If You Say Gene S.
quickly 3 times , look what you get. Try it .....Gene S. Gene S. GENIUS! I know it's still way too early to rate or grade this years draft class but couldn't it easily go down as the best Jags draft ever? The offensive line was our biggest problem heading into this past off season and BOOM, four games into this season, it may be our strongest and deepest unit. Anyone still worried about trading next years 2nd round pick to take Cox in this years third round, or the fact that no one had Knighton going as high as a third round pick? Mike Thomas definitely has playmaker written off over him, and thats just considering his return abilities and end around speed, not even mentioning his receiving skills.
Even though our O-Line was opening some gaping holes on Sunday that even the slowest of backs could have excelled, Jennings still showed some excellent strength and downhill running. Even Zack Miller contributed with a first down run early in the game. And its not just the draft that Gene Smith seems to excel at, the free agent signings of Tra Thomas and Tory Holt look really solid.
I also read that the Rams were sick to lose DE Bryan Smith off their prcatice squad last week to the Jags. Again, I know it's still early, but Gene Smith has been awesome since taking over this year. Too bad he wasn't promoted sooner!

Actually I think
the promotion happened at the perfect time. Had he been promoted after the 07 season, a few things could have happened neither of which would have been good. First of all he probably wouldn’t have had drafted 2 defensive ends and we would have blamed him for not having a pass rush last year. Second even he may not have had the guts to cut as many people as he did after a good 2007 season. We needed the downfall to clean out the closet.
BAM! Right on... Without question...
Ewd… do you ever get tired of dropping nuggets of wisdom Mon frere?
Gene came and took power at just the right time.

Great point...the timing WAS just right...
sometimes you have to hit the bottom before you admit there’s a problem. Also, one advantage Gene has, he doesn’t have to learn from his mistakes, the last guy in his position provided enough of those. How often do you think Smith disagreed with the big personel decisions over the past few years?
Jaggernaut... nice post man!
You’re dead on about this draft class being one of our best in years at immediate production. It’s starting to look like Marcedes Lewis may be the best 1st round pick from Shack Harris, and he took years to develop. Our third rounders are outperforming anyone’s expectations.

Thanks...
I was a little disappointed that the last sentence about promoting Gene Smith sooner was overshadowing what I tried to say about this years draft. One more thought, Mondays are really enjoyable after you hand your rivals ass to them!
We're defitiely both smiling!
I think you’re point was very clear, this draft class is playing better than anyone could’ve imagined… maybe the best class in the NFL right away.
