Jerry Porter. The Facts.
At today's "State of the Offense" Dirk Koetter was quoted saying “I got that visual image of Jerry Porter. He’s not that guy today. When that guy gets back, you’re going to like what you see.”
Does this mean Jerry Porter is much farther off than the Jaguars have been letting on? Does this mean that this injury was more severe than first thought? I know i'm not alone when I believe that the answers are yes. It would seem that we will not see the expensive enigma that is Jerry Porter until , possibly, mid-season. When Mr. Porter does enter our starting line up, I sure do hope that Coach Koetter is right. For the sake of our offense, i hope i like what I see. Share your thoughts.

Bummer... expensive mistake... this looks like a Javon Walker type scenario to me.
One or two big years earns you a contract.
Fluke Injuries happen, what can you do but hope he can still play at a superior level. I suspect we’ll draft some WR and OL players in next years draft.

We missed a good one this year
Jeff Otah, I undersatand, is doing quite well. What a gift he would have made this year.

After having seen the injury report
I think there’s a good possibility that we’ll see him this week. JP has practiced 2 days now with full participation. JDR had said that it would take 2 weeks, but with it now being 3 weeks I suspect we’ll see our newest weapon against a depleted Texans secondary. It’s also good to note that Troy W. has participated fully as well. I can’t wait to see them stretch the field, and what it will do to opposing defenses.

I read into it differntly
I thought he meant that when we acquired Porter he had heard that he was a malcontent, but that today, he doesn’t appear to a malcontent anymore. He’s not that guy anymore. That’s why ends with saying “you’re going to like what you see.”
That’s just how I took it.
I hope I’m right. lol

good point
but if there is supposed to be paragraph cut between the differnt sentences using “that guy,” he could be referring to 2 differnt that guy’s.
But I’m just grasping at straws now. lol
I guess I must have misread it the first time.

It was telling for Dirk to speak
Last week JDR said the run game would improve. None of us, well at least me, didn’t expect 200+ yards rushing.
For Dirk to even speak means he was given permission and even encouraged to come out. JDR doesn’t send a message without backing it up. That is why we heard silence after the first game, they didn’t have the plan worked out.
I just think it was a signal, stay tuned, we have it solved.

That video press conference by Koetter
actually made me feel better about the state of this offense. As excited as Koetter looks when describing Porter, it gets me fired up a little. The anticipation has been built up. I can’t wait to see him on the field. As long as the o line holds up, we should see the offense supersede even last years heights, which I think was very underrated.

Probable
Jerry Porter and Troy Williamson are both listed as Probable. Maybe we’ll get to see JP this weekend!
