This is a fantastic article on Gene Smith that Socal brought to our attention. It was written yesterday and has some stellar information... It also talks about his blue-collar past and has some nice tidbits on his family. Great all around read!

Here's another link in which Gene discusses Big John and the DT position, as well as the high premium he puts on linemen.

Nice article by the Tacked One Kuharsky. If things ever get really bad we can suit up Gene, he was after all a former defensive lineman.

Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Fred Taylor. Sounds about right.

jagnation

writer charlie bernstein (thats close) said to not expect Big John in teal and black next season in a live chat a week or 2 ago. He also said that he is worth more than stroud so like a 3 and 4. That would do wonders for our club. BUT imagine rajii and stroud with meir rotating. It could be a great start. only thing is we are building not climbing the mountain.

I'm a Fan of Trading Him

While there is sentimental value in John Henderson, we need the picks more than we need the good feelings. Trade him, we get a few more draft picks, and we can really get some good talent, and build this franchise to be Super Bowl ready by 2012.

Exactly

It’s time to build for the future and it’s going to mean there will be a lot of sacrifices.

our run defense just worries me enough already

The Run Defense

Doesn’t really worry me too much next year. It may not finish top 10, but the d-line isn’t going to be horrible next year, just young. And I think our linebackers can step up to the plate, as they are young, but all have experience. The linebackers for this team are special together.
