Holt in Jacksonville today?

I heard reports that Torry Holt will be in Jacksonville today. If so, i don't care if they overpay him a little bit, just sign him. If T.O. is worth $6 million to the Bills, I think what Holt would mean to the Jags is worth that much. Jerry Porters ordeal shouldn't make us gunshy to sign a future hall of famer and good locker room guy like Holt. Going into the draft with Holt on our roster would be awesome.

Conversation goes like this:

Gene Smith: So Torry, I’m thinking of an incentive based contract, maybe 10 TDs and 1,000 yds?

Torry: So you only want me for home games?

Haha

You’re right. With a healthy quarterback and offensive line, I see Torry putting up those numbers easy.

Un-drafted fa's

Not only would it immediately help our wr core but think about undrafted fa’s. I believe gene will bring in a few undrafted wide receivers in what is supposed to be a deep class we should be able to have our pick of any undrafted wide receivers not only do we offer a chance to start but also potential to work with one of the better receivers in recent history. Just a thought.

The Compensatory picks will help with that as well…

We Can Bring Them In

But most of the time they just end up as practice squad players. Lets say we sign Holt, we would still have Northcutt, Walker, Williamson. D’Juan Woods or Nate Hughes should win a spot. So it could be a long shot to say the UDFAs will contribute immediately, but they could be developed while on the practice squad.

I see… however, witherspoon contributed pretty well… (other then his fumbles) lol

Haha

Yeah, I don’t think Witherspoon will be back unless he really bulks up. His speed is insane, but he has to learn to hold on to the ball.

Witherspoon

Had a great season up until that Vikings game……..

I dont see why

he would be cut or anything………..

Joe D was a Jack Del Rio favorite

until the Vikings game too. Don’t see why he was let go.

OK OK I know he went for more money, but in all honesty, he was encouraged to look.

Yes, but....

I mean, that game really ended our season……. well it was finished already…..

The thing is that during the time Witherspoon ran behind a partially motivated Special team, he had a great season……….

I think Witherspoon ...

will be given every opportunity to make the roster this year. Too much upside. I know I’m going to appear uninformed, but who is Joe D.?

by Jaggernaut on Mar 26, 2009 1:49 PM EDT reply actions

Joe Decamillis

Was our Special teams coordinator for the last 2 seasons…..

He had rookie hands, happens to a lot of rookies. I think witherspoon will be sticking around for a long time.

Spoon...

Offers some real potential as a nickel corner. Watching him this season he seemed to play pretty well when called upon, and with some seasoning and coaching I think he could really do some good things with all that speed he has.

If they want you, the contract says it

The Jaguars contract didn’t “we want you”.

It’s going to suck for us if we cannot sign him. I read the us and the titans are the only 2 teams really interested in him. So maybe a AFC south bid.
