Finally, receivers who can catch!
Watching the game this week from the north end zone, I had a really good perspective on most of the pass plays. At least 4 or 5 of Garrard's passes were a little off but our receivers made some really sure handed grabs. The ones I recall were Holt's one hander, MJD's catch that was thrown behind him, Sims-Walker's diving catch, and Mike Thomas' big 3rd down catch in the overtime drive. Man, it's more fun watching receivers who can catch! Also, hats off to Garrard for overcoming the interception to lead us to victory.

I don't understand the hail emperor gene stuff.
It’s weird.

Until Gene does something wrong
He’s the man.
Right now he’s made 9 draft picks, all of which made the team. And signed a few free agents that are definitely contributing.

Star Wars references bring out the inner nerd
so we eat it all up.

Yeah, it was cute to being with
Now I’m starting to wonder if we are going to demand a 100 ft statue of him outside the stadium

Vic said today that Tiguan is really coming along at practice
When he’s ready to join the corps, they will truly be a force to be reckoned with.
We have our #1 possession guy: MSW
Our slot / YAC guys: Dillard and Thomas
Our reliable veteran leader: Holt
And our deep threat speedster: Underwood
When Holt calls it quits hopefully Williamson will be ready to step up and take his place.
If things keep progressing like they are we will have one of the most complete and well rounded corps in the NFL in the next couple years.

MSW
he’s more than a possession guy. Holt is the Possession receiver. MSW has some speed, and is the poor man’s andre johnson.

Based on yards and catches
he is Santonio Holmes

I said this before the season
MSW reminds me more of Reggie Wayne with the types of catches he’s good at. Both are perimeter hands catchers that can play any WR position in a pinch. Holmes is more physical going up for the ball than Walker. And he has a little quicker take off speed than MSW.
Tiquan doesn’t appear to have better hands than Williamson as of yet, or his speed for that matter. But he’s got a better receiving range and more height.

I mis-used the term
I realize that i used the term incorrectly but what I meant is that he is big enough and reliable enough to make catches and hold on to the ball in nasty situations.

He's big enough
but he has yet to show that ability on a regular basis.

Williamson?! Williamson?! Williamson?!
Do you mean Sims-Walker?
At the rate our WRs are developing, Williamson will be lucky to crack the starting line up.

Sims-Walker
is definitely the future #1 but it sure would be nice to have the early season Williamson back as well as all of these young guys when Holt hangs them up.
One thing for sure, we won’t be taking any WR’s in the draft next year or signing any in F/A.

Early season Williamson?
He barely played through one game, if I recall. Not his fault, of course…

I couldn't remember exactly when he went down
but I know I saw some positive signs from on tv this year… must have been pre-season.

He was actually
very consistent with his hands. He was a victim of bad hands early, and that label stuck with him.
I think Lewis is trying to get away from that label too.

I think we will
be drafting and/or signing WR’s next year. Never settle

Holt has shown surprising leadership and skills.
I thought that was a horrible pick up for the Jags in the off season, but it turned out to be a very smart move. Props to the Jags GM for signing him.

And it adds a little legacy to the team
He’s well known and respected which is good for the jaguars.

We attempted this move
when we signed Eric Moulds and it wasn’t successful. But Holt is still a capable starting reciever, I miss McCardell he was a good dude and an interesting personality

You're the only person besides myself who has made that observation
about the WRs bailing DG out of some inaccurate passes.
I like the direction this offense is moving in – a more balanced attack with a passing game to be respected. We finally have some WRs to work with – they sure as hell beat the crap we had the last couple of years, especially last year.
by OGN on Oct 20, 2009 2:53 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
But don't all good WR's ?
Just about anytime you watch a receiver catch a ball on Sports Center, it’s an amazing catch that’s at least a little bit making up for a pass that wasn’t in the most catch-able spot. The TE sure made K. Orton look good last night with that TD catch late in the game. As did that no-name receiver that was at the other end of Favre’s miraculous catch a few weeks ago.
I even remember being a kid and watching Dan Mario occasionally just heave up passes to Duper and Clayton and far more often then not, they’d come down with the ball even when they were covered or the pass wasn’t in the best spot.

Actually, Greg Lewis is not an unknown commodity.
He had some good years in Philly, and was a great compliment to T.O. the year they went to the Superbowl. He became expendable last year when Desean Jackson made a big splash with the Birds. Brad Childress picked him up because he knew what he could do from when he was the OC in Philly.

Lewis
has been a no name for a while now though. Here’s another example, and not to take away from the QB, but how many times against the Giants did Drew Brees just heave it up his receivers? That’s what you hope to have at WR. Garrard’s receivers, as improved as they have been, have yet to display this type of dominance with the ball in the air. (Holt has in the past, but he hasn’t done it with this team YET.)
I’m not saying they can’t dominate, but it just hasn’t happened yet. In reality however none of our receivers look like they have that type of attitude when the ball is in the air. I think Zach Miller has that ability, and maybe Mike Thomas. Dillard, MSW, and Tiquan aren’t real physical with the ball in the air.

I think a return to the Brunell years (depending on what Qb comes after Garrard)
Where we run and pass in a balanced yet dynamic way.
