No, Spicer will be a horrible play.
He’s playing poorly and is mainly used as a Run-stopper… You’d do better to pick up someone else. Third downs usually bring the rookies in to rush.

Well, We had one sack against an atrocious line last week in Cincinatti, so I'm not sure anyone would be a good play.
Plus, our only sack was a direct result of a LB rushing, and not pressure on the front 4.
Reggie Hayward would be a betet play than Paul Spicer… Derek Landri (DT) may be an even better play than both. He’ll see more action this week because of Henderson’s injury and he’s our best pass rushing DT. Our DE’s just don’t bring pressure.

I'd be almost willing to bet
Daryl Smith will get a sack because of a couple of reasons. The Detroit line sucks, Culpepper is new (to their team), our D line will be shaken up and will become more pass rush oriented with Henderson gone, and I’m not so sure Mike Peterson will be starting.

I wanna just toot my horn
I knew it. While a lot of guys got to the QB, Smith was one of 2 guys that got 1.5 sacks and he got 5 tackles too, good for second best on the team.

Nice call
As soon as I saw the sack I remembered that you called it and I wondered if you would mention it.

I really really like Landri and Kennedy. McDaniel is good too, but I don’t think the coaches have him in there enough. Same with the other two. Meier is a mistake. I liked him up until this year. He is never never never getting off his man and is smaller than everyone he faces. He’s just a dud. Put Kennedy in there because the guy is overwhelmingly big and eager to prove hes worth a 1st round pick. Landri weasles into the backfild and has a quick first step. I hope we sign them both long term.

Landri has 3 more years left on his rookie contract after this season, and Kennedy is on a 1 year deal.
Meier signed a contract for 3 more years I think… He’s a perfect example of a player playing “up” during their contract year. He’s nowhere to be found this season.

Don't judge to harshly
Meier Has been playing on a beat up knee, and he’s playing out of position at times. They are trying to get him to run the stop and he’s just not that type of player never has been and never will be.

Yeah, okay, then just tell me what good a DT who cannot and will never stop the run is. haha I just think you explained that he really does not belong in there RIGHT NOW. What other position could he play? I see your point but still think he should be pulled more in favor of Landri and Kennedy, who both got sacks today, as well did Meier, i think

Well if you're looking for a big run stopper
Meier is a better option than Landri. Kennedy I’ll agree with but Landri is a smaller guy who relies on speed.

I'm not saying he should start (Meier)
In fact I was one of the guys during the preseason that said I didn’t like how he was playing and people gave me hell and told me I had no idea about what I was talking about, and that we played better when he was in there vs Stroud. Truth is, some players’ production fall off when they play more, like a change of pace back. He’s a 3 tech and shouldn’t be out there on running downs. He looks tired after a while and tends to not be ready when the ball is snapped. He looks old and overweight, like he tried to gain too much weight in the offseason so he could become an everydown DT, because of lack of options.
Personally I think Landri should be starting. He’s actually been our best DT so far, IMO. He gets penetration, holds his ground, gets off the ball quickly, commands 2 blockers more often than other players, and he plays hard on every snap.
I think Meier will be more productive if he was rotated out more often.
I agree Kennedy has been playing well, but he has a lot of flaws in his game. The flaws haven’t been exposed so far this regular season, but they were there this preseason. And if he plays too much he will be exposed again.
