What do ya think???

So how does everyone feel about our draft? I saw it this way... Positives: We got one great tackle that will hopefully be an anchor for our line for a long looooong time. W/our second pick we added quality and much needed depth. The rest of our picks show some promise and were much NEEDED, not really BAP in some instances but deff. filled some holes. Negatives: I have no idea why we would give up next years #2 and a #7 for #3 pick this year...I hope this kid can play. I would've prefered to save next year's #2 we need all the picks we can get. If you value picks over players then making this move really shows what you think about a player! I hope Gene is right. Overall I think Gene did an admirable job. I do happen to think that crabtree w/be a playmaker and wonder how things would've shaken up if we took him and w/our second pick gotten the OT? That immediately adds to two different needs but the Monroe pick is very safe and he provided awesome value at our pick. I guess we'll have to wait a few years to see if ol' Gene was right or not. I'd give this draft a B-...Due to trading away a future pick and some major needs are maybe being met by some late draft picks. What do you guys think?

I think a super strong O-line can make any mediocre player look like a playmaker. If you make a big hole, then gaining 5 to 10 yards isn’t that hard. A QB, that is just average, that isn’t worried about being hit will be a lot more accurate. It would have been fun to see Crabtree in teal, but it will be a lot more fun seeing MJD running wild more often and Garrard sitting in the pocket checking down to find the open receiver will be awesome.

Even better.

Rashad Jennings will be that Steve Slaton type of player. Sweet.

Umm really?

Mike Thomas, Dillard, Jennings a reach? Seriously

Truth be told

…I was sort of pulling for Louis Murphy, but I’m not exactly heart broken that we didn’t get him. In the end, I think Thomas will have a bigger impact than Murphy anyway…

Don't worry dude

Because next year we’ll draft Tim Tebow and cut everyone else. We don’t need anyone else if we have him right? What’s that? Drafting Gators sells tickets? Right, how is Derrick Harvey affecting our ticket sales for this upcoming season?

Dillard jackson Jennings

I was hoping that we would get Dillard i have a good feeling about this player. 1 he has a teachable attitude 2 he is always wanting to get better and 3 he dosn’t settle for less.
as for jackson i know we gave up a 2nd for him but if this guy turns into another cortland finnigan it will be well worth the price lets not forget that new england and indy were both after this guy so that alone should tell you something. Gene is doing a good job well better that what Shack" the Moron" harris did the last 6 drafts. This is Gene’s first draft give him a chance to prove that he knows what he is doing

Oure offense is ready to go

on day 1.
Our defense: If cox and the new DT will play at least as a 3rd rounder, we have good there as well, but the D remains for next years blockbuster draft by the master!

there is still free agency

we can fill and patch through FA if we have to

The D will have some going through in the next draft

Naw

I actually did use paragraph form when I wrote that up but when I posted it all condensed…I’ll be sure to get right on that……

I love it...

I feel very optimistic about the draft selctions. I think this was a better draft than in most recent years. I know the #2 for a #3 burns a little, but if you think of it this way – no way in hell are the Jags picking at the 8 slot next year. I’m thinking wild card myself. But that’s just the cheerleader in me. This moves the pick back to about a +17. Looking at it this way, we lost closer to that selection. In essence we pulled the trigger early. But I think the pick may keep our ‘D’ somewhat competitive.

Hill earned the starting job for the 2009 season by beating out Alex Smith, who missed last season after re-injuring his surgically repaired throwing shoulder. Head coach Mike Singletary largely chose Hill based on his play down the stretch last year: he went 5-3 over the final eight games and he also owns a 5-0 record at home in Candlestick Park.
