Maybe this makes too much sense

Since Wayne Weaver mentioned playing games in Orlando as a possibility, this one idea has been spinning in my head. I don't think I've seen it anywhere else, so I guess I'll claim it as my own.

What if the Jaguars and Buccaneers opened their respective preseasons against each other every year in Orlando, alternating which is the "home" team?

Both teams are having ticket sales issues, and the Buccaneers may be in the same boat as the Jaguars next year. Opening the preseason in Orlando would have the town buzzing as it would be the first football in months and serve as great marketing for both teams in the area.

More importantly, it allows the Jaguars to get into the hearts and minds of Orlando at the price of only one home game every two years.

What do you guys think?

That Would Work

The Jags and Tampa have always had a respect for each other, and agreeing to such a deal could get rid of a home game in Jacksonville. In addition maybe they could do what a few teams have done the past two years, and that is have the week leading up to the game of training camp together. It inspires competition, and is just a good idea to inspire good relations between two Florida teams.

someone should post it to Gene, and if he likes it, he might start to negotiate with Tampa and..

Never going to work

The preseason is meaningless. Nobody is going to pay full price to see Maurice and whoever the Bucs have to play one quarter or less. Besides, we’re trying to get the Orlando market away from the Bucs. And Bestjagfan, while I like your idea of having the two teams practice or scrimmage against each other during training camp, why do we need to have good relations with them? I’m all for good sportsmanship, but I don’t need to see these teams hugging each other on the 50 yard line and singing campfire songs. No disrespect intended.

Nah Man, its all good

I’m probably one of the lowest sportsmanship guys on this site. I myself play football, and I really do despise things such as the handshake at the end of the game, and not being able to openly talk trash. I love getting at the other team and talking some smack. When I say good relations, I mean between the organizations, not the players. I think scrimmaging another team for a week would actually lead to a more physical training camp.

reducing - not getting rid of

Jags should play EVERY year in Orlando – should have been doing it already to expand marketing this team

I like the idea

and see it akin to teams in the NBA taking their preseason games around the region (Lakers playing in Vegas, Bakersfield, San Diego, etc) and carrying the brand name with them. What’s wrong with the Jaguars playing their “home” games in say, Orlando and maybe one in southern Georgia or Tallahasee or Alabama? Expand your market and your fan base. Who cares about preseason games anyway? Use them as a marketing tool.

That's a really good idea, Jon

Brilliant. It could build to be a nice tradition, and inter-state rivalry, if it caught on. Nice job.

If it will sale tickets

then I am all for it. I cant believe that we cant put more than 40,000 people in the stands. That is dissapointing.

You're incorrect my friend because we put close to 50,000 during the home game vs the Titans.

The y will sell-out again if this team can compete on a yearly basis and stop with the teasing by losing to inferior teams. I think this city as a whole don’t believe in this team from the Del Rio Era anymore because a person don’t know what team is going to show up. We as a fan-base has to show support to the Jags unconditionally but at the same time this teams has to establish an identity and stop teasing us like like a pretty girl who does this stuff to get her way.

I hope we have a 60,000-75,000 crowd for the Colts game

so we’ll look good on national television. Its a pride issue.
