Brad Meester is practicing in a limited capacity again, here's hoping against hope that he's back for the game against the Texans!
Other notable injuries include the Colt's offensive and defensive lines... Jeff Saturday will be making his return to the field against the Jaguars, which means the Colts will at least know there blocking responsibilities this week as Jeff is responsible for calling out blitzers. However, the Colt's offensive line is without Tony Ugoh and Mike Pollack, if our shiny new defensive ends are gonna make a splash, this will be the week to do so. Our defensive front four clearly have an advantage over the Colt's stable of back-ups... I'm not saying we'll go all "Tenneesee" on their asses and lodge 7 sacks, but I'd anticipate we're gonna try... I think if we can put Peyton down at least 4 times, we'll win. Once he's rattled he'll make mistakes like he always does... like any QB would (Garrard did too).
Fred and MJD are going to be back and at full strength to boot! Bob Sanders is out and the Colts DT's are banged up... This WILL be the week to attack the interior of their defense. Jerry Porter is listed as questionable, but don't fret. I expect to see him on the field despite Del Rio's assertion he's not likely to play. I can see right through this scheme, the Jags NEED this win and I'd call this gamesmanship on JDR's part. We've seen Beel Beelichick (thanks Cartman) pull this stunt on almost a weekly basis and there have been no reprecussions. I'd suspect that now you're seeing Jack do the same. We need every advantage we can get, and a surprisingly quick Porter would constitute a clear advantage over a team that game-planned against a power run strike all week.
I'm calling it now... Jerry Porter WILL play, you can take that to the bank. If he doesn't get on the field then we all need to hit the panic button because that means his hammy is alot worse than anyone anticipated... something that could be chronic and hamper the rest of his career... can you say bust? Like I said though... I don't buy a bit of the story that JDR is selling, Porter is gonna play, and he'll play well.
Dwight Freeney seems to have regained a bit of his form and doesn't seem to be slowed by his lisfranc surgery. He's already lodged 2 sacks this season, so expect him to bring the heat like he always does. Look for us to max-protect some again this week, but that won't be such a detriment if a superb route runner like Porter is on the field.
Remember fans... we need to sell out next week's game regardless of the outcome this week... Stanley Drunkenmiller's offer to buy the Pittsburgh Steelers fell thorough, so he may look to purchase the "Steelers of the South" from Wayne Weaver. Mr. Weaver may be more entitled to sell if we're still getting games blacked out, so buy those tickets!

Jags vs Colts
The only way we’ll pressure Peyton is with blitz packages. Sorry – but our D line alone can’t do the job. IF and only IF we can get to Peyton with blitzes, then I agree, he can be rattled – but we will get burned a few times in the process. When not blitzing, look for our D to double Wayne. I think Gonzalez will have a very nice day as a result.
All these ifs and hope tos won’t matter a whit unless our offense can start scoring some points – which they have not shown the ability to so far. We can count on a big does of 8 – 9 in the box as has been the case all season so far - this will be a contining theme this season.
It all hinges on the WR and the Jags MUST establish the pass first in order to open up the run. This means 3 WR’s and actually throwing the ball on first down. Hopefully, our play calling will be superior to the first 2 games. O corodinator has got to break tendencies – the Jags have become WAY to predictable. Our WR must get some sort of separation – so far, they seem to lack this ability. This is why Gerrard is pressing and he’s pitching INTs and holding the ball to long as a result. We need some quicks at WR and the current crop of starters don’t have it. Porter getting into the line up may help – but surgery on the hammy is a big deal.

Porter Status
I have to disagree with you Collin on a couple things you said. I don’t think if Porter doesn’t play that is hammy is worse than thought or that he is a bust. I am not an expert on how long the recovery is on hamstring surgery, but I did happen to hear Jeff Lageman mention that he would be real surprised if Porter came back before the sixth game of the season. Jeff said he is real familiar with this surgery and wouldn’t expect Porter back at the very earliest by the fourth game but realistically by the sixth game. I think JDR is going to take every precaution not to rush him back too early an jeopardize his season by reinjuring his hamstring. I also think facing a Colts team that is very vulnerable to the run, having Porter in the lineup is not vital to getting a win. Plus to be fair, how much can you expect out of Porter having missed all of training camp and not having played a game since last year with a different team.
Labeling Porter a bust before he has even played a down is rushing to a very premature Judgment. The guy got injured, he didn’t run a wrong route or drop a pass. According to all the reports of when he was healthy, he was catching everything, looked fast, and ran great routes.
I do agree with you Collin that if the Jags don’t win this game against the Colts, that it will be too deep of a hole for the Jags to climb out of to reach the playoffs. History also dictates that only two teams have even finshed above .500 after starting 0 and 3. Not a very optimistic viewpoint, but those are the facts.

Not labeling him a bust... if his hammy problem turns out to be chronic... then he'll be a bust.
When you pay that kind of money to a guy, if he’s anything less than spectacular, he’s a bust.
We do have him for six years though, so maybe if he can’t get with the program this season from a physical standpoint, he’ll be back at full speed for next year.
Hammy surgery IS a huge deal, that’s why I worry that the issue may be more chronic then we thought.
I stand by my prediction… Porter will play…
I may have egg on my face come monday… but sometimes when your GUT tells you something, you gotta go with it let the people know (George W taught me that… haha).
Good info from Lageman though, I hadn’t heard that bro. Like I said, I may be wrong, but something smells fishy to me. JDR is trying REALLY hard to convince everyone that Porter is NOT gonna play. WHY? wouldn’t you want the opposing team to at least think he may be a possibility? That’s why I’m not buying what he’s selling.
If Porter isn’t back before the sixth game, I’m labeling him a bust for THIS season…

Dallas Clark is also back
so that’s another guy who will make a defense pay heavily for blitzing.
The LT spot is what worries me, Charlie Johnson has tons of problems with the speed rush and the other option Dan Federkiel has two career starts, both and guard this year. Plus he didn’t even play OL in college (he was a DT, in Canada) so this would probably be his first start at tackle since high school.
It’ll probably be quick stuff with Marvin, Wayne, Gonzo, Clark and Addai all great receivers (they actually out 5 wide with that lineup sometimes), who can get open quickly with their great route running.

Stop the Run
The Colts, like us, have not been able to run so far this season. We need that to continue if we have any chance of winning this game. Because their passing game is normally so good, people forget how much damage the running game for the Colts can cause with defenses dropping everyone back into coverage. If we make Manning one dimensional and having to pass on every down, that will give the DEs more chances to hit him and hopefully give Reggie Nelson a chance to make some plays as well. Nelson played unbelievably in the Preseason. He’s been close to non-existent in the first two regular season games.
Let’s pray the Jags win this thing because I doubt we’ll see a sellout against the Texans next week if we don’t beat the Colts. Then looking ahead to Pittsburgh… you thought there was a lot of Bills fans in the stadium huh? You ain’t seen nothing yet.

MJD wants the ball...
so give it to him. He made that bold statement, let him back up his talking this week. We know what he is capable of and with the motivation to back up his statement, who know what his ultimate potential is. Gotta run Fred too, but let’s give MJD his due. Go Jags! Running power this weekend. Run the ball + Stop the run = Jaguars victory!

How's that egg, Collin?
Would you like your eggs over easy? Sunny side up? Scrambled? Hey, someone had to mention your predictions of Jerry Porter playing AND playing well.
As for me, I only concern myself with players who are on the field and active roster. I want them to produce at a high level each and every game. There will always be players hurt, there will always be a “high” priced player hurt at some point or another.
Here’s a “what if” to think about… What if Jerry Porter started the first nine or ten games, got a good number of touchdowns and had around 800 yards receiving AND THEN went and had surgery?? Would you label this year a bust?? Just playing devil’s advocate.
