Vikings vs Jaguars questionnaire

Hi Jags fans!
Whats up?

I have a few questions regarding tailgating, things to do, and places to eat in your beautiful city of Jacksonville.

My girlfriend and I are coming down in November to see our Vikes play your Jags.
In addition to being a long time season ticket holder of the Vikings, I travel once a year to see the Vikes get beat on the road.
Er…I mean, to see the Vikes PLAY on the road.
Whatever.
This year, we will be making the trip down to Jacksonville!

I will be staying in Jacksonville for 4 days and would like some advice as to what to do and where to go.
I have a bunch of questions for you, so here we go:

#1 - Where should we park to tailgate at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium?
What price range will it be?
Do we need a parking pass to tailgate?

#2 - Have any of you been on a Jacksonville Municipal Stadium Tour?
Would you recommend it?

#3 - What are some good restaurants in Jacksonville that you would recommend? I would like all of your favorites…Cheap places as well as steakhouses. I would like to try a few of them!

#4 - What is a good local bar to go to? I am too old for clubs. I like unique places, places that stand out, or pubs with nice beer selections.

#5 - What are some good live local bands that play around?
I like rock music. Pretty much all types of rock, alternative, pop, funky, whatever.
What about a good venue to see them play live?

#6 - Where is the best vantage point of the Jacksonville Skyline? What about a bar patio with a great view?

#7 - What are the best beaches to visit?

#8 - Bloody Mary's and breakfast. Who makes the best bloody Mary, and what are some good breakfast joints?

#9 - Are there any "Best of Jacksonville" sites or links that you could tell me about?

#10 - Anything else that you would recommend an out-of-towner to see or do?

Thank you VERY MUCH for your help.

Answers...to the best of my ability...

Welcome to Jax! My home town. I hope that you enjoy our city and the game! Here are a few suggestions/answers for you while you’re visiting.

1. You can park pretty much anywhere you want on the East side of the stadium for appx. $20-25 without a parking pass. You’ll want to tailgate before and after since the traffic getting out is pretty tight. No parking pass is required in these areas.

2. I had signed up for a tour but have not been able to get in yet. I was told they only do tours during the offseason, but I think it would be awesome to see.

3. Restaurant suggestions: Cheap, but fun sports bar would be AJ’s Bar & Grill 10244 Atlantic Blvd Jacksonville, FL 32225 (904) 805-9060. Medium price, but also fun is The Jacksonville Landing in downtown. Lots of restaurants including but not limited to “Hooters” and “The American Cafe.” More expensive but great food in downtown is “The Chart House” and Ruth’s Chris Steak House 1201 Riverplace Blvd Jacksonville, FL 32207 (904) 396-6200 (the best steak house I have EVER been too, but like I said, high dollar) If you want to get out of the downtown area, you have gotta go to Clarks Fish Camp Seafood Rest. 12903 Hood Landing Rd Jacksonville, FL 32258 (904) 268-3474. Simply the best seafood around!

4. Local bars, like I mentioned before AJ’s is OK. There is also The Amsterdam Sky Cafe Bar 234 A Philip Randolph Blvd Jacksonville, FL 32202-2216 (904)355-5535. I think it’s the closest bar of it’s kind to the stadium, and is open before and after the game. Just west of the baseball stadium.

5. As mentioned before, the Jacksonville Landing is OK to hang out during the weekends, and there are a few live bands that play in the open court yard on Saturday’s.

6. The best vantage point of the skyline that I have seen is from my balcony staying at the Hyatt Hotel overlooking the Saint Johns River. Not too many buildings in the way facing South. The American Cafe at the Jacksonville Landing has a nice patio view and is on the second floor overlooking the St Johns also.

7. The best beach is south of Jax beach. Jax is OK but usually crowded and has a bunch of building development all along the coast. If you drive south, visit St. Augustine beach. You can drive on the beach in certain areas and is usually not crowded. Further south is Cresent Beach, much less crowded, very nice white sand!

8. Can’t help much on the bloody mary part, but there is a good Cracker Barrell off of Butler Blvd, south of the city. Not too many good breakfast places that I can think of off the top of my head…

9. Jacksonville sites… hmmm… The Florida Times Union site usually has a section of the “happenings” in Jax. It is www.jacksonville.com. http://www.discoverourtown.com/FL/Jacksonville is also a good one for food sites.

10. If you are going south toward St. Augustine beach anyway, you must see the Oldest City. St. Augustine is an awesome place if you are into American history at all or just want a really nice place to walk around and check out the shops and sites. Right on the river and very pleasant area.

Im sure that I left a few things out by accident but I hope you get a little bit of helpful info. out of this. I love this city and I hope that you guys enjoy your stay here! See you at the game!!!

I am all about cheap eats...

try Five Guys Burgers and Fries or my favorite, Ted’s Montana Grill.

Ted’s ROCKS!!! ( try a Bison Burger or the Bison Meatloaf )

Oh and...

Since you travel to see the Vikes get beat,…. we don’t mind if y’all lose to us, that would be cool with us.

Thank you tremendously!

I totally appreciate all of your responses!
This will help my trip out quite a bit.
There are some places and ideas that I never knew of until your post.

THANK YOU JAGUAR FANS!!!
You are a classy bunch.

Good Luck to your Jags for the rest of the year with the exception to the Vikes game…I don’t thing that they need any luck with that one!

Yeah, .... I see what your doin'

Tryin’ to lull us in to a confidence, “…see the Vikes get beat….they don’t need any luck with that one” , and then when we least expect it,….. WHAM ! Y’all really bring it !

Nice Jedi mind trick, but we’re on to you. We will be ready to play like y’all are the ’72 Dolphins. Ha,heh, heh.

Good luck to y’all, too.
