NFL Schedule Release Open Thread/Live Blog
Just in case you'd like to talk about the NFL Schedule release that's going down in about a half hour.
I'm stuck at work, so any insights you're gettting from NFLN or ESPN (if such a thing exists) would be appreciated.

Perfect!
What are the odds that they only cover the Patriots, Steelers, and Cowboys?

jason smith praise

rams need a LT, wow thanks for that
CD says rams have playmakers but need wr’s. maclin and crabs might be there for the rams….
Rams need D-lineman and linebackers, aaron curry possibility
Spags might want d instead of o
They are talking about Mauluga and wondering if teams would want him in rd 1. I read an article on PFW and some GM’s said it would be scary to select him
LOL, yeah i doubt they talk about the jags, maybe make us look bad for not paying mjd immediately.

I'd hope that Maclin and Crabtree are there when the rams pick...
That’d mean that the Lions went WR, which would be hi-larious.

2 hour special at 6
will include billick and maruici along with some NFLN people discussing the schedul when they deliver it.
thats at 7 right?
Mauluga is on. (first draft presentation.) He gets on field and takes aggression out on opponent. He ecpresses feelings with play and passion.
CD confirms that he has heard Mauluga has slipped among boards. Not a good pass rusher. Not very fluid hips. He misses tackles. He has to be accounted for. Very Physical.
Charlie Casserley. He can take on blocks. He is not a good technician. Concern at open field tackling. Out in space he is over aggressive. Tight hips with range and speed makes a questionable third down player. On any draft board, he should be in the top 32.
Mike Mayock has officialy moved Sanchez to number 1 QB on his board. Pat White is number 4 QB behind Freeman and above Bomar. Sanchez is safest of the three rd 1 qb’s. He was more impressed with sanchez ( higher accuracy but less arm strength). All three qb’s are legitimate. Look out for a bid war for Freeman if the other two go early.
CD again: Teams think both top qb’s are great. CD has now picked Sanchez number 1 too, he always agrees….
Chris,
they do say stupid stuff like," Maclin and Crabtree should both be available for the rams". Thanks guys, i know now i could do your job better than you and so could half the people on this site haha.

i am beginning to hate progressive commercials
CD has Mauluga number one ILB, Laurinitus is 2. South Carolina’s Jasper Brinkley number 3. Thinks he is rising on boards. I thought Jason Smith was consensus number 3. oh well. Maybe a name drop was needed for the guy. I wonder if agents can pay for name drops on the show….am i being cynical?
Schedule show is now starting with:
They are at the Patriot place…
Philly place…
Da bears place..
Denver…
Rich Eisen in studio. A jag logo is on the wall at the top of his left shoulder. We win!
The schedule is being displayed at the top.
Oh zoltan has it up. good man

Jaguars: Chance to rebound after tough 2008
Jacksonville has tended to enjoy its most success in odd-numbered seasons under coach Jack Del Rio (2005, 2007) and a potentially soft schedule could help the Jaguars continue that trend this year.

We start at INDY????????
No MNF (only a Thursday game against the Colts.
by Zoltan from Budapest on Apr 14, 2009 7:02 PM EDT reply actions
I love the start @ Indy!!!
Not expected to win and it’ll be their first game with their brand new coach. If there’s any issues with the coach, they won’t have it figured out yet.
The Jaguars
Must be ready to go from Opening day. Our first 4 game could decide (almost) the whole season…

I thought when you did bad (like we did) your schedule is suppose to get easier?!? HA!
Jeez…
Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Fred Taylor. Sounds about right.
the schedule is on a rotating basis between divisions. Thats why pats went to super bowl and then in 2008 had easiest schedule in the NFL
surreal to be teal
No when you have a bad season
Your next year is easier than it would be if it was good. If the Jaguars had won the division they’d play the Steelers instead of the Browns and the Dolphins instead of the Bills.
WEek 1
colts have 5 primetime. Rich Eisen said tough game to start season against the jaguars.
Jets open at Texans
Lions at Saints
Chiefs at Baltimore
Chiefs play NFC East in a row throught week 6
Giants on road week 2-4
Seahawks 12-14 on road
Game on Christmas on NFLN…Chargers at Titans with Santa and Elvis
Cardinals open a season at home for first time in 20 something years
Eagles at panthers
Broncos at Bengals
Vikings at Browns
Titans at steelers
Dolphins at Falcons
Cowboys vs bucs
they went to a different screen, i lost it
they are going to go over schedules div by div. Schedule on nfl.com
Group discussion: Eisen, Faulk, Emmy nominated Steve Mariucciu, Super Bowl Champ Coach Brian Billick

No Steelers on the schedule!
That really sucks! I look forward to that game every year, and here they take them off our schedule. We have played them every year except for the first year of realignment. DISAPPOINTING! That game is always a slobberknocker. Instead we get the Browns. BOOO!
Billick said season begins today.
start preparing for COLTS WEEK
Dolphins play a .594 schedule
thats the toughest
Bears .41 something at easiest
Solomon Wilcox with former FO’s Carl Peterson and Bruce Allen.
they say offseason is over. Coaches comments to teams and fans start now.
Carl Peterson (former chiefs gm) says fans are anticipated and looking at schedule. First game is important. you need to open at home and finish at home. If you lose week 1 at home its bad.
Bruce Allen, 5 years at bucs. Playoff temas last year one 8 of 12 openers.
Football compared to baseball is 1 to 10 in terms of games
they will pick apart steelers schedule. tomlin likes it tough.
analyze pats and brady is back
why cutler having an easy schedule is bad
Fisher sounds off on injustice of schedul
meet the sched makers
you judge the schedule to see who has the toughest. i vote the team we play that week haha….i hope

We play the Titans...
Within three weeks of each other. Week 4 and then in week 7. Damn, I want the Jags to sweep the lousy Titans so bad I can almost taste it.
Thats Good For Another Jacksonville... First Down.
I'm surprised they put us on NFLN again.
I thought the NFL wanted ratings drawers for it’s Prime Time games.

They Want Tradition
While the Jags may not be contenders yet, the Jags-Colts thursday game last year was an entertaining game, down to the last second. I think the league is starting to see the Jags Colts rivalry.

The last 5 games could be key
Those are 5 quality opponents to finish the season with the last 2 on the road. That could be the make or break.
NO, I think
The first 4 will be bigger key. I hope the jaguars will avoid to start with 0-4(or 1-3)…
The second and third quarter of the schedule looks OK (execpt that Titans game in Nashville…)
The jaguars can collect victories there and can be in the playoff hunt (I hope).
The last 5 games are tough (maybe the Brown game not, But i hope that will still count…and still meaning something to us) At new england after Christmas, and before that the Colts. that is a serious combo.
Maybe that super tough 4 games start will serve the jaguars to be ready to roll on day 1 in Lucas Oil Field.

I'm more afraid of the Browns than the Cardinals
The Cardinals were not that good until their miracle run in the playoffs. Kurt Warner is one year older. They have later draft picks.
The Browns are getting better all the time. There’s a good chance they’ll trade away Braylon Edwards and Brady Quinn for 1sts. That’d be 3 1st round picks with 1 in the top 5. They could be very scary quickly.
I Agree
I fear the Browns. They were even dangerous last year, beating the then Super Bowl champs on Sunday night football. Derek Anderson is still a quarterback to be reckoned with. They may not have the same playmakers right now, but that defense could be good, especially if they get someone like Orakpo.
Thats Good For Another Jacksonville... First Down.
Away in the first week
Just cost me money! I could’ve cut my honeymoon short to go to a home game on Week 1 and now I can’t. I really don’t care, I’m just happy to go at the Colts in Week 1 on the road. Let’s get it started with a division rival that nobody thinks we are gonna beat.
I really like week 5 through 13. We have a good chance to go on a run here.
5 Sun, Oct. 11 at Seattle Seahawks
6 Sun, Oct. 18 vs. St. Louis Rams
7 Bye
8 Sun, Nov. 1 at Tennessee Titans
9 Sun, Nov. 8 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
10 Sun, Nov. 15 at New York Jets
11 Sun, Nov. 22 vs. Buffalo Bills
12 Sun, Nov. 29 at San Francisco 49ers
13 Sun, Dec. 6 vs. Houston Texans
I think that's week 5-12
I think Houston is where the easy turns to hard. Houston is getting better and better and always give the Jaguars trouble. I’d be happy if the Jags could split the series with them.
by Adam Stites on Apr 15, 2009 12:08 PM EDT up reply actions
Thats why
I started at week 5 and went to 13. Im not sure the Jags will win the first game against Houston in week 3 and our record against the Titans lately is pretty bad. I will amend my first statement. By week 12 we should have a pretty good clue as to whether the Jags can beat the Texans in week 13 or not.
