Matt Jones must go?

Do we all still feel all warm and fuzzy about Matt Jones? It wasn't too long ago that most people leaving comments on this site were all in favor of keeping Matt Jones on the team this season. We are 2 games into the season now and we are 0-2. Is everybody happy with Matt Jones still or is it time to trade him now? Don't be shy, tell me how you really feel.

he’s our leading receiver, which is something I should be happy about, but for some reason I’m not. Can’t wait for porter baby!! 980 rec yds, 9 td’s in 14 games.

why would we get rid of our leading receiver (so far) ? too much focus on the negatives with matt… and, to some extent, i agree… but… we forge ahead with what we have until someone truly steps it up in the wide receiver dept. and tells the opposing defense’s to stop loading up against the run!

Matt Jones...

may not be the best player, but he is the most productive wide receiver so far. This is not a good thing, however, when a player like Matt Jones is your best threat in the passing game. WE NEED PORTER!!! TIME TO PLAY SOME DAMN FOOTBALL J.P.!!!

I don't think it is going to matter...

unless he get’s a ‘good ol’ boy’ for a judge in Arkansas, he is not going to be playing for anybody other than ’ State Penn’.

do you think that is enough?

I personally think he should go to jail. He is a role model for kids whether he likes it or not. He is either a good one or a bad one. You decide.
Vick is in prison on a first offense. What does it say to kids if he walks because ’ it was only cocaine ’.

I didn't say it was right.. it's the law though...

Jones isn’t a violent offender, and the penal system goes much easier on first time offenders who are only harming themselves. He wasn’t selling drugs(harming others) or killing dogs (violent and abusive). He’s a role model, but I have a daughter so I can speak to this… If you are such a sloppy parent that your kid looks to immoral professional athletes for guidance… something is wrong… My Dad was my role model and still is to this day (I’m 24), and I’m certain that I’ll be my daughter’s role model… that’s part of parenting.

Yes, I think it is enough… I got into trouble in the past and it was the catalyst to turn my life around… I got saved, finished college, and I’m now in one of the tops psychology doctorate programs in the nation… People can change… sometimes the law is the impetus to cause it.

In fact, I doubt he’ll even be convicted… he’ll likely take part in a pre-trial diversion program. This means that he will be drug tested and required to meet certain criteria for a 1 year periord. If he successfully does this the courts will drop all charges and he will have NO permanent record… If he was a minority in the hood do I think this would be the case… no. But, he’s Matt Jones and he owns a large portion of Arkansas… That’s the facts

that's cool...

glad to here that you’re saved. We’ll go in together.

Hopefully, for his sake, you’re right about the diversion program. Just knowing where he was and what he was doing, he is on the wrong path. Though our laws and their loop-holes may keep him out of prison, I cannot defend his actions and support whatever punishment they give him.

Appreciate the info.

Oh, and ...

I’m not saying that Matt Jones will be raising anyones kids for them, but when they are out in the yard throwing the football with friends they don’t say ’ my dad at the 20, the 10, TOUCHDOWN !‘. It’s usually T.O. or Matt Jones or somebody else you wouldn’t want your kid to grow up to be like.

Most productive?

Any way to look up completion percentage when thrown to Jones? I doubt he’s the most productive when you look at it that way. If we didn’t have injuries at wideout, he would have been cut long ago. Although he’s super fast on a dead run, he’s not ‘quick’ or ‘agile.’ Top speed means nothing in the NFL, unless you can be there in three steps.
