Would the '07 Jags win this years AFC?
I don't like the "what if"' kind of stuffs, but watching all 4 AFC Playoff games so far made me thinking. How would last years Jags perform against this years AFC Playoff teams? Because let's face it, what was the biggest problem last years 2 postseason games(besides the Steelers and the Patriots switched off the Jaguars running game)? Not rushing the passer well, the pass defense was far from good(specially against Tom Brady). Well see this years AFC QB's, maybe the exeption of Rivers, and Manning, I didn't see such a dangerous passer like Brady was last year. Yeah, I saw as well the fantastic defensive performences of the Steelers, and the Ravens, but let's not forget, the Jaguars beat the almost same kind of Steelers twice in Pittsburgh last year! Yeah the Titans has developed a strong running game this year with Chris Johnson & White, but even with them and Collins, I guess last year's team would beat them. San Diego? We beat them, even with a healthy Tomlinson! Indy? Hey, the Jags almost sweap them this year, even with this injury ravaged team. And let's not forget we beat them in Indy as well. Yeah, this team's window of oppurtunity closed last year, but they were very unlucky as well running toward to Tom Brady (copyright by Vic Ketchman). Imagine what could the '07 Jaguars do in this year's Playoffs.
I'm really interested about your opinion on this. Am I barking to the wrong tree with this theory, or do you see logic in it?

Depends....
I think the only shot we would have is if a game was home. Other then that, I don’t think so (unfortunately.) But it’s a tough call, this year the Steelers won without a running game, and now that it’s back, look out! The Ravens defense is just plain nasty and if Flacco doesn’t turn the ball over they would be hard to beat! We would have to pressure Flacoo every down (and we all know that we couldn’t do that last year!)

I'm going to say probably
This is an interesting topic and I’d have to say that I think they would. San Diego isn’t as good as last season, Indy has stop-the-run-against-the-Jaguars issues, and I really don’t know if either the Steelers or the Ravens could slow down the powerhouse offense the Jaguars had last season.

Hard One
We may have been able to at least get to the AFC championship game. All four of the remaining teams this year have been playing good defense lately, especially in the AFC. But the Jags offense last year seemed unstoppable at times, so they may have been able to find a way to win games.

I'll go as far as saying...
last year’s team COULD win the super bowl this year. There are no teams that we would have to match TD for TD with. Our defense would do just enough to allow our offense to win it. With no Patriots, I’d give us a real good chance of winning it all.

I might have a better question
Did Tom Brady get hurt in the wrong year? If he would have gotten hurt last year we could have beaten any team in the playoffs. Second if he would have gotten hurt last year Randy Moss wouldn’t have had the year that he had. And because he was a FA at the end of last year he could have been a cheaper FA we could have signed.
Think that’s too far fetched? Well lets think about it this way. Why did Randy Moss sign with the Pats in the first place? Because he wanted to win. Who was one of the biggest favorites to win the SB this year? We were. Who did we end up signing this last year in FA? Yes, Jerry Porter; the guy that was supposed to be Moss’ replacement/compliment with the Raiders.
Now imagine if he(Moss) was on the team this year. And notice what Dennis Northcutt did for us at the end of the year at half of Moss’ capacity. It wouldn’t be to crazy to say we could have gone at least 8 and 8 this year.

The 2008 Jaguars were
a 7-9 or 8-8 talent team. After a disappointing first 5-6 games of the season and a great start by the Titans the season looked very bleak, very early and they stopped playing their best football. This is just human nature for a team with such great expectations to lose motivation after learning they aren’t as good as projected. That’s why I feel that this team isn’t in a complete rebuilding mode right now and can be at a highly competitive level next season.
By the way Randy Moss didn’t exactly sign with the Patriots. The Patriots traded a 4th round pick for him.

Yeah, but
Randy Moss had to be willing to take a pay cut for any team to actually trade for him, and he was really only willing to do that for Patriots.

Or the Packers
thanks for saving me the work of having to write what you wrote.

Thanks for all the comments
To heard your voice about my theory.
You know, watching the 2 title games yesterday, and specially the AFC, and see that Pittsburgh win the AFC title and just can’t qiut to think, that we beat the almost the same Steelers (Yeah, Willie Parker is now healthy then he was not, I know) twice in the Heinz Field last year, that we just have a veeery biiig misfortune about last year with Brady and the Patriots. Now I’m 90% sure if the ’07 Jaguars could play in this years Playoffs, Arizona is now preparing for a Superbowl against us….

I agree
but I think AZ would beat us when we got there. lol
Funny I might not have said that a few months ago.

Yeah, I totaly agree with you.
I also think, Warner & Fitzgerald probably would beat us, they are so strong, then Brady and his receivers were last year! .
