Bolden for a 1st and 3rd pick...
at least that is what the Cardinals are being reported to be asking for the wide receiver. If the Jags were to get involved and pull the trigger on this trade, I would be happy but it might be a steep price to pay. I think one of the teams that is being reported interested in Boldin, like the Eagles, Redskins, or Giants, will probably make a deal in the next 3 or 4 days.

I wont like this trade either way if it goes down
But I’ll like it a little more if the Jaguars trade away a first for next year’s draft. At least then we can hope the value given up for him isn’t quite #8 pick value.
Regardless, I don’t like the trade. It would cost too much trade value and too much money to restructure his contract. The Ravens, Giants or Eagles will all be willing to pay much more than the Jaguars will.

I would rather use a 2nd to draft a receiver
turn him into Larry Fitgerald (NOT Boldin), and then trade him away 3 years from now for a 1st, 2nd, and 4th or something (made those numbers up of course). Say you can’t get a Fitzgerald from the 2nd round? We found MoJo didn’t we?

4.29?
I don’t even know what to say about that. That’s effin ridiculous

So I'm assuming he plays much slower
It said he lacks elite speed or quickness, even though he ran a 4.29.

internet scouting reports contradict themselves all the time
say what you want, thats the new wes welker, just watch him.
i saw welker with the dolphins and i was like “wow”, then he blows up at NE, and everyones surprised. they had just never seen him play. Dolphins find late round guys. Dont be surprised if they get him to go with Bess

Yeah, I said wow when I saw Welker at Miami, too
I knew he was going to be something special.

I don't like it
It’s too high a price. We’d be mortgaging our future. Making this deal would go against everything we know so far about Gene Smith.

Yea, not gonna happen. I see Boldin going to the Eagles, they don’t have crap for receivers and haven’t had any for a few years, kinda like us.

I would make that trade in a heart beat
Oh wait, I thought the Cards had Fitzgerald on the trading block.

1st and 3rd is steep enough
but when you add in the salary he wants, it would not be in our best interest…

What is up with the Man Crush on Bolden?
He is not and never will be a Jaguar.
There is no way I would bring his bitchy behind to Jacksonville.
HE IS A POSSESSION WR WHO WANTS PREMIER WR MONEY.
NOOOOO WAY

We totally agree on this point. Although I might be more receptive to the idea if it was just for a 2nd rounder.

You can't really tell how good he is
Any WR can look good behind Larry Fitzgerald…. Not saying Bolden is a bad reciever, he is probably pretty good. But he isn’t worth a 1st and 3rd. And the Jaguars aren’t really a huge trade team, They don’t make massive moves in the offseason.

Too Much...
I heard on 1010xl today a great point. If a team farther back in the draft order (eagels ravens) where to give up a first and a third for Boldin, their 1st and 3rd would equal our first in trade value.
by FanofJag on Apr 16, 2009 9:13 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
This won't happen
because Gene Smith is all about draft picks and he won’t give up their 1st and 3rd round picks for an aging WR. Gene can get a much younger and possible much faster WR through the draft. Granted the rookie WR’s won’t really have a veteran WR except Williamson and Northcutt, but I think we should just get as many draft picks as we can and build through the draft like Gene’s philosophy.

Asking Price
Is way to high. Who do the Cardinals think they have there, Lynn Swann? Boldin is pretty good, but he is not dynamic, and he has trouble staying healthy. The message boards are eating this idea up with a dollop of caviar; they will be disappointed. They expect to get a deep threat, but Boldin played with Fitzgerald, and in a wide open offense that pencil whipped opponents. In a semi-air coryelle offense like we have here, he won’t average more than 13 yards per catch.

They'll get what they're asking for
So the asking price is fine. The price teams are willing to pay is what the problem is. The Cardinals are doing business very well.

Actually, I think Boldin is as talented as Lynn Swann....
Swann made some big plays in the Super Bowl but look at the team he played on. Boldin had 101 catches as a rookie before Fitzgerald was there. He also is the fastest player in NFL history to catch 300 and 400 balls. Boldin is probably one of the top 10 athletes in the whole NFL. With that said, I also think the price is too high at this point in time with the Jags situation.
by Jaggernaut on Apr 17, 2009 12:33 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Boldin Is Talented
But he has nowhere near the deep ability and body control that Swann had. What I was saying was that is a high asking price for a possession receiver; and that J-Ville fans would be disappointed, because they would think that Boldin will bring the deep element. He won’t on a regular basis, if at all.

Dunno what you're thinking
This dude can burn and is not just a possession receiver. I agree with jaggernaut. He, if Fitz wasnt there, could be a top ten receiver. He is overlooked by pretty much everyone on here who is saying he’s not worth much. I still wouldnt give the draft picks up tho.

I agree with everything you just said
including not giving up the draft picks. Let him stay here in Arizona, so I can get him and Larry Fitgerald to sign some football cards this august.

Type of Offense ran
Boldin wouldn’t work for the Jags because we have more of a smash mouth offense then the Cards do. They run something more in line with the run and shoot that the Gators run. We would need to somewhat redesign our offense to make room for him. He might be good but you can’t put a square peg in a round hole
by jesusjagfan2009 on Apr 19, 2009 8:55 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I Agree
He was able to get deep because of so many receivers on the field and the defense was spread out. He would be a possession receiver here in J-Ville.

Smells Fishy and its not the River that I am talking about
Me sorry to say but this deal plain flat out stinks. Boldin is good but he is not worth our 8th pick plus a 3rd round pick and on top of that him wanting to be paid around 10 mil a year. Lets get Holt who is a proven #1 receiver pay him about 3 mil a year (he is 31 still got some good left in him and that price is reasonable for someone of his caliber) keep our picks and keep the drama off our team(sorry but Boldin is a crybaby)
thats my take whats yours
