Big Cat Country Draft Predictions Contest!!!

Before we get into this, tip of the hat to Stampede Blue from which I borrowed this contest.

  • NFL.com First Round Contest:  Select each of the first 32 players selected.  I've set up Big Cat Country group on NFL.com for all of us to make predictions.  Use the password gojags to join the group.  Here's how the scoring works:
Point Level Definition Fantasy Points Earned
Correct Pick 100 Fantasy Points will be awarded for each selected prospect on your Draft Card who was picked during round 1 of the Draft in the same number order as your selection.

Example: if you selected John Doe to be picked first on your Draft Card and if during the 2009 NFL Draft he was actually picked first, then you will receive 100 Fantasy Points.
    100 Fantasy Points
One Away 50 Fantasy Points will be awarded for each selected prospect on your Draft Card who was picked during round 1 of the Draft either 1 position before or after your selection.

Example: if you selected John Doe to be picked second on your Draft Card and if during the 2009 NFL Draft he was actually picked either first or third, then you will receive 50 Fantasy Points.
    50 Fantasy Points
Two Away 20 Fantasy Points will be awarded for each selected prospect on your Draft Card who was picked during round 1 of the Draft either 2 positions before or after your selection.

Example: if you selected John Doe to be picked third on your Draft Card and if during the 2009 NFL Draft he was actually picked either first or fifth, then you will receive 20 Fantasy Points.
    20 Fantasy Points
Three Plus (but still selected in first round) 10 Fantasy Points will be awarded for each selected prospect on your Draft Card who was picked during round 1 of the Draft either 3 or more positions before or after your selection.

Example: if you selected John Doe to be picked tenth on your Draft Card and if during the 2009 NFL Draft he was actually picked seventh (or earlier) or between thirteenth and thirty-second, then you will receive 10 Fantasy Points.
    10 Fantasy Points

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to earn Bonus Fantasy Points, which are based on the quantity of Correct Picks (as defined above) made on your Draft Card as follows:

    Point Level

    Bonus Fantasy Points Earned

    5 to 9 Correct Picks

    100 Bonus Fantasy Points

    10 to 14 Correct Picks

    200 Bonus Fantasy Points

    15 to 19 Correct Picks

    300 Bonus Fantasy Points

    20 to 24 Correct Picks

    400 Bonus Fantasy Points

    25 to 29 Correct Picks

    500 Bonus Fantasy Points

    30 or 32 Correct Picks

    600 Bonus Fantasy Points

The group "Stampede Blue" has 12 members. I think we can beat that.

You can make your picks up until 4:00 ET Saturday. Winner gets bragging rights and a front page post of whatever they'd like.

Wow

Greta idea, I already made my picks. I guess i will have not so many correct pick, but it is a game. I will (most certanly) not have a correct pick with predection for the Jags…

Thanks

for hooking this game up for us. It will be fun. I think we will be doing good if we just get a decent number of correct picks for the round. Getting them correct for each team (especially the Jags) is definitely a crap shoot.

Anyone know

Thanks

Hey

So, if the Jags traded down to like 12 or whatever, do we go with who we think the team trading up with go with at 8? Cuz that’s gonna get confusing. So, I’m not sure I understand. Someone respond soon please.

by Blair72 on Apr 22, 2009 5:06 PM EDT reply actions

I picked a guy

for the Jaguars in that scenario. But If i saw well, you can correct your pick until the draft anytime you want. I will stick with my list (if something dramatic (tradiging of boldin or Quinn not happens) what I made already..

by Zoltan from Budapest on Apr 22, 2009 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions

So, I'm picking at 8, for the team I think will be there?

Not for the Jags? For example, I know if the Jags pick at 8, it’ll probably be Andre Smith. But I don’t think they will stay at 8, so should I pick for the team that will be at 8? or who I think will pick at 8?

by Blair72 on Apr 22, 2009 5:18 PM EDT reply actions

I picked

the guy who i think the Jaguars will take at 8th. maybe I’m wrong with that, but I pick in this way.
And as i said I expect a trade down scenario. Maybe someone will tell us if we are right or wrong with this scheme Blair.

by Zoltan from Budapest on Apr 22, 2009 5:24 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm almost positive

That it goes by the order. If you think the Jaguars trade down with the Broncos and the Broncos pick Sanchez then put Sanchez down at 8.

by Adam Stites on Apr 22, 2009 6:44 PM EDT up reply actions

in a mock draft, you need to pick "as is"

Chris,
Could we maybe get 50 points if a team drafts the same position but later on in the first, maybe through a trade?
EX: I give Jags Raji, Jags trade down and get Peria Jerry.
Both are DT’s, that’s some points huh?

by Surteal on Apr 22, 2009 6:04 PM EDT reply actions

haha

I have Jason Smith falling all the way to 13. Probably not even close to being accurate.

by Blair72 on Apr 22, 2009 6:43 PM EDT reply actions

He is out

in my mock draft from the top 10 as well. i gave him to the Bills.
By the way, did you heard what I heard at JTW, that Kansas might pick Tyson Jackson at 3(Peter King even will publish it it in his mock draft, and Brian Sexton asked a source near the Chiefs who said it is possible)????
If that will happen it means: A: MAJOR reach for the Chiefs,B: Someone, most likely Curry(if Detroit not select him) can fall to the Jaguars!

by Zoltan from Budapest on Apr 22, 2009 7:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I saw King's mock

He has the Jaguars taking Eugene Monroe

by Adam Stites on Apr 22, 2009 7:21 PM EDT up reply actions

I'd take Monroe or Curry in a heartbeat

But I still want Curry really effin bad. He’d be a good fit for the jags.

by Blair72 on Apr 22, 2009 7:28 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah but from him the latest is this

“According to a league source, the Detroit Lions have completed contract terms with Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry and the team is now waiting to see if it can reach an agreement with their No. 1 target, Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford. The source said the Lions will not allow a decision to go beyond Friday and if a deal isn’t done with Stafford by then, the team will sign Curry and take him with the first overall draft pick.”

So it seems neither he or Stafford will be going Nr. 1. If he goes number 1 then it could mean, Sanchez might slide down to us, maybe
If Stafford is the pick, and Kansas make that huge reach with Tyson Jackson, he can be there where we pick.
Any of them is aviable (Monroe or Curry) and the Jaguars take him (they will), Gene has an excellent 1st pick.

by Zoltan from Budapest on Apr 22, 2009 7:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Of course

all this info could be nothing , but smokescreen=I mean the negotiations of the Lions, and kansas picking Jackson.

by Zoltan from Budapest on Apr 22, 2009 7:40 PM EDT up reply actions

Thanks for the info man

You’re always one step ahead of me.

by Blair72 on Apr 22, 2009 8:25 PM EDT up reply actions

You're welcome

And I’m not always ahead of you, i was just lucky to find that article at Arrowhead Pride, when I checked them, if they know about anything about this Tyson Jackson stuff.

dragging of names

Is anyone else having problems dragging the names? For some reason, I can’t seem to get it to work.
