Pride has to be a factor on Sunday

I have never really been concerned with the points spread of any game. It is cool to say your team won when it was a two touchdown underdog or say you're favored to win by 21, but in reality it's meaningless unless you have your livelyhood on the line. However, I'm going to make an exception for this Sunday's game. You read the header of the Game Preview correct, the Titans are a three point favorite against the Jaguars Sunday.

The Jaguars are a three point underdog to an 0-6 team

The Jaguars are a three point underdog to an 0-6 team they beat 37-17 a few weeks ago

The Jaguars are a three point underdog to an 0-6 team they beat 37-17 and the score was closer than the actual game

If there was ever bulletin board material, this is it. The respect card gets overplayed, but this is a genuine time to play it. It is clear the only thing people remember is the 41-0 loss to the Seahawks, well it's time to give them something more to think about.

If the Jags win this game

nobody will care who was the favourite John. W is what matters. And if the Jaguars can win this, we might start to look to that “P” word too..Plus can foget about the Titans for this year!

I was pretty shocked to see the opening line for this weekend’s Jags-Titans game. When setting the line, bookies usually give a default 3 point advantage to the home team. So basically they are saying these two teams are even, which, given the way the Titans have played, has to be viewed as an insult in and of itself.

Hopefully the Jags use it and dominate the Titans once again!

Not to mention ...

… we are three point underdogs TO A TEAM THAT LOST 59-0 in its last game!

But I agree with Z, get the W and no one cares.

Yes

Don’t be upset because of the bookies before the game. I would been upset if the Jags… But I don’t wanna think about that possibility. No matter it is a hard game and he Titans this is a MUST WIN game!

How is this surprising?

When we:
1. start two rookie tackles and a rookie WR on offense
2. start a rookie NT and a rookie CB on defense
3. have the second worst pass defense in the league (second only to Tenn.)
4. are last in the league in sacks
5. we have a losing record in Nasvhille
6. a losing record after the bye week under DelRio
7. our best CB will probably be out with a broken finger
8. our starting MLB has missed the last two games
9. 2 of our 3 wins are over teams with a combined 0-13 record (one very close)

If you were a bookie, would you have it any other way?

Or would you play the odds...

…and favor the home team?

Bet on the odds worth playing

Cheer for the team that’s best.

Wow

Very collection of reasons. Although we can put another list for the Titans too-I mean why they are so bad these days!

I was surpised to see the line as well,

I run a little office pool, so I always take notice. The funny thing is, I had a bad feeling that Fisher would rally the Tits through the 2 weeks of the bye and they would give us one hell of a game, which would should still win.

Now however, after seeing some ex-player reactions from Fisher’s jersey stunt, I don’t know that he can rally the troops. I’m sure he meant it as funny, and as an homage to Dungy’s former favorite, but it may have been bad timing on his part.

I don’t know though, speculation….

On the other hand, we weren’t mentioned in MMQB Mailbag as one of the leagues 9 worst teams. So Peter King at least continues to not talk about the Jags, this time in a good way.

inconsistent

Jaguars must be a Las Vegas nightmare. We are too inconsistent to make a solid judgment in regards to point spread. I think Vegas is figuring the Titans will have to rebound sometime, and they figure it will be at home after the Bye. ( I can understand this thinking ).

No big deal

It doesn’t matter. The Jags seem to play better when nobody expects them to win, so I’m a little happy with this. Besides, the titans will show up this week after getting blown out.

Anaylists continue to say this

Tennessee is the best winless team. I think thats bullcrap because their record is the same as other winless teams and until they can prove it they SUCK ON ICE.

We must destroy this team and show why we belong in Jacksonville.

Go Jaguars, Fill the Stadiums, a beat-down will be in the makings.

TITs will put up a fight,

Probably throw some cheap shots at Jags players as well. But Jags will triumph over those terrible Tennesee TITs.

They were

throwing some major cheap shots last time. They racked up so many fines I can’t even remember them all.

by Ewdtrey on Oct 28, 2009 12:10 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The big one I remember

was the Tony Brown wrestling slam on Garrard that didn’t get a call, but did get a fine.

And Finnegan is very cheap.

I’m sure he will try and get some cheap shots off in his return to the field this week.

A team that needs to win

is dangerous.

Why do we continue to “expect” to win games? Every win is a tough, hard fought event.

and in week 5...

and in week 6 when they lost 59-0.

Man, I hope VY starts this week.

+1

VY didn’t do too bad against some teams, but he sucked-up-a-storm against us. Of course, we must remember. We are not the same us as we were then :-)

I was thinking

the same thing about being a different team. Not to mention we don’t know what they are cooking up for this game.

10 straight music miracles plays, tell your bookie

Actually i’d expect at least 1 trick special play, and chris johnson doing everything on offense (which may involve a pass attempt).
