Good news for Northcutt

First he finds out that Holt was signed, and IMO I think that will actually help him by drawing the coverage away from him a little.

But even better news for the Jaguars and for him is that the lawsuit from his pregnant ex-girfriend against him was thrown out by the judge.

So for the first time in the last couple of years all of our WR's should be availble for the start of camp in may.

Exactly

It actually feels good somehow. Like I would after coming clean with a lie or something. lol
I think this makes feel even more strongly about getting good character guys.

Nice

Northcutt in the slot, Holt on the outside, me on the other side… sounds like a pretty formidable receiving corps… haha

Good for Dennis....

he takes a lot of grief for dropping that pass but he has had some big returns and catches. I know he had a big punt return 2 years a go against Pittsburgh I think and he caught a td pass in the snow that was big. Also, I think he is a good guy.

Clean Slate

Now if we can just get the scumbag who shot Big Rich tried and sentenced, we can start the season with clean slate … legally speaking.

by ruffdaddy on Apr 21, 2009 8:12 PM EDT reply actions

Heck yeah!

i hope he never sees the light of day again. Rich Collier is more than inspirational, he’s a hero and a hell of a man.

Hell Yeah

My Dad actually knew the guy from a while back who shot Richard Collier. The guy was a prick in normal life as well. He needs to be locked up for a long, long time.

Where did you see this?

I think that’s awesome. Can you guys think of any potential bad eggs on our team now? All I can think of is the Brian Williams DUI from last year but I think he won that if I’ not mistaken. It seems like this was the only thing hanging in the balance. The signing of Holt, Thomas and Considine and letting go of Jones and Williams, it all just makes me feel like we have a really good group of guys to cheer for this year. Can’t wait until the draft!

Oh man, my picture of Northcutt’s beat up girlfriend got deleted…lame.

Sorry, I didn't like it

I’m a very mild editor, when I do, it’s usually for good reason.

Kinda

scared me anyhow. Was not expecting to see that. haha

Dennis never got to play slot here

He was always called on to do something to save the team. I don’t know why he got in the doghouse last year. As a slot receiver, he would be good for 40-50 catches a year. Oh wait, that is what he is always good for. Never mind. Oh wait, maybe some RAC yards?

Only in

playoff games though. lol
He actually improved this year it seems. The same goes for Williamson. I don’t think I ever saw him drop a pass.

by Ewdtrey on Apr 21, 2009 10:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Williamson

I would love for him to be kept as a situational deep threat. Remember the pass he caught against Denver that got called back because of holding by; who else, Khalif “I like to take peoples jerseys, get drunk and lie about the signature” Barnes.

Nice

I think I’m going to take pictures of it, and post them on here. That sounds like a good idea. Now, how do I do it? lol.

great idea

and dennis did have a few key drops this year

one was a first down against the colts (2nd game)

But that

was a pretty hard catch to make though, if it’s the one I’m thinking about.

by Ewdtrey on Apr 22, 2009 12:13 AM EDT up reply actions

slant left about 12 yards out

2nd down, hit him in the hands, he had everyone beat, he had jumped a little but it wasn’t a big deal.
probably around our 40 yd line

I'll look for it

On the other hand though, he made at least a dozen catches that if he would have dropped it wouldn’t have disappointed me. I think we forget those a lot of times. And believe I was hard on him after the Pats game last year.

edit myself before post these comments. haha

he was clutch a few times

but it wasn’t a for sure thing. No one is but he made me nervous and i think that says something

I agree

You don’t want to have to rely on a guy that you’re not absolutely positive can bring the ball in and secure it with two feet inbounds. Everytime they throw it his way at crucial points in the game, I get really uneasy.

by Blair72 on Apr 22, 2009 3:14 AM EDT up reply actions

its sad

well really what is it like to know that the wr has a sure chance at catching it? i dont think i know what that looks like

lol

by Surteal on Apr 22, 2009 3:52 AM EDT up reply actions

I agree

I was very uneasy when he was made to catch a tough pass. But I think that may be because of the 08 season. We kind of have to erase that from our memories as it was a long time ago, and maybe he has improved.
You know what old people say, you can sometimes teach an old dog new tricks.

by Ewdtrey on Apr 22, 2009 4:11 AM EDT up reply actions

But he was known

for dropping passes before we ever signed him. Its weird. He catches everything in sight until you need a first down on a crucial game tying or winning drive and he drops an easy first down ball on the sidelines (remember that).

by Blair72 on Apr 22, 2009 8:48 PM EDT up reply actions

It is a good news

and i trust on Northcutt this season. With Holt and i hope 1-2 new WRs and Walker he will be better too. And he can be a threat, he showed it in the end of last season.

by Zoltan from Budapest on Apr 22, 2009 6:33 AM EDT reply actions

I think

a moderate amount of people did at the end of the season. haha
I probably would have, if I didn’t have a wicked lineup already.

by Ewdtrey on Apr 23, 2009 2:51 AM EDT up reply actions

I Did

It was a harsh fantasy season for me. I think I took every high round bust. Jerry Porter, Braylon Edwards and Donte Stallworth were my receivers. Earnest Graham, Laurence Moroney, and Kevin Smith were my backs. My quarterback was David Garrard. TE was Marcedes. Yeah, not to good.

Thats Good For Another Jacksonville... First Down.

by Bestjagfan on Apr 23, 2009 7:07 PM EDT up reply actions

ugh...

First thing I learned my first fantasy season is to not let my love for the jaguars get in the way of winning some fantasy. Of course, I would use J’villes defense (not anymore) back in 05-06, but Garrard as quarterback is asking for failure in fantasy. Something always freezes up during the draft though, and I get stuck with computer picks.

by Blair72 on Apr 23, 2009 7:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Haha

Well, I had my own draft strategy mastered. I almost one my leagues champiuonship a few times. But then I pick up this fantasy football magazine before last season. It says "get receivers and running back early. Then in the seventh round get David Garrard or Jason Campbell. I’m thinking, o.k. Garrard should get maybe 25 TDs and maybe I’ll get double the points if Porter breaks out. Boy, was I(and that stupid mag) wrong. By week 12 I was searching the waiver wires looking for good matchups.

Thats Good For Another Jacksonville... First Down.

by Bestjagfan on Apr 23, 2009 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions

I've learned get your quarterback first

Everyone else goes RB, and I get my QB. Then I take a get a good rb from what’s left, and then usually theres always one good running back that breaks out that season that nobody knew about or drafted. Then I make sure I snag him before they do. or I look in my crystal ball and try to guess who it’ll be. Couple years ago it was Travis Henry with the Titans. Last couple of years, I’ve either been wrong or not fast enough to get em. Or I get a RB who I think is gonna own the field and then they suck.

by Blair72 on Apr 23, 2009 7:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah

Like Ryan Grant was a bust this year. I even saw that one coming. I used to take a running back first, and get my quarterback in the second. This past season in my “fake” league(I don’t know anybody in it) I got Drew Brees in the third. What a deal. But the league I care about I busted in, so it really sucked.

Yeah, I gave up on mine after week two

this last season. I was in the middle of moving after getting out of the Marine Corps, and I wasn’t doing too hot. I had to do a drive from NE Texas to South Mississippi and then back to Northern Arizona with my 2 year old son. That one was fun. Stuff like that tho, so I gave up.
