I have not seen Florence work out but everything I have read from those who have been to the practices say that he is doing well. Hopefully that carries over to gameday. Sensabaugh should be back to his 2006 self now that he had his surgeries. I hope that means that he will come in to relieve Williams at Safety and the defense wont lose a step. Mathis will be his same ol self and Reggie Nelson is supposedely doing so well that they are giving him more responsibilty in the defense. More blitzing etc. I think thats a good sign. All in all we are in good shape. By the way welcome, Im pretty new here too but so far I love this sight.

we'll see about safety...
On behalf of Chris and myself, welcome to BCC!
I’m not as convinced as Vic is that Brian Williams is going to be Bob Sanders-esque. He’ll improve the passing defense the moment he steps onto the field at SS. He’s more like another FS than a true SS. We’ll have a piece coming up highlighting the camp battle between Sensabaugh and Williams as part of our VS series. Chris has Sensabaugh, I’ve got Williams. With all the position battles going on this will be an interesting camp indeed.

I like Brian Williams in the Safety spot
I beleive that it is an upgrade and he will show us a lot of himself and his true skills that we have never seen before. We havent really seen what he can do, so I cant really knock him…but the coaches have seen what he can do and they plotted in the off-season how they could flip the script and slide him in there…I trust Del Rio on this.
Kick andsnare07…Welcome to BCC..I look forward to seeing your name a lot around here.

Has to be an upgrade
I went to the Colt game in Indy last year and Peyton and Wayne owned us. Bottom line is that we have to be all over Reggie Wayne (He’s kinda good). A great question is…...is Florence good enough to cover Wayne? As far as Williams goes I think we need to see how camp plays out, Sensabaugh was on the verge of a breakout before he went down. Let’s wee what happens.

I was at that game as well!
What a small world. I watched Brian Williams allow Reggie Wayne to catch 14 balls. Every time he was targeted, he made the catch. That’s rough. This is the same guy who nearly shut down Randy Moss in the playoffs.
Williams was our best Corner last season, but that’s really not saying much. I recently watched a Colts-Chargers game where Florence matched up on Reggie Wayne most of the game. He didn’t shut him down, per se, but he held his own.
I see Brian Williams playing “defensive back”, meaning that he’ll be on the field for most snaps, but changing between safety and corner based on the package. Frankly, I’m looking forward to Peyton Manning snapping the ball, dropping back , and seeing Rashean Mathis, Drayton Florence, Brian Williams, Gerald Sensabaugh and Reggie Nelson covering his guys like a wet blanket. I don’t care where B-Dub lines up, as long as he’s in a position to make plays.
Vic Ketchman, for better or for worse, is convinced that Williams is a Bob Sanders type player. I highly, highly doubt that.

Too Many....
I am sure there are lots of teams out there that would love to have the problem at d-backs like we do! I truly believe that the amount of athletic ability combined with game knowledge that this young crew has will keep them out of trouble for the most part. Leaving Nelson and Williams deep, blitzing and whatever else they need to do, will keep a lot of teams from trying to go deep. It will put preassure on our front line to get the pressure quick so they don’t get the easy dumps over the middle. I’m certain the front line won’t let us down!

Draft
If Groves and Harvey come in and play to their potential then we got something.
