Quick shots about events happened of this weekend -not just with the Jaguars
I made it like Brian used to do it lately. I have no big story this time just couple of things which made me mad or make me optimistic. They all connected with event happened on this weekend. And not all of the Jaguars related. Or are they?
So: let's begin with Urban Meyer. I have 2 points with his resigning as a head coach of the University of Florida.
First the sad part: the coverage. Sorry but that's why the Jaguars in trouble with ticketsales. They had the season on the line yesterday. Yet from WOKV the (un)official radio station of the Jaguars to the Florida Times Union (un)official newspaper of the Jaguars had that story as breaking news. EVEN on Sunday. On gameday! Come on! Jaguars fight for their life and you cover that story as the biggest? And you wonder why the "Draft Tebow" chant is in the city (mostly by those who never buy a ticket...) ? Now that's the reason. The Jags overachived in the most part of the season. They still have a (very little) shot to go to the playoffs in rebuilding year; with 16 rookies (4 started yesterday; 12 played) and 31 new guys since 2008. But they can do everything; they always the second news after "Tebow is injured",; "Perfect Florida season"; Tebow's last game in the Swamp"; "Lost SEC final"; And now this.(Ok maybe with a Superbowl win the Jaguars MIGHT get a little love and respect) Sadly this team will sell tickets if there will win 10 games a season at least...
And I have a bad news for Jack Del Rio. What David got after every avarage/bad game since I think last year (Tebow will replace you); that will be Jack's fate next year. I bet if the Jaguars will start with 0-2 for example (and the team facing a very tough schedule next year!) we will hear the whispers. "if Urban Meyer would be the Jaguars head coach..." I'm telling you; the next big excuse is waiting for born and spread after (hopefully) the Nr.1 hit excuse of 2010 ("I'm not buying tickets because they didn't drafted Tebow") So Jack you must do your homework in the offseason and through the next season. Your contract will NOT defend you in 2010-And I'm saying that dispite I'm still in "Pro Del Rio" camp! It is your make or break season(and did I mention that the schedule would be 10times harder then it was this year?)
Oh I have good news too. Well I see a name that can shut down the "draft Tebow" move. The Jaguars will draft between 10 and 15 somewhere in next April. I saw Taylor Mays on Saturday-forget it; he is at best a SS-NOT a Top 15 pick!. Brandon Spikes the LB from Florida-maybe would fit. What about a real playmaker; with Gene Smith can show the league that this team is a true draft BAP philosophy team? How about Clemson RB CJ Spiller? He will be aviable most likely when the Jaguars will be on the clock. Kennedy Pola will make him a beast. The Jaguars could go back to the 2 headed monster running attack. Spiller would be the perfect No. 2 back to complement Maurice Jones-Drew. Spiller would be the lightning to his thunder. He can break any run at any time with his 4.35 speed and outstanding vision. He is also a great receiver and punt returner. I definitely consider Spiller in this team's draft range especially in a very poor running back class. And here is another point. Gene must hit a home run. A player who is a force ON OPENING DAY. A monroe kind of start would create a "why don't use the pick on Tebow?" whining. A playmaker like Spiller can solve the RB problem (Maurice is good but he last until 10 games. He is NOT capable to carry the load throut a season alone. Rashad Jennings would be an insurance policy-"a jar on the shelf" with that move.
Another bothering thing that makes me mad: Why Colts why? That was unfair Bill Polian and you know it. First you and your team said "we don't belive in momentum"; then played lights-out against Jacksonville in 60 minutes. Then you clearly dominate over the Jets; and at the second half you simply gave up/handle the victory to them. That is unfair and unsportsmanlike with us and the NFL. I hope you and your team will pay for it. Losing in the 1st playoff game again; possibly from a team which go in instead of our team. You would deserve that mister. And after that we will know how good HC Jim Caldwell is REALLY...
And if we are talking about the Playoffs. I go crazy all day on the fact; that if the Jaguars would win 1 of the 2 Colts games; or Miami; just 1 game; would sit in the driver seat with the #5 place in the AFC. Just one drive from the team in the 4th quarter; and we would speculate; the Bengals or the Patriots (well Bengals) would be better for the Jaguars on wild card weekend. Instead we need a miracle that even Tim Tebow (relative of Jesus) cannot do to make it. And all of sudden I'm not sure about that Cleveland victory either...
Speaking of playoffs: I think The Chargers are the team to beat in the AFC. I think we will see Philip Rivers and co against a surprise team in that game. I don't know which team will be that surprise; but I think it will be not the Colts (Patriots anyone?) In the NFC I think we must lookout to Philadelphia. Specially if Brett Favre and company lose tonight to the Bears in the cold winter night at Soldier Field....I predict an Saints-Eagles NFC title game. We will see.
And last but not least here I joining again the Get better Vic Ketchman" group and wish him once again a quick and full recovery. The news of his heart attack was more shocking then the bit ugly defeat of the Jaguars. I heard that he is getting better; but that news scared the ghell out of me. He is with every flaws and errors a very important person for this franchise. I cannot imagine the Jags without Vic. Simply can't.
Okay that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed to read this. And feel free to debate my points!

Not suprisingly, Reggie’s playing time has been reduced.
He knows what he has to do, it’s his decision if he wants to or not.

Chargers
You know, I keep thinking the Chargers are there as well but I still can’t conceive of either the Pats or Colts in the Super Bowl.

As well. If the NFC champ game is against those two, thats gonna be a hell of a game, especially if it turns into a shootout.

By the way
Polian created quite a firestorm with his move among Indy fans.
If they don’t win the AFC people will rip his head of for this…

Why? He yanked the starters, it didn't cost Indy anything in terms of the playoffs.

Yeah
But people will say; if they lose in the playoffs; Polian calm down the fire in them with this Terry!

Eeryone said how big favourite Houston is on that game..
Air forces pretty much beat them easily (and that play where 2 games in a row there was kickoff return TDs was a beauty…)

It seems there has been SO many lopsided bowls this year…
We need a plyoff system, just like college basketball.

I'm not watching too many college football
opposite to some off my fellow Hungarian football fans at the other site (they are so big gurus; then 2 of them now the experts at some of the college game broadcasts in Hiungary!!!)
For me this is a perfect oppurtunity to wwatch these not so known teams/players in a game. I saw Keenum today the first time (I was not impressed-I know he is good).
Maybe a playoff would be better (even Pres. Obama said he wanna see a system like that) but until that I watcdh this format.
Stanford and Oklahoma put out a heckuva show sofar on Sunbowl!
