doesn’t seem logical if you forget about the money. And as far as I’m concerned, if I was a coach, I stop concerning myself with the money as soon as the contract is signed. It’s all about winning.
