That was wild

The offense sparked up right when they needed to, then ended it so intelligently.

Congrats guys

I’ll be mentioning this in my write up, but you guys who came over to GGN this week were very classy and knowledgeable. Great fans, almost as great as MJD is as a player.

What a game. It’s very disappointing to come out on the wrong end, but you guys should be very proud of your team.

A surprising Jags team fielded the team in the first half, but the Jags we all know came back out on the field to start the second half. The only consistency that we have is being inconsistent.

We did get a W and that is all that matters in the end.

by Pickle on Nov 15, 2009 4:23 PM EST reply actions

Quick thoughts ...

1. O line was great … the rookies made a mistake or two but the interior guys really played well. David got whacked a lot but as much as they blitz that’s to be expected. Protection was great on the final drive.

2. Two rookies … Miller & Thomas … make critical third-down receptions on that last drive, how cool is that? And I do believe that Marcedes is coming of age … he was a huge factor in our offense today.

3. As much as I’ve dissed him I have to give props to Reggie Nelson. He was flying all over the place, and for once he seemed to be where he should be.

4. I feel good for Groves that we won … can’t imagine the flight home for him if we lost. It really was a hell of a pick.

5. I did not hear Derrick Harvey’s name called all day.

6. I truly hope that this win gets us 50,000+ fans at home next week … Gators play a high school team, no Blue Angels, weather should be great … no excuses people!

Sounds like I'm in the minority here

but I think that kneel down by MJD was plain stupid. If the game was tied or we were winning fine. But there, especially with what happened after the Groves INT… Score the TD. Go for 2 and see what happens. The Jets had no time outs.

by pksiv on Nov 15, 2009 4:29 PM EST reply actions

We were just trying to make sure we won the game and that they wouldn't do a

comeback, but ESPN will probably talk about it alot.

I'm a bit torn about that

Thought it was a dumb decision at the time, but now that I reflect on it, it seems to make a bit more sense.
Say we let MJD take it in, here’s the situation:

Jets have 1:30 against our exhausted defense without Rashean Mathis, our best corner. With the way they were playing, I think Sanchez could have engineered a scoring drive. He was in a Rhythm, had plenty of confidence, and we were incapable of putting any pressure on him. That’s not a situation I would like to be in.

Then you have to consider that that’s what the Jets wanted b/c they were obviously trying to let him score. I still would have tried to punch it in on our last 2 downs though.

We one, so it worked and that’’s all that matters.

It was risky for sure

But I respect Jack for doing it. There is a reason they tried to let Maurice score, it was their only chance to win. We took that chance away from them.

The Jets D wanted MJD to score

So that Sanchez could get the ball again and maybe do a comeback.

Great win!

This game reminded me of the 2 games we played in Pitt in 07. On fire the first half, and dead in the second half, but showed up in the end to win the game.

As far as MJD’s kneel down… I like the move. Brian Westbrook did the same thing a few years ago. Yes, it’s risky, but effective, and the way our D played in the second half today.. I’m not complaining win or lose. We went into hostile territory, and came out on top.

Great win!

WOOOO HOOO!!!

Just got back from Watching Favre carve up the Vikings and let me tell you what…. WE have no idea how lucky we are with our stadium. The vikings fans are definitely rowdier than Jags fans are, but we’ve got more fan interactions (like first downs), and OUR STADIUM is like the taj mahal compared to the Vikings dome…

I can’t stress how psyched I was when the final popped up on the screen, Jac 24 Jets 22…

Expect a focus on the offensive line this game… Any preference from people… first or second half?

I was thinking one half on d, one half on o, but tell me what you guys want. Both halfs offensive this week, or both defensive again… what?

Just so psyched!

The O-line played well.

The difference in the Offense from the first to second half

#1. The Jets finally realized they needed to stick Revis on Sims-Walker

#2. They sold out to stop MJD

He got too excited

and just tripped over himself. I can’t really be mad at him about it, considering the crap he’s been getting lately and when something was actually going his way… he let his nerves get the best of him. The poor handoff to MJD that caused the fumble is what caused us not to score. Good job Quentin!

I kept thinking,

Maybe the weight which is his head and hair, propelled him forwards and was too heavy and made him fall. I’ve glad he intercepted, now he needs to work on the latter parts of a pick 6

I love how everyone gives Quentin flak for not scoring when he picks it off, but I don’t hear anything towards Drew when he is the one who fumbled.

But Drew was pardoned by pretty much everyone in the thread, when he fumbled the ball. Quentin made a hell of a play with the interception alone.

does it matter

Groves showed us that he can contribute to this team. Instead of questioning Groves, maybe we should question the fumble on the 2yard line. Groves did his part, the Off. failed to do theirs.

O-line played awesome today. Defense i thought played well also. Reggie Nelson has played much much better these last few weeks. I think by watching this game we see how valuable Mathis is.

One last thought, but to me Mike Thomas looks like he could be come a Hines Ward type player, he his making big plays at crunch time..

Way to Jags..

He was already our

3rd down clutch receiver. I might consider starting him over Holt though. Holt has turned the ball over a few times, no YAC, not getting open, not a deep threat, getting old and not the future. I hate the idea of demoting such a classy player, but he’s being out performed by Thomas.

I think we can play more 3 WR sets

with 5 blockers along with a TE who blocks or goes on a route.

Then MJD and Garrard.

Not enough

blocking and not enough Greg Jones, meaning less effective MJD. And Garrard isn’t the type that will be allowed to air it out enough have more 3 WR sets. Where are the back shoulder throws? They disappeared this season. I do like that Garrard is getting the ball down field though.

Where are the Mike Thomas reverses?

They’ve been scarce and/or nonexistent in the last couple weeks. At the very least, use the fake reverse to slow the defensive end.

It wasn't going to work

Has anyone thought

Of the fact that with Considine’s first start in recent week we can say the Jaguars coverage was awesome at most times. Sanchez would at times dance for 5 or more seconds only to have to throw the ball away. Granted he is a rookie and he missed some open receivers, the coverage was good most of the game. Considine may not make a lot of plays on the ball, but he doesn’t even have to worry about that as long as he is in position.

Agreed - but to his creidit he did make a great play...

…knocking a ball out of Braylon Edwards hands in the endzone – it was a well timed hit and he put his arms and head exactly in the right spot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egBjQMC5R9g#t=3m34s

Considering how we’ve heard other backs talk about loving how much he talks on defense, I’d say he’s been a great value FA.

I think he helped

IMO though, Nelson was the one that actually popped it out with his hands. Considine got it looseish and Nelson finished the job.

You guys played a great game yesterday.

The team is playing with confidence and looks ready to make a run for the wildcard spot.

I almost feel bad about dashing your hopes when we beat you at your house later this season. /grin

Seriously though, great game, MJD looked epic in the run game and especially in some of those blocks he threw late in the game.
