Matt Jones arrested...again
Well add to the the list of the jaguars proverbial f ups. Matt Jones has been arrested again for possession of a controlled substance and violation of his parol. They are reporting it on profootballtalk.com along with his mug shot. Way to go Matt Jones! Now that you will be kicked off the team we are left with Buttery Hands Northcutt and Bum Knee Mike Walker, looks like we'll be drafting a Wide Reciever.

he's not supposed to drink on parole....
Former Arkansas Razorback and current Jacksonville Jaguar wide receiver Matt Jones was back in Washington County Drug Court Monday afternoon with some bad news for the judge. Jones told the Judge Mary Ann Gunn he had been drinking and playing golf on Thursday. Jones’s is not supposed to drink while participating in the Drug Court Program. Jones told the Judge Gunn it was a bad decision. Judge Gunn told Jones she thought he was a good person and because of that he had to choose between a week in jail or entering a six weeks residential drug program ….She said he will also be set back in the program. After a short recess, Judge Gunn decided Jones will go to Washington County Jail until 8am Sunday morning. Gunn cut the jail sentence short so Jones could make Jaguar football practice.
8 game suspension here…
Thanks for the memories Fred, the #1 back on my roster
Depending on how strict a judge makes it
Being in possession of cough syrup can be a violation. If he really was caught for having a beer on the gold course, then I couldn’t care less. Also, how did he get caught?
On a random note, looked at his mugshot and I grew up maybe a half a mile from where he lives.

Looks like
Matt Jones is going to be out and we might end up drafting two WR’s in the draft. The Jags gave Jones another change and he showed his commitment on the field, but after this, he will probably be cut. Sorry Matt.
This is stupid
Drinking and playing golf are the same thing. You can’t do one without the other. What is he suppoosed to do, sit in a chair all day?
Cut Matt some slack on this. If this is an 8 game suspension, then Ralph Wilson should get an 8 game suspension for giving TO a contract. That is even more stupid.
WE HAVE GONE TOO FAR!!!!!!!

I don't see the Jags cutting Matt Jones
But I do see the evil Goodell overreacting and giving him a suspension.

Absolutely
I was instantly angry with Matt when I saw the headline, but after reading Rufio’s comment I can’t believe this is even a headline
I'm with you on this....
give me a break, drinking beer on a golf course during the off season. I understand he’s on probation but I don’t think I would cut him over this. Bad judgement but let use common sense in judging him.
You're Getten Crazy....
Drinkin snd shootin are the same thing… Matt was just ahngin out with the wrong crowd.
You Can't
Play golf and not have beer. This is such a minor offense it’s not even funny. Goodell needs to shove it.
Thats Good For Another Jacksonville... First Down.
Well one we don’t even know if rufios comment is true. I don’t see him being charged with possession of a controlled substance just from saying he drank. Possession of a controlled substance is a felony, which means possession of crack, coke, heroine, meth, prescription drugs that aren’t yours. If they arrest you for drinking in the past and not actually catch you in the act I would be locked up for a long time. Unfortunately Matt had his chances. Between cutting up coke on the side of the road and his awful work ethic his time is done. I’m not a conservative by any means but we just can’t say " ohh cut him some slack" when every other week a Jaguar is arrested, for drinking, speeding, guns, coke, etc, these people need to learn some discipline. Gene Smith has said his main priority is building through the draft and acquiring players with good character. Basically he meant no more f ups like reggie williams, sensabuagh, kalif barnes, matt jones, mcdougles and a lot more. I think 20 something players had been arrested in two years? That’s something to be proud of, just google “Jaguar Arrest”. But no we should just cut them some slack…Do you like being the Bengals of the South? If anything they should call the bengals, the jaguars of the north. Ok I’m done
Who cares, the point is he violated his parole. I think for drinking on the golf course and getting put in jail for it is a bunch of B.S. too. But if I was given the option for playing in the NFL getting paid millions or drinking with the risk of failing a random drug tests while I’m in a substance abuse program, getting kicked off the team, and going to jail, I think would definitely choose the millions. I mean the guy knew the consequences, why risk it? Who the hell gets caught for drinking on a piss test anyways? What a loser
Who tells a judge they were drinking when it's against the law... is he really that stupid?
There has got to be more to this though… What a shame… Forget about him getting a contract extension. Next year will be his last in jacksonville regardless of how successful he is. This really pisses me off…
The End Is Nigh...
He failed a 'Golden Flow'
The guy doesn’t get it…
He isn’t special… you don’t get to ignore the rules because you were a star college football player.
He knew the rules… he broke the rules… and now he’s got to pay the price.
IMHO… the price is getting cut from the Jags. We’re drafting character-guys right? He’s not a character guy, he’s a guy with a self-important problem.
Matt was released
from prison today. Here are more detalis:
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones was released a day early from a weeklong stay in jail for drinking beer in violation of his plea agreement for a drug charge.
The sheriff’s department said Judge Mary Ann Gunn issued an order Friday saying Jones could leave the lockup in Fayetteville on Saturday morning. No reason was given. Jones awaits An April 13 court appearance.
Messages left with Jones’ attorney and agent weren’t immediately returned.
At a hearing Monday, Gunn ordered Jones to stay in jail until Sunday, after he asked to be locked up rather than spend six weeks in a residential treatment facility.
Jones failed a drug and alcohol screening, explaining to Gunn on Monday that he drank beer while playing golf with friends the week before. He assured the judge that wouldn’t happen again.
Jones didn’t have a lawyer with him when appeared before Gunn, though Jones’ mother was present. Had he gone into residential treatment, the six weeks would have overlapped with the Jaguars’ spring drills.
The former Arkansas Razorback was charged in Fayetteville with cocaine possession in July. He was later suspended for the last three games of the 2008 season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
His case was moved to the county’s drug court, where defendants submit to treatment and other restrictions, with the goal of keeping them from offending again. A defendant can wipe his record clean if the program is completed successfully.
In the plea agreement reached in October, Jones was ordered to participate in NFL-sponsored substance-abuse counseling and undergo random drug testing through the end of the football season. The judge told him to return to Fayetteville after the season to complete the program. Jones remains in the drug court program.
The Jaguars picked Jones in the first round of the NFL draft in 2005. Before his suspension last season, Jones was having the best year of his career, with 65 catches for 761 yards and two touchdowns.
