my take

Alright, a few thoughts

-Really think we should have been more aggressive, maybe even thrown a screen when we were inside their 5 on our last drive
-The O-line played a great game. With Meester coming back soon and Naeole also in the mix, I think we’ll be OK in that regard.
-I’m still not sold on our defense. We haven’t been able to consistently stop the run and Mathis gets beat a lot.
- If Jerry Porter comes back in good health, this could still be a very good offense.
-His QB rating won’t show it, but I think Garrard played extremely well. Very sharp on all his throws….just one bad decision. Throw it away.

Exciting game

… a good win to get, but we made it hard on ourselves. Getting the run going is great, as long as you score points (how many loooong drives did we have with no points to show for it?). We do need a more productive passing attack. And I’m not entirely convinced by our defense yet.

Still, a good win to get and hopefully it’s a sign of things to come :)

Oh, I appreciate it and I’m really proud of the guys :) A bit of realism doesn’t do any harm though, does it? Sorry if that offends you.

Still uneasy

This might be the road to redemption, but Indy was so weak, I wonder what would have happened if Porter was in. It was another blow out waiting to happen.

I can’t help but feel that Tennessee and Indy were games we could have blown wide open if we had last years offensive execution and last years defense.

Why is this year so hard??? What is it that bothers me?

Rules on Cursing

Only allowed in the last 2 minutes of a Playoff or Divisional game in which the teams are within 3 points.

Anytime else, my mother gets upset.

I think this is our new team

It will also only get better. Off tackle runs with one or two TE’s which can move around and 2 good down field blocking Wr’s. Remember, we are still healthy at tackle(knock on wood). Walker and Porter will get some playing time in the weeks to come. Reg Williams is a given. Then when the defense is spread out, then run up the middle. Then run some more.

Hell yes!

That’s what I’m talking about! What an emotional roller coaster! Awesome game, tremendous heart by this team! They essentially beat the Colts on the road with “no” wide receivers. Even dependable Northcutt was out for most of the game. Jones did pretty good as a possession receiver but, wow, what about those two backs. MJD and FT were simply amazing! Great game, great win!

What a relief!

I’m glad to see us run like that again. Keep tempered expectations though. The last time we ran on them like that, Bob Sanders was out… same thing this time. But hot damn, that’s the running game I love so much! ;-)

Is Matt Jones our replacement for Wilford? I really hated to lose Earnest Wilford, he seemed like he was always there when we needed him at the first down. Now Matt steps up. I had hoped we’d find somebody.

I’ll reserve judgment on our defense. It can be hard to judge your D against Peyton Manning, Harrison, Wayne, Clark and Addai. Just so many weapons to cover.

I was going to post that in my write up this week... Matt Jones is a white Wilford.

He’s faster than Wilford and seems to really be coming into his own.

Character in losing

I think what you are seeing at Stampede is a character check. I really like that blog but the hate is amazing. The backhanded compliments made me laugh. The Colts D was manhandled by a patchwork offensive line. If you didn’t know any better and just read Stampede you’d think the Jags were at full strength. Simply put LOSERS COMPLAIN ABOUT OFFICIATING. Is this the same fan base that got the incomplete call versus the Steelers? Please. The PI as the right call. Those are the types of calls Polian lobbied for in the past. Hi Colt Fan, this is Karma…..On the whole I think Colt fan is pretty level headed and I know the emotion of this loss is too fresh but we’re seeing some art tonight.

That being said, my hats off to Manning. That guy was dropping balls into spots…hitting receivers in stride. As a football fan I enjoy watching him manage an offense. My hats go off to him and his ability to come off the bench COLD and make those plays. Great toss on 4th and 3. Sweet crossing route to get inside the 10. Jags held them to 3rd down before they scored. Sometimes you simply have to give credit to the opponent.

TKOPA I am with you brother. LBs need to get us better run support. We need to see Lewis be more of a target. David has to make better decisions. We have to put the ball in the red zone. There is reason for concern and such concern doesn’t take away from enjoying the win. Maybe it is the coach in me but I can’t help but look down the road and focus on the work…let the players enjoy the win :)

Still so early and the Jags have injuries still needing to work themselves out. While noting areas of concern, the positives are that MJ is becoming reliable, Scobee gave us confidence in his ability to win a game, David ran a nice 1 minute drill, we did see a pass rush today that influenced some of Manning’s throws and there wasn’t any mental lapse. Aside from what Stampede is right now, his take on Del Rio and the lack of discipline this team has shown in games with Indy is accurate. Today neither Jack nor the players let the “tough” mentality overcome playing good sound football.

If I were Colt fan I’d be pretty upset about this loss. Probably more fair to let them mourn than criticize them while they’re down. If anything I’d be bent about the holding RM had on his TD int. However, when the Colts scored their 2nd TD you’ll see a nice hold to extend the drive on a 3rd down run. Those calls aren’t why the Colts lost. Jags kept Manning off the field.

If you would convince a man that he does wrong, do right. But do not care to convince him. Men will believe what they see. Let them see.

Very thorough bro... put that up as a fan-post (you can add more if you want) and I'll see to it it goes on the front page of the site...

Maybe title it… The Colt’s mental meltdown… haha

I think they aren’t used to losing much and the vitriolic hate speech I saw on the site was downright offensive. I saw maybe 2 or 3 curse words on our whole blog. For them it seemed like each bad play they all had to curse at least once… Some posts were nothing but curse words…

The third and one stretch play was clearly a hold on our right DE… is was so obvious and he would’ve easily made the stop.

Nice post bro… hope to see more from ya in the future! :)

OGN

Awesome win and we’ll take it. Looking forward our O has got to find a way to score points.

D – this is the THIRD straight week that during a critical point in the game, when we absolutelt HAVE to have a stop – we give up another long TD drive. This has got to stop or we we’ll be lucky to go .500 this year.

But like I said – we’ll take the W for now.

Hats off O Line!

Minimal penalties and the ones called were pretty cheesy. Did everyone see how the Colts D was just dying. I mean the Jags were pretty ineffective in the red zone (7 that is), but MJD and Freddy were killin them. They were soaked with sweat.

Good kicking game by both Podlesh and Scobee, who is money!

M. Jones… doesn’t the White Hat feel good? Would like to see more of Lewis.

What did I miss about Durant (injury)? How did that one get by me? I think the D is missing his presence.

Great win Jags!
