Joe DeCamillis is leaving

Tim MacMahon, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Jacksonville Jaguars special teams coach Joe DeCamillis appears to be the lead candidate for the Dallas Cowboys vacant special teams coaching position.

Man, this sucks! Joe D did a great job as our special team coach. The returns may have been a bit pedestrian this year but the coverage was phenominal. We are ranked 10th in the leauge in gross punt average allowed. Good luck to him.

Big time bummer...

I don’t know why he wasn’t re-signed. There really is no improvement over Joe D, and I’d expect a drop in special teams play with him gone.

It's gotta be a money issue

It’s hard to outbid a big market team like Dallas. But for Joe D, I would’ve loosened the purse strings as much as necessary.

Special Teams

Joe D is one of the better special teams coaches in the league. If he leaves, I hope we will be able to find an able coach to do it. Special Teams will usually win a team two or three games a year!

So is this a money issue or

a Jack Del Rio issue?

I can't imagine it being a JDR issue

I have a good negotiation tool that we could use to keep Joe D here. Remind him that he may have to work with Pacman Jones. lol

No Kidding

That would keep any coach from wanting to go to a team.

No joke

I read on the NFLN ticker that Pacman Jones is cut from the Cowboys, and not a minute later I see that Joe D is officially hired by the Boys.
I thought it was funny coincedence.

Don't overreact

A bunch of you are already firmly believing he’s gone. Did he leave yet? Didn’t think so.

He's Still Here

But it will be hard to outbid Dallas for a coach. It seems like Jerry Jones will pay any amount of money for anyone.

by Bestjagfan on Jan 4, 2009 1:55 AM EST up reply actions

Its because of Del Rio

he was mad at him for going for it on 4th down all the time and not listening to him. he made some comments about not being able to work with him b/c he’s an egotistical jerk and gets credit for the good ST descisions but blames every mistake on Joe. whenever Joe is trying to talk to him about something and tell him what he thinks should be done Jack says “go work with the kickers or something and get out of my face” (something to that extent)

its because him and Del Rio don’t get along and because Dallas is giving him $$$ and a big time stage! but if he had trouble with Del Rio I can’t imagine him having to deal with Jerry Jones….

A rumor floating around the internet is that Joe DeCamillis, who did not have his contract renewed in Jacksonville this year, is now with the Dallas Cowboys. Special Teams was a highlight in the Jaguars’ season early on but much like the rest of the team it slowly degraded over time. Josh Scobee missed a few field goals, Adam Podlesh was lost for the season and Brian Witherspoon fumbled at inopportune times. However, coverage was very good and there were interesting plays that lead to good things (such as the fourth down Montell Owens touchdown) . Earlier in the week, TheLandryHat reported that Dallas talked to DeCamillis and an ESPN scroll confirmed that fact. However, word on if he will be staying with the Jaguars or heading off to Dallas has not been reported yet.

Other rumors have it that the reason the DeCamillis will not be extending his contract because there was an argument between him and Jack Del Rio.

With the season ending the way it has, it is not surprising to hear that coaches are leaving either by choice or because they were let go

Ok I'm going to take this opportunity

To ask: what is the Busch league? I hear this all the time and I know exactly what it means and how and where it should be used, but I’ve never had anyone explain to me what the Busch league was.

by Adam Stites on Jan 5, 2009 9:23 PM EST up reply actions

Don't quote me exactly on it

But it gets is name as a derogatory term for really low level Minor League Baseball leagues, like A or lower.

AHH... I would love to enlighten. I know you guys hate that Hick racing the south calls nascar...

The nascar circuit has a lower level racing circuit called the Busch League… It’s a joke of a race series and so people say things that are sub-par are “Busch League”. I hate all nascar… I’m an F1 kinda guy… I spent 6 years in Indianapolis and went to the Indy 500 every year when I was young…

Here’s what urban dictionary says

Busch League
1. An adjective referring to anything sub-par, or of a lesser or lower grade.

2. An adjective meaning bullshit or bunk.

The term is derived from Nascar’s joke of an undercard, the Busch League of racing. Not only is the league of a lesser grade than Nascar, the whole idea of racing as a sport is bunk.
Jon: What’s up baby girl? You tryin’ to bone.
Jane: Please, homeboy. Your game is Busch League.

Thanks

Haha I love the Jon and Jane example.
