Exciting Roster Moves

Jaguars.com just released some new roster moves. Among the moves my favorite practice squad player, center Cecil Newton. I don't think I've ever been this excited about a center in my life. I wonder, if we are eliminated from the playoffs sometime before the end of the season, which I hope we are not, will Cecil some time to help him prepare him for nect year. At the very least, we are saving him from being picked up by other teams out of the playoff picture trying to ravage other teams' practice-squaders.

The only other move that interests me is that of RB Josh Vaughn to the practice squad. Remember him from the preseason? If not, he's similar to a Gartrell Johnson, SD's 5th round draft pick later signed off their practice squad by the Giants. Don't know who Johnson is? He's like....Chris Jennings from the Browns. Boy that took some digging in my brain.

TE Zach Potter is an intriguing prospect considering his size (6'7" 280) and background as a DE. I'm sure his early duties will be on special teams, but I wonder if he will have any blocking duties too. We've obviously needed another true blocking TE so Marcedes can go down field more often.

Normally you don't have exciting roster moves this late in the season with a possibility of a playoff berth. Got to give Gene some more props for such an exciting season.

4th TE?????

Anyway he will not see action. Newton MUST SEE ACTION!!!! We must need to see what he can do (against the Browns)!
I wanna see that Daniels can od (any info on him???)

I’M glad Vaughn is back- Also I think we might never seen Clint Ingram in teal….

Yeah

I think Clint is gone.

Package him with Nelson

And we might get the 2nd rounder back-and maybe and extra middle-low round pick as well….

Thats crazy

no one would waste time considering getting Nelson and Ingram for a 2nd and some.

shack harris would

he traded gerald alexander for dennis northcutt… my friends that may be the steal of the year in the NFL

by hawk16lx on Dec 21, 2009 11:22 PM EST up reply actions

Definitely not the steal

of the year. Ask anyone without teal colored lenses who Gerald is.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 22, 2009 12:52 AM EST up reply actions

Ingram is a FA after this year… won’t be able to trade him.

by floridafalcons#63 on Dec 22, 2009 10:58 AM EST up reply actions

Unless

we put a tender out for him.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 22, 2009 4:01 PM EST up reply actions

Actually, with next year being an (un)capped year. He won’t be a UFA. He can’t until 6 years accrued. So, you are correct. He will be a RFA for next year, and they year after I believe.

I forgot, my bad.

Well

if you think about it this way, Wilford and Zach Miller are more like glorified WR’s, making Marcedes the only true dual threat TE.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 21, 2009 6:50 PM EST up reply actions

I mean why else

would a 3rd OT see the field so often?

by Ewdtrey on Dec 21, 2009 6:51 PM EST up reply actions

Who knows

he has the size. He might also just be a special teams contributor for now.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 21, 2009 7:52 PM EST up reply actions

He has been on the practice squad awhile maybe bringing him up means he finally blocks how they think he should. I am wondering if it is so we can stop bringing in Jordan Black and alerting everyone we are running the ball for sure. At least there is the potential we might throw it with Potter in.

To Gene there are no Jars on the shelf

You produce and help this team win or find another team to play for. “Jars on the Shelf”, not in Gene’s house.

I think

a lot of these players he stealing off of practice squads and etc are jars on the shelf. Just so happens they are being used too.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 22, 2009 12:53 AM EST up reply actions

You need jar on the shelfs Terry

If someone is injured you must replace him-Then the Jar on the shelf as hand tools. I disagree with you on that one!

I think(About the Jars)

it was meant to be a joke mostly. Everyone on the team seems to produce.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 22, 2009 1:02 AM EST up reply actions

yep.

Jars on the shelf don’t sit anymore like they used to. There were plenty of players who didn’t see game time for a long time. Now, they are called up quickly and must be ready for action. There is a new assumption that you are ready to play and play well.

I should have said no jars on the shelf gathering dust.

So he was an experiment gone wrong.

Not an experiment

as much as just a failed pick.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 22, 2009 9:51 PM EST up reply actions

Honestly, I was waiting to hear Brady Quinn,

it seemed brilliant.

I think

we’d be in an even worse off position had we drafted Quinn. With the lack of tickets sales and etc, there would be a huge QB controversy after every loss. We obviously know now that Garrard is better than Quinn.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 23, 2009 12:45 AM EST up reply actions

Well think about the extreme opposite end of the spectrum

Say the Jets don’t trade in front of us and take Revis. We’d be sitting with Revis instead of Nelson on the team, how much better off would we be right now?

by TheHammerOfSpicer on Dec 24, 2009 10:30 AM EST up reply actions   1 recs

I know I know

I think about that so often. And seriously, after watching Revis this season, i only feel worse. The guy is simply amazing, and probably the best CB ever. I think his only weakness is holding on to the ball.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 24, 2009 3:45 PM EST up reply actions

then we

would have 3 wonderful Cb's

but the possibility of having revis and mathis might mean no Coxs.

We'd still need

a nickel. Not to mention any one of the 3 can play FS.

BY the way

We have now 16 rookies; and 31 new guys since last year in the active roster!!!!!!
