An Average Joe's Game Thoughts: If Only Games Were Played Based on Stats Edition

First thing I noticed when I got the check on the ticket scanner going into the stadium at 12:45 today was this was football weather. Finally. I got some thoughts to get off about our beat down on the St. Louis Rams... oh, thats right, games are played using statistics.
- We had nearly 500 yards of total offense. And only 23 points to show for it. Thats the difference between teams like New Orleans and us.
- David Garrard really forced some passes today, however the two interceptions weren't really his fault. One was tipped as he was under pressure, making the pass go off course, and the other shouldn't have been thrown, but can happen to anybody. I promise that only happens 1 in 30 times.
- Maybe the wind is what knocked off a few of those seam passes that were nearly picked. David just took some chances against that cover three.
- Defense played well, until the final drive of the game that is, which is when it matters most by the way.
- Mike Sims-Walker had to have silenced any trade rumors. How can you trade a guy with two 100 yard performances in only four games.
- Sims-Walker got back on his pace to hit 1,000 yards receiving.
- Rashean Mathis made up for last week in a big way. He had an interception, almost had another, and wasn't beaten all day.
- Our nickel package is officially Reggie Nelson manning the nickel corner spot, and Brian Russell coming in at free safety.
- Run defense was great today. Pass defense did well pretty much the whole game, despite no pass rush, yet again. Good news though, we had a sack today...
- Torry Holt had his biggest day yet as a Jaguar. He also became the 11th player in NFL history to achieve 13,000 yards through the air. Correct me on that one if I'm wrong.
- The Jags had an "oh shit" moment, as they seemed determined not to get Jones-Drew running his mouth throughout the bye week. They ran the ball every time inside the five, getting Drew all three of the clubs touchdowns today.
- Marcedes was targeted noticeably not at all today. His only catch was on a Garrard check down outside of the pocket, and his only true look was thrown over his head down the seam in the endzone.
- Mike Thomas had a nice day, getting a nice catch on the game winning drive.

Yep
They didn’t focus him in the passing game.

I haven’t heard any rumors of a MSW trade. the jags couldn’t trade away a #1 receiver after FINALLY having one!

That's why
we have to have to learn to be patient. I think a lot of times our impatience actually hinders our progress.

Ha
I sure wasn’t dissing him. Quite a few on this site were calling for his head, but I kept quiet, I knew the guy had potential.
