Porter... Probable or Possible?

As just about everybody in Jacksonville knows Jerry Porter has an injury.  He had surgury on his hamstring and will be out for the rest of the preseason.  I have a feeling that it won't be a problem for Porter to learn the Jaguars offence.  He may not be able to play in it untill the season, but he's a veteran and will be able to learn by watching and reading.  So no problem there.

The real problem is this. Do we try to play Porter in our first game or not?  The Jags medical staff will decide whether he's fit enough to play or not.  But lets just say he is probable and can play.  Jack Del Rio now has a choice. Do we play him to give our offence maximum potency? Or do we let him rest? There are positives and negatives to both.

If we play Porter our offence will have more big play ability and we will have a great chance to win the games and win our division.  But if we do this Porter may not heal entirely and could be at 85% the rest of the season.

If we rest Porter our offence won't be as strong and we may lose a game or two. (Lets just say we rest Porter 5 more weeks.) But he can come back and have three months off and have a great chance to be completely healed. (Remeber though, our offence was terrific last year without all the recent upgrades!)

So, two questions. Do you trust the rest of our recivers to pick up the slack if Porter sits out?  Do you think Porter will be completely healed by September 7th, our first game?  Remember, this was just minor surgury and wasn't complete recontruction.

I have just joined this website and am looking forward to posting comments as ofton as I can.
