Let's Look at the Positives
Its very easy to look at all the negatives from the game yesterday because their were a lot of them but their was also a few positives.
First- Brian Witherspoon might turn out to be the steal of the draft. Two great kickoff returns and also one big punt return. If he gives the Jaguars that kind of field position all year, eventually we will capitalize on it.
Second- Matt Jones had a really good game. He did all the things that everyone has been knocking him for, catching the ball in traffic, fighting for extra yards and who knows what he would have done if Garrard would have had a little more time.
Third-Moving Brian Williams to safety looks like a very good move as well. He made a couple of good stops to stop the Titans on third down and he didnt get exposed in the passing game like he did numerous times last year.
Fourth- I dont think that Garrard or the offensive line or the running backs can play much worse, so it should be all on the rise from here on out.
Lastly-The three teams expected to be ahead of us in the AFC, the chargers, colts, and patriots all lost. Yes I know the patriots won their game but they lost something much more important in Tom Brady.
One little rant- Jack, go back to wearing the Costa's, those aviator looking sunglasses makes you look like a panzy, also Garrard, dont be laughing on the sidelines after two interceptions and a fumble as were losing the game, look like you care a little more.

Disagree
I disagree on the last point. Garrard should be able to brush off those INT’s and learn from them. Otherwise he’d be VY on the sideline moping about his play. We want David to have as much measured confidence as possible.
Although, when you see Manning throw an INT, you’ll see him on the sideline studying stills of the D… but they’re two different kinds of QB’s. You just don’t want David to be afraid to throw it.

love it stu baby
the problem now is the oline…it is the cornerstone of an offense and without it, the best running back in the league can’t run the ball…this is a major concern and i really have no idea what we could do to fix it if these injuries are serious…
it was interesting to see all the highly touted afc teams losing yesterday…colts jags chargers browns…pats scraping by (they are in serious trouble)…are we seeing a shift in power to the nfc? (dallas philly nyg green bay new orleans carolina and dare i say atlanta?)…also it looks like people were underestimating the steelers and the (yikes) bills…
good thing is we still have 15 more to go…

I wasn't one of the ones to
Underestimate the Steelers. You can’t give that much credit to one guard that’s a better run blocker than pass blocker, especially since their run game mostly consists of running to the outside. Rothelisberger may be the one QB that doesn’t need a good o line.
I did slightly underestimate the Bears O line. Although I knew Forte would be good. MJD can vouch for me.

How can Brian Witherspoon be the steal of the draft if he was undrafted?

I thought the same thing
but you know what he meant

Quite a conundrum...
But if he were drafted, even late, would he still be a steal?
by JirafaBo on Sep 9, 2008 4:31 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
yes definitely
Ted Ginn Jr. – 1st Round
Devin Hester – 2nd Round
Roscoe Parrish – 2nd Round
Maurice Jones-Drew – 2nd Round
Leon Washington – 4th Round
Joshua Cribbs – 6th Round
…to get an explosve kick returner OUTSIDE of the draft…huge steal…would be a steal in the 7th round
