What worries me

I remember it like it was yesterday. After nearly 18 months paying for Season Tickets before getting to see a game, then struggling through that inaugural season that was made complete by beating the Steelers, the Jaguars are 8-6 and a win against the Falcons puts them in the playoffs. Oh if it were only that easy. As Morten Anderson lined up for that 35-yard chip shot FG I have never been so sure that we'd lose a game. It remains to this day the only game I've ever walked out of with the outcome still in doubt. Of course we all know that it went our way that season and what a magical ride it was.

Star-divide

While I've moved away from Jacksonville and don't make it to 10+ games each season like I did for the first 5, I do still make it down occasionally and still follow the Jacksonville Jaguars religiously. (I used to get up at 5am on Monday mornings when I lived in New Zealand to listed to them on the internet). So, what worries me ?

What worries me is we're going to get down to that final game at Cleveland and it's not going to be as easy as we'd expect. Deep down we know the Jaguars aren't a real good football team right now but they've done what they have had to do to be in the #6 spot and in control of their own playoff destiny. And they're certainly better than Cleveland.

But I'm worried because it seems that every time we "expect" good things to happen, they don't. Or when the do, as in the case with Anderson missing a FG from a distance he'd never missed from before, they don't come as easy as we'd like.

Maybe I should just be worried about beating the Dolphins right now. Maybe I should worry about getting a win against the Colts or Patriots. But losing any of those games, while difficult, wouldn't compare to getting to the brink of the playoffs, needing only to beat Cleveland, and falling flat.  We only need to look at our other road games to know it's possible.  Hopefully we can sweep the next 3 and all relax in that final week.

One Game

At a time. I know it is an old saying, that is tired and boring, but that it what it has really come down to this season. Every Jaguar low is followed by a high, along with luck to help along the way. We have a 1 game lead with 4 games left. Look ahead next year to the games and do the math and the scenarios. Just take this season and the next 4 games 1 game at a time. Win against the Dolphins and things will take care of themselves. Then we worry about the Colts on Monday.

I totally agree

That thought just kept creeping into the back of my mind so I thought I’d exercise it by writing it down. :)

Indy/NEP will be fun

because the majority expect a loss. Its these games we should win that are troublesome.

I would say

all of them have been troublesome. haha
But seriously they have been. When have we this season beaten anyone handily, except for that first Titans game? This team likes living on the edge, but as of right now, they are thriving; and my interest has almost never been greater.
