Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

No one notice?

I guess no one noticed another roster move. Maybe no one posted it, or maybe I missed it....

Anyhow Yesterday the Jaguars made a couple roster moves. Unfortunately I don't think they are good: http://jaguars.com/news/article.aspx?id=8471

Bryan Smith was put on IR. In his place Jeremy Navarre was signed off the practice squad. Believe me when I say this, he is not going to improve our pass rush. He's one of those steady guys that plays smart and makes tackles by being in the right place. He's not however a fast guy, or even a quick guy. He's not even that strong. I'm trying to think of someone I can compare him to, but most of them are no name guys that don't last in the league a long time. The best comparison I can probably give is a run stuffing version of Mkristo Bruce.

Boy are we hurting for DE's. I guess this means more reps for Harvey, Julius, and Groves. It also probably means a little more 3-4 than we've been playing the last couple of games.

Note, G Cameron Stephonson was cut from the practice squad.

And Moves made today: http://jaguars.com/news/article.aspx?id=8479

They cut Adam Seward from the roster. Someone I was upset to keep over Tim Shaw, who made a devastating special teams tackle with the Bears on Sunday night.

In addition, they made a couple of re-signs, in LB Lamar Myles and DE James Wyche to their practice squad. I'm thinking Wyche may end up switching with Navarre on the 53 man roster in the near future. Where is Jeremy Mincey??? He must be healthy by now. And he's easily better than these guys.

Additional moves from a couple days ago: http://jaguars.com/news/article.aspx?id=8457

And today the roster change continue

Adam Seward was waived; 2 former Jags linebacker Lamar Myles and defensive end James Wyche came to the practice Squad.
The active roster is 52; so someone might can come….

OOOoooo

Matt Roth has just been cut by the Dolphins. That could be huge for us. PLEASE sign him Gene!

by Ewdtrey on Nov 24, 2009 5:28 PM EST reply actions

Nope, Browns are going to claim him…

CALL EM LIKE I SEE EM

Browns claimed OLB Matt Roth off waivers from the Dolphins.
Roth is a rare worthwhile pickup by Cleveland. The 27-year-old former second-round pick has starting-caliber tools and extensive experience as a first-stringer. Roth could help the Browns on early downs during the stretch run, and be pretty easily retained as a restricted free agent for 2010.

Browns had less wins so they were higher on the waivers?

Michael Coe from the Giants practice squad got signed

And Allen Patrick was signed to the practice squad. I thought the P.S. was full?

Redskins signed QB Bartel from our PS.

Coe is a CB; played with the Colts before as well.

Patrick is a nobody… lol

I'm sad that

we lost Bartel. I actually thought he could be better than McCown in about a year or two with some good coaching.

by Ewdtrey on Nov 25, 2009 2:52 PM EST up reply actions

He was very raw from what I heard tho… It would’ve taken some time. Time that I dont know the Jags would’ve really had.

Garrard

has a number of years left in him, and McCown can man the backup position for now.

I Was Wondering

If anyone else saw that Tim Shaw hit. He looks like he has added a lot of muscle from when he was with the Jags.

If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.

The guy

was always a physical specimen. He has stiff hips, but he’s got Groves type athletic ability and strength. He would be, I believe, the fastest player in our front 7 had he stayed here. Not as nimble as Durant though.

by Ewdtrey on Nov 24, 2009 10:53 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

I saw him lately; he is good. Suprisingly good
