Ask the Phinsider

Greetings Jaguars fans from the Phinsider! Jonathan was kind enough to post one of these over on the Phinsider, so I thought I would return the favor. So ask away with your Miami Dolphins questions and we'll try to answer them as quick as we can. I think this will be a tough game for both teams with wild card implications, and I'm hoping for a good, hard fought game.

So ask away Jaguars fans!

Thanks for answering our Qs

Is any key player injured for this sundays game?

Since Ronnie Brown is on IR; how good is the running game?

How the Dolpins playing on away games?

Is the Dolphins D in good form?

Is any Dolphins player on the roster; who has not a big name; but can surpise us on Sunday?

Predictions for Sunday?

I think we will miss Jason Ferguson (our Nose Tackle) who is out

trying to stop your running game.
Look out for Brian Hartline. He is starting to emerge and is building rapport with Chad Henne.
Greg Camarillo is an unknown player, but if Sunday’s game is close and comes down to the wire, if the Fins win, his name will be in the mix somehow, I guarantee it.
Another name to look out for (if he ever gets in the game is Cameron Wake). I, for one, hope Cameron Wake gets well acquainted with David Garrard. Nate Jones may surprise you as well.

I was just going to mention Wake.

He hasn’t really gotten a lot of recognition so far this year, but he hasn’t been playing on a lot of snaps. But when he is in there, he has been a pass rushing monster. He apparently isn’t quite as good at run stopping yet, so you should only see him on obvious pass plays.

But my suggestion would be that when he’s in there, they need to seriously consider double teaming him because he has just been very very good at getting pressure on the QB.

If I remember

Wake did a number on our OL in the preseason. Fortunately I think our OT’s are getting better.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 8, 2009 5:29 PM EST up reply actions

So has Wake. Just look at Brady's last pass last week!

I really think

there is good chance you guys will put some good pressure on Garrard. If they do or not will probably decide the outcome.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 9, 2009 9:35 PM EST up reply actions

No problem. I love these Q&A sessions.

I would say that the biggest key players that are injured for us are Ronnie Brown (obviously), Jason Ferguson (NT), and Jake Grove ©.

Ricky Williams has been carrying the load admirably since Ronnie went down. Last week he had 75 yards rushing, and the 3 games before that he went over 100. He has been doing pretty good carrying the main workload for us. And to spell him we have Lex Hilliard, who is a big, lower his shoulder and truck right over you back. So far, he has been doing pretty well for us.

Like jwillis said, we are 2-4 in away games, so it is definitely not our strong suit.

The D has been one of our biggest weaknesses this year. We have been absolutely terrible in covering TEs and on play action. Our corners have done pretty good for being rookies, but the safeties and MLBs have been rather lacking lately.

I have to agree with the other guys, Davone Bess, Cameron Wake, and Brian Hartline.

I think it will be a very close game for both of us. I’m gonna say Dolphins 24, Jaguars 21.

We probably should be 3-3 and would have been had Henning not called a Wildcat pass on first and goal...

One player with whom you are familiar who has been a nice find for us is...

Tony McDaniel
Remember him?
He is not injured yet (knock on wood) and I expect him to play inspired football this Sunday in Jacksonville.
He’s shown some flashes, though his stats are not spectacular, yet…
Randy Starks will also be a key player for us with Jason Ferguson out.

I'm

surprised Tony actually started lowering his pads. I knew he would fit in better as a 3-4 guy. I expect that he will get blasted in this game though.
I imagine Starks will disrupt our offense some. Could be your all’s MVP on D.

by Ewdtrey on Dec 8, 2009 5:34 PM EST up reply actions

1) Jason Taylor and Joey Porter missed practice today

2) Ricky Williams has filled in nicley for Ronnie Brown, he had 3 back to back 100+ yard games since Ronnie got hurt

3) I believe we are 1-4 on the road.

4) Our Safeties and LBs cant cover worth a shit, while our 2 CBs have played well.

5) Randy Starks, he is the most underrated DE in the league(even though Profootball Focus has him ranked #1 overall)

6) Pain

I'll take a shot..

Q1 Starting Center Jake Grove is probably out… However his backup played well against NE.

Q2 Ricky Williams has done well filling in for Ronnie. Also Lex Hilliard as been a decent.

Q3 2-4 in aways games

Q4 Devon Bess, Lex Hilliard

Q5 Phins 21-17

Jwillis9 missed one question, maybe deliberately
Is the Dolphins D in good form?

No, the Dolphin’s defense has been pretty bad, especially in the fourth quarter.
Granted, it has been against elite QBs, but there are times when the pass rush disappears and the CBs are burned for big gains.
The secondary is young, so there is much hope.
Our starting safeties are Yeremiah Bell and Gibril Wilson and they are terrible in coverage.
My advice to your OC: Play action with MJD and try to get your elite TEs matched up with our LBs or Safeties. Game over.

Which division foe do you dispise the most and why?

Any players do you like personally who are not “on the radar” for most people?

Jets by far...

Pats you just hate on because of how good their team is ran. I hate to say that but its the truth
Bills are the Bills I mean what more to say
Jets are a bunch of arrogant / ignorant assholes

The fans are pretty much in the same order for division foe…well with the addition of a Jags fan on this blog by the name of silences who is a huge douche

We have a very good discussion with the Jets fans

on the week when we played with them. John B wrote this after the game in his recap on Gang Green Nation:
“Jaguars Fans on This Site: All week Jaguars fans graced us with their presence here on GGN, and I can’t say enough about them. They were classy, knowledgable, and added a lot to our discussion here. In the year and change I’ve run this blog, I’ve come across some great fan bases. The Bills and Texans come to mind. The Jaguars fans we came across this week top the list. Congrats on the win. Good luck the rest of the way. Please do continue to stop by”

With Buffalo we have an average dicussion.-not bad; not good on the following week

I’m very interested how the interaction with the Pats fans will go on when the 2 tewams met on Week 16

Notice they calls us arrogant and ignorant, and we call them arrogant and ignorant. Probably neither are, it’s just the way the rivalry has developed.

Cheers again though Zoltan

What happened in Miami with Wilford?

I’ll bullet these.

> What is the story with Ernest Wilford’s failed tenure in Miami?
> Were they simply trying to put him in a role that didn’t suit him or was he not performing in general?
> Was the idea to make him the #1 WR?

Hard to imagine Parcells would miss on what role Ernest best fits. Good character guy and a hard worker, so I’m glad he is back with the Jaguars.

to be honest bw

I have no idea what happened with EW. It just seemed he couldnt get on the field, and with out WR corps thats saying alot. They tried to convert him to a TE and that didnt work out to well since our TE are pretty decent and a project isnt what we needed.
We did draft 2 WR in the draft (P.Turner & B.Hartline) so maybe they cut him to make way for them idk. It was just not a good fit for our team I guess

yeah...

This was probably an unimportant question directed at a role player. We really like EW when he was here and wanted him to succeed.
