I reject the premise
I’m sorry, I just can’t start wrapping my mind around the 2009 draft just yet. That’s talk to begin in 2009.
That said, Offensive LIne will have to be our top priority. A guard or tackle.

Not sure why everyone is so hard on Mike P.
Whay is everyone saying Mike Peterson is done when he (in my opinion) is one the hardest workers if not the hardest worker on our defense. Just watch him carefully during the game. When he is not the first one to the ball he sprints across the field to help finish the job. I’m not addressing your comment in particular, I just can’t figure out why everyone is talking sh*t about him when he LEADS our team in tackles. Hell, last game he had more tackles than all of our other backers combined.

To get back to the topic at hand, I think our team has plenty of depth at LB for the time being and should address the front four before we do anything else.

I agree...
that a DT might be good or an O lineman or two. I also agree that if Mike P. is gone next year, the Jags would be fine with D. Smith in the middle, with Durant and Ingram on the outside as the starting line up, and possibly draft some depth in the later rounds. I am, however, with Vic K. on BAP draft. I hope the trading lesson is over and we can just remain in our slots (for the most part) and draft the BEST AVAILABLE PLAYER! That would be just fine with me.

I'm with Chris,
we should draft the BAOL. BEST AVAILABLE OFFENSIVE LINEMAN…. repeatedly.

It's all about the DT's
We will be getting most all our interior o linemen back next year. Alex Mack the consensus top center in next year’s draft is not the best fit for our system. He would fit really well with the Colts. He doesn’t look strong enough to play our type of power runnning game. IMO you should never get owned by a 215 lbs. freshmen linebacker going about the same speed as you going head on if you are a top center. He also got regularly owned by the DT’s at UCLA, I know they are good DT’s.
If we have at least one really good DT, every single aspect of our defense will get better. I mean every single aspect.
However, if we do not retain Khalif Barnes, forget about best available player. We have no choice but to get another LT as we have no other option at the position.

last year our O-line couldn't pass block if their lives depended on it....
but were great a run blocking. Now they finally had a good game at giving protection …. and couldn’t make one 12 inch hole in the line on run plays. They suck and need to be overhauled in the draft.

my two cents (actually, only ONE cent in this economy. HA!)
Short, but sweet… I hope we get one GIANT guard or tackle… I’d like to see a huge, road grading, high motor, guard… Who knows this early though, right?
