Jacksonville Jaguars Offensive Tackle Richard Collier Shot: "Life Threatening Injuries"
In what can only be described as stunning news, Jaguars left tackle Richard Collier was shot this morning in Jacksonville while out clubbing. According to Rand Miranda of the Florida Times Union, Richard Collier and recent former Jaguar Kenny Pettway were in the Riverside area of Jacksonville when someone approached Richard's Cadillac Escalade and fired multpile shots into the car.
Richard is in the hospital with life threatening injuries at this time.
All of us at Big Cat Country, while concerned with the recent surge in Jaguars related late-night-news, have our hearts and prayers going out to Richard and his family at this time. He's set to have a great season, should he recover. Though right now we all hope he can walk out of the hospital with a full recovery over anythying else. We'll continue reporting on this story as more information becomes avaliable.

Good grief, this is just mind-boggling! I wish him a speedy recovery, and I hope they catch the idiots who did this.

Prayers and thoughts are with the Collier family
I hope Richard recovers and can live a normal life. I forgot who said it but " nothing good ever happens after 2 a.m.". Also, from the little I read, it sounds like it could have been a set up. These players, and just their size can give them a way, are often targets for criminals and bad people in general. I may be presumptious, but if I was on the verge of finally making it as an NFL player after struggling like he has, I would try to avoid late night situations, especially the week of the first game of the season. A season that could be the most productive of his career. I’m sure some may think these are harsh words but my intentions are good and I will continue to pray for Richard and his family and hopefully the thugs who are responsible will be caught.

All I can say is wow. What is our murder rate per capita now? Either way I hope he has a full recovery and can lead a normal life once again.

Collier and Family
I hope for a speedy recovery, and that his family stays strong.
This kind of violence is occurring much more often this days, and should be alarming and cause for action.

Strange
This seems more like an assasination then a random shooting. The shooting happened in a upper-middle class complex, too random to be random. I hope they get those mother – f’rs, and get to the bottom of what really happened.

Not to be cold...
I hope Richard recovers. I agree with the 2 am statement. Dangerous business this professional football. I keep saying you have to watch the friends you keep and the circles you run with.
I see the Jags acted fast in signing Charles Benson. I was headed through Cinncinnatti this weekend and heard the local station there and their fans comment on the sudden release of a offensive lineman for the Bengals. From the fan call ins, it was a surprise and disappointment. Anybody know who I’m talking about?

Thoughts are with him.
After what happened to Sean Taylor last year, this thing somehow seems even more real.
Yay, sports.

Best Wishes and Prayers...
I couldn’t believe the news this morning. I hope that he is fine and able to live a productive life, then I’ll worry about football. But this sounds pretty suspicous to me…

I Have a feeling
That it was a jealous boyfriend. That is just a feeling. Anyway, I hope he pulls through. There are a lot of people on some of the other boards who are knocking him for being out late and that it getting me upset. Richard is a victim and in no way does he deserve this. Best wishes too him and his family.
