Jacksonville Jaguars seeking trade for Lito Sheppard?
Cole Pepper of WOKV Says:
Lito Sheppard is one of the most accomplished football player to come out of Jacksonville since Bob Hayes. The two time Pro Bowler from Raines High School might be coming home. Reports in Philadelphia say the Jaguars have been discussing a trade for the Eagles cornerback. The Jaguars already have one Jacksonville native at corner, Rashean Mathis. Sheppard would be a good addition, although the Jaguars already signed Drayton Florence in free agency and already have Brian Williams on the roster.
Cole is close enough to the team to get a no-go sign from the Jaguars if this were "just rumor". Keep this in mind.

There is no way that this happens.

I'm dying for more infomation...
Best I can tell is that the trade itself is already negotiated, it all hinges on how Lito is compensated.
Imagine this secondary:
Mathis/Shepard: Left and Right CB’s
Florence: Nickel CB (for the Jaguars, that’s like 50% of their defensive plays)
Williams/Sensabaugh: Safties
Nelson: FS
The five of them should give quarterbacks nightmares…

Lito and Jason
ESPN respots that Jacksonville is in contact with Lito’s agent and all they have to work out is his financial compensation. Lito will be a Jag.
Also, all we offered Miami is a 4th rounder for Taylor… peanuts.

Williams to safety
Espn reports Williams is going to safety if/when the trade for Lito goes through.
I bet we ditch williams altogether.
Hopefully Matt Jones goes to Philidelphia in this trade

hmmnn
If Philly wanted Jones, I’d be happy to include him. I wonder if they’re still nuts for him like the were in his draft year.
I hope that if Jones is included the Jaguars give up less future picks. I’m starting to worry.

Williams will not be cut
No way we cut BW. Moving him to safety affords us the luxury of slowly bringing Sensabaugh back. Bringing in Lito is a smart business move as he is a very well known ball hawk, albeit with some injury issues, that can take it to the house. According to Vic Ketch, Brian would be “lights out” at safety and I for one think if the trade goes through Manning would find it very difficult to throw on us. It’s a move that makes a whole lot more sense than trading for Jason Taylor.

I'd agree,
Williams is secure, though he might be unhappy to see the Jaguars replace him twice over through this off-season. Though BW’s contract was nice back when he signed it, by now it’s looking like he’s a pretty inexpensive player.
BW getting good money to play safety is OK, but what do you think of Drayton Florence getting starters money to play nickle CB?

whoa whoa whoa
Since when is 6 mil cap hit not starter cash?
BW has practically the same cap number as drayton florence… and BW signed his contract in 05 off season. I think it’s an escalating contract as best I can tell from looking at the salary cap. Williams appears to have been paid a 2 million dollar bonus at some point already in this offseason… so I think I might be wrong when I suggested earlier we’d dump him. Mathis makes less than BW and Florence and soon Lito… hmm…

What I meant was...
2008 Free Agency sort of money. Brian’s contract, despite the cap hit, is very much a 2006 contract, and does not reflect the 12-18% inflation since then.
Mathis will have some large money coming to him, though he’s the kind of guy who will work for it, rather than complain about it.

I like it
Paying our nickel big money is worth it, he will be in 50 percent of the plays to begin with and probally more if we can get out to big leads. Im so excited about our team this year. We in the North End Zone are going to bring the house down.

I was at the Jags/Colts MNF game in the NEZ
Insane. I’m big on watching the game from the End Zone, but I’ve not been to a Jags game in the NEZ before last years. Great group of fans up there.
Many years ago my season tickets were the top row (HH) of the upper bowl, right next to where the covered seats are now.

NEZ
I just bought my first season tickets a couple of weeks ago. We’re in the North End Zone Sec 221. Excited to see some talk about it here. Even more excited about this season. And I think a package of Matt Jones plus a 3rd and a 5th would be worth getting Lito.

I'll be returning to Florida in a few months
But I don’t know that I can get season tickets just yet. I’m hoping to get to 3-4 home games though, but I hope they’re all in the NEZ.
Crazy fun fans over there…
