If your QB is crappy, just play the Jaguars. We’ll make ‘em look better! Sucky offense and Rashean get’s beat twice for TD’s. Time is winding down faster for the Jags to make anything of this season.

I would compare

us to Miami of last year, but they had a defense

coaching

jaguars have established absolutely no identity this season. i really think they coaching staff needs to be evaluated del rio has brought us one playoff win in his five years here. The talent of this team is NOT the problem. There are teams competing and winning without half the talent we have.

If I didn't know

That the Bengals got conservative in their play calling, I’d have to say our Defense got more stops after Big Hen left the game. But I think the play calling got conservative right after that.

The real problem is...

Our offensive line is poor, Garrard never seems to have enough time and the Running Backs have been limited to almost nothing.

by Jagz8 on Nov 2, 2008 4:17 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I agree

Hard to blame Garrard for anything. The fact that he completed any passes is impressive considering he got pounded on about 90% of our passing plays while the o-line turned and watched with their hands on their hips. No discipline, no effort. There’s not much you can do with a pocket that lasts about 1.5 seconds. Pashos is turned from being a leader to a penalty machine. Injuries or no, no professional offensive line should perform like that.

I strongly believe that if Rashean gets that first pick, we pound them, no contest. It would have been the bengals who had laid down and quit.

Montell Owens and Nkang are the only ones who deserve to go home with pride. Well maybe MJD too even though he didn’t have a chance to do much. To think that Fred came in with 19 to gain 11,000 and we couldn’t get it done. That’s not him, it’s the line.

I’m just going to think of the rest of the seaon as a gigantic pre-season for next year. I feel like Peter from office space, I just don’t care anymore!

Yeah but,...

there is a reason that receivers on other teams get open more. Garrard never looks off anyone. WHEN, he gets past the second receiver in the progression he stares them down. I am amazed he completes any. I think that as a person, he is awesome. I really like Dave. But come on man, without Scobee’s foot, we are 1 and 7. That is not leadership or good play.

I’m not gonna throw any expletive words out there at you, but you need to realize Garrard is the only one doing anything! It’s not surprising he completes any. Use your mind when you write something. He’s a good QB and you were singing his praises last week. and we would be 2-6 because scobee hit it in Indy and Houston.

you are right...

I DO give credit, when credit is due. But when it is not I am not gonna’ pretend. What was Dave’s rating today? Oh and, do the math 3 minus 2 is one. Like I said 1 and 7.

No offense to ya' man...

I normally like your input your a pretty smart kid. But go back and watch the game if you recorded it. On the sack that came from up the middle, the reason Garrard never saw it coming is that he never took his eye off of the first receiver. Watch it and you’ll see what I am talking about. That will get you yanked at a good college team.

half the line were "on the street"

bare in mind that half our line were “on the street” at the start of the season. How good could they possibly be. Injury is main issue with line this year. Not developing young players seems to be an ongoing theme for this team.

Rebuild for next season – 1) go get a stud receiver (Mike Crabtree should be coming out – go get him) 2) start developing youth in both offensive & defensive lines 3) get some pass rushers

by OGN on Nov 3, 2008 7:11 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

well i think the offensive line is the obvious problem but i think it is still good enough to win with, the defense seems like it leaves its intensity in the locker room every first half

anyone remember...

this game should of been over when chad ocho cinco BURNED rasheen and fitz overthrew him…we now have almost no chance of making the playoffs…jerry porter looks like he gets nervous every time a ball is thrown at him…im sick of trying to be positive with this group…we officially suck and i’m starting to get worried about losing this team completely when we start blacking out games again

Did anyone see how full the Bengals stadium was? Why can’t our fans be like that? So we are having a bad season, get over it and enjoy a good day of watching football for a reasonable price. I hate losing too but it’s just the way it is, can’t be good every season.

Thank you, rusty904...

that could be the most accurately stated, thought provoking statement I have ever read on this post. What is up with our fan base? You hit the nail on the head. It’s a shame more Duval residents don’t feel the same way.

Talent?

I’m sick of hearing that we have the talent, it is some other problem. Show me a player with talent on the offensive or defensive line, please. We can’t block, we can’t tackle.

season (almost) ender

Mike Smith going to the Atlanta Falcons is what I see as the downfall of this defensive team, just look what he did for for those guys..granted the offense looked good last year, the acquiring of Gregg Williams was a bust, along with our penchant for big $$ free agency problems, JDR just cant seem to put all this together. He ( or Shack) are the ones with this season on their shoulders, this Jaguar team has P L E N T Y of talent, but just cant seem to get this machine running on all cylinders, losing 5 games by a total of what? 20 something points? Clock management was an ally last year. How do you try and manage the clock from behind time, and time again? Garrard, MJD, and the crew can be nasty when aggressive. This seasons play calling has been waaaay to conservative. It takes points too win. How many 30 point games have we seen this year?? (it was a huge point first part of last season) I see the Jags winning next week 38-6

Garrard has thrown the ball 30+ times 5 straight games. How is that conservative?

Lions

almost beat Chicago yesterday. No one is as bad as their record, except for maybe us.

Our defense was faltering last year. We may not have realized it as much because we were winning. Think about Big Ben coming back and almost winning, or Tom Brady having a near perfect day on us. Our Offense had to come back and win the Pitt game, and our O couldn’t keep up with the machine in Foxboro.

I think we didn’t realize how bad our D was last year. We called out the coaches after the Pats game, but they did what they could with what they had. This year, Williams is trying to do more than our guys are apparently capable of.

by Pyrofish on Nov 3, 2008 9:06 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

Our D started to struggle last year, it just wasn’t as noticeable because our O-line allowed Taylor and Mojo to run riot. I agree with Vic – it’s not because of Greg Williams. Our D players are either off their game (Henderson), older than last year (our linebackers) or too young to have learned enough yet (our two rookies).

We do have talent, but it’s the players who havn’t put it together yet, not the coaching staff. Having said that, I do think some our play-calling has been …. weird.

Next couple games crucial

Football season is very short so I want to keep it exciting before it ends. I feel that if the Jags win the next two games at Detroit and then at home against the Titans, we can make a push for the playoffs at the end of the year. A win at home against (possibly) undefeated Tennessee would give us that spark to turn around our season.

I love it...

I love your positive thinking! A little bit of a stretch, but positive none the less. Go Jags!!! The season is not over, yet…

I cant tell you

how pissed me and my dad were at the 2 pt conversion call. We’ve got Mjd and he needs two yards. THINK ABOUT THAT FELLOW JAG FANS!! Two yards?!?!? MJD gets that everytime he touches the ball.he couldve just weasled into the endzone, but nope. Dirk has to put that huge risk of an incomplete pass in the air, and sure enough it falls incomplete. Just horrible play calling by Koetter this year. He may be our problem. Or is it Jack?

by harveyismyboy on Nov 3, 2008 3:50 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

damn, right.

32 TDs in 40 games. MJD is the man.

It would've definitely been better than the pass

but I was personally calling for a QB draw. Not a sneak, but a shotgun play with a draw. I would’ve rather trusted David Garrard to get in, and even if a linebacker was there, he probably would’ve still got in.

by SoCalStites on Nov 3, 2008 6:59 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Totally agree

I 100% agree with this. Not only do we have MJD, we also have a million receivers who are over 6 foot 5. Why not just lob it up in the air on a fade and get Matt Jones or Reggie Williams to jump and get it. Terrible day for Koetter yesterday.
