Wow... Well, The Glazers also own a soccer team that is draining their income too. They could be a potential team to move. The Glazers aren't committed to Tampa. As a resident, I can tell you that. This is fantastic news for the Jaguars... Absolutely fantastic.

When ownership is changing... anything can happen.

I guarantee the Glazers won’t put a clause in any deal that forces an owner to stay in Tampa, nor will they seek out someone who wants to keep the team in Tampa and sell to them for less.

they are out for money and the highest bidder takes the cake. :)

Yeah I know

Fans of Manchester United (the Giants of soccer) not exactly like them if I know well…
If Tampa would go away (I not wanted any bad for the Bucs fans) then the Jags problems would be….go with them?

Seems like I mostly log in these days when there’s a soccer connection, but believe me, I’m following our Jags.

Man U is probably why they’re selling the Bucs, especially since the salary cap rules may change drastically soon, requiring more bucks to compete int he NFL. The Glazers have huge debts to repay on their purchase of Man U, and more expenses to buy* players to compete in a no-salary-cap world. However, the team value is comparable to the Yankees, IF they can keep the quality up long enough to find a buyer. I would guess the soccer team is their main sporting concern right now.

  • - for those not named Zoltan, there’s a worldwide market of soccer players, meaning that the team that wants your player almost never has the one player you want to bring in to replace him, so instead of trading players or draft picks — which don’t exist, of course — they just get cash and then spend it on who or what they want. The system has its own flaws (tons of ‘em, in fact), but among other things, it’s kept good-quality pro soccer alive in South America.

Football is not the automatic money making machine it used to be

I think I heard that attendance has been faultering in Tampa Bay and any losses in the football operations would hurt bad.

I am thinking there will be a fire sale for some NFL teams and a bit of depreciation in value in order.

Some of the current owners

are wanna see profit first, and just after that everything else. I’M not saying the Glazers are these kinf of owners, but starting this selling rumour, when the Bucs are one of the worst team of the leage, was baaad timing; don’t you think?

Careful Collin. This kind of subject matter may considered pointless and a wasteful.

Even if it is true. This means nothing for the Jags until they can fill the stadium. If anything it buys us more time, and gives Gene the opportunity to continue working on turning this around.

If there are multiiple teams up for sale (Bucs, Rams), and others looking for new stadiums… then the reality of London looms sooner than we think.

Well, as a Tampa Bay resident, I can tell you that Jack Harris and Ted Webb are about as reliable as they come as far as sources go.

These people are the face (or voice) of Tampa Bay Radio. It isn’t pointless nor is it wasteful. It’s great if another team sells or is for sale because that will drive the price down for potential buyers, meaning Wayne won’t jump in to sell also because he would be competing against other owners tying to sell.

Believe me… when you saw the Stadium as pathetic as it’s looked when I’ve been this year, then you would realize the Jaguars are in NO way safe. So any other teams that could be moving is big news because it buys our franchise more time to fill the stadium regularly, which is the only thing that will keep them here for certain.

Oh! I'm totally in agreement with you on this.

There are others who would think this is “pointless and wasteful”. You’re exactly right about this. If it is true, which according to Joel Glazer it’s not, then it is a huge break for the Jags.

I should be interesting to see what shakes out in the end. It would benefit us big time.
If this is true then you would have the Rams and Bucs for sale. Which team is the better option? This could really deflate alot of equity in team values if they are both for sale.

Lets not over think this

Didn’t the Bucs just redo there stadium in the last 10 years? Why would any owner want to move them? Do the Bucs have ticket issues, or just an owner that can no longer afford to keep them because of bad investments? If they do not have ticket issues then I do not see them leaving any time soon. Besides, the bottom line is the Jags have to sell tickets and if they don’t then wave bye bye. It’s up to us people, I have my season tickets can you guys say the same?

by jags1981 on Oct 29, 2009 8:44 PM EDT reply actions

I wonder...

if the Bucs were to move to L.A. if Buccaneer fans in Tampa would remain as fans. If not, perhaps many of them would be swayed into following another Florida team. Maybe the season ticket holders would feel football deprived and purchase Jaguar season tickets to fill that void. Maybe that’s a ridiculous theory considering the cities are 200 miles apart, but I don’t think it’s ridiculous that a handful of people could be in that situation and anything helps right?

90% goes to Miami and Jax

maybe 8% or so stick with the LA Bucs, the other 2 go their seperate ways.
