Fans Need To Buy Tickets

From the Time Union today:

"No doubt it's a tough economy, and people must make difficult choices with their entertainment dollars. But with the NFL angling to put an existing team in Los Angeles in the next five years, the last thing Jacksonville wants is to give an impression that this market has trouble filling the low-priced seats (51,000) when the Jaguars' football arrow is pointing up."

People in Jacksonville need to understand what the loss of the team would do to the city.  Having an NFL Franchise in the city sets it apart.  It puts Jacksonville on the map and attracts national attention to North Florida.

I have spoken to fans who would "rather watch the game in the comfort of my own home".  I say get off your a$$ and go to the game.  Buy tickets, tailgate, and get rowdy.  There is nothing like it.  And to all you Gator fans......real football is played on Sundays.

What's it going to take?  I think there should be a group that raises money to buy as many tickets as possible and then donates them to the USO and kids in Jacksonville.  Just an idea but something needs to happen.

The Gators have a 50 yr history in this region to where the Jags have 14

I hate college football, the game is awful compared to the NFL game. Lets face it though, the Gators are just two years removed from a national championship in both football and basketball. One complements the other. Don’t fret though, every year the jags make it to the playoffs the more people will jump on the band wagon. It will get better.

I agree, go to the game, it's 10X more fun

Don’t get me wrong, I love liveblogging games and watching on my couch. But I’d trade it in a heartbeat to go to the stadium, drink an overpriced beer, and yell my ass off with 70,000 other die hard Jaguars fans.

Here’s the interesting thing about this article. The team usually holds about 4-5,000 tickets for single game/group packages. If we’ve got 4,000 left, it means that we’re actually a little ahead of where we would be before single game tickets go on sale.

I think the Jaguars are trying to put the word out to their fans that seats are out there and they need to be purchased ASAP.

What’s it going to take? This season should do the trick. Looking at age and demographics you’ve got the folks who were 10 or 11 when the Jaguars started up now in their mid 20’s and becoming the “second generation” of season ticket holders. As this group comes of age, they’ll be buying season tickets and things will be secure. I’d like to think the team won’t have any blackouts.

If I recall Correctly, the Weavers give a ton of tickets to the Jacksonville USO each week.

USO -vs- Season Tickets

Now that this has been brought up. I just moved here, I am active duty Army. I have looked into Season tickets and USO tickets. They do not “give” tickets to the USO but we can “buy” them for like $10 so for general purposes it is at a great discount. Now comes my dilemma. Should I buy Season Tickets ($440+) or just buy them each week ($100+). With Season Tickets I would sit in the same seats, get to know the people around me and make new friends. With the game to game I would get to see different parts of the stadium and save money. I am torn. Any thoughts???
