This Jarett Dillard video just blew my mind.

I still say this:
Dillard is better than Crabtree
Garrard will make the Pro Bowl this year
Im standing by those statements. With our new line, and our new WR’s and twenty less pounds. Garrard is in.
I fully believe we had an exceptional draft

Exceptional is definitely the word.
Like I said in a different thread, every pick has either great college production, or upside + good college production. I think he’s better than Crabtree as well. His route running is incredible. He’s like the Sandman, he sinks half way into the turf and goes somewhere else.
this draft sent a message to David Garrard
and i think it went something like this…
" Dear David,
We want you to succeed in Jacksonville. We are sorry you were hit so much last year. Thanks for hanging tough. Here are some new linemen to take care of you, including a center in UDFA. We also wanted to reward you for your 300-yard games last year. Here are some new receivers, and unlike last year, these guys will play with all their heart. They can run and catch. David, they even want to be here.
Enjoy!
Gene Smith"
you know something like that….

I wrote Vic
and asked him if we could expect an interview with Garrard on his reaction to the draft. Even if he doesn’t answer, I hope he does the interview. Garrards probably stoked to think he doesn’t have to get hit as many times.
We have an offense now
An o-line it will works, WR who will catch balls not catch attention with their off.fioled issues, a Rb who supposed to be taken at least in the 3-5 rounds, and a TE, who will be a better project them matt jones..
Yeah, I think David was happy…

Beautiful!
Go Jags! Some people are like Slinky's...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
THIS is AWESOME!
Wonder what David’s reply might look like……

HOLY CRAP!
I love the way this video slowed down this kid and allowed us to see how DEEP this kid can drop those hips….This kid doesnt stop on a dime he stops on the head of a pin! HOLY GUACAMOLE!

wow
Why is everyone all horned up over the recievers? Yeah they look good but so didn’t a million other guys. We need to see these guys play before we get our hopes to high. Optimism is good but geesh. Dillard’s route running was awesome and both picks show a lot of upside.
I feel the same way.
But since this is Jacksonville, it’s rare that we draft anyone who can run any semblance of a route tree, and he really does look awesome. Besides, maybe it will get the fans a bit more excited for the upcoming season, and that never hurts.
Wait wait wait
We got this guy for a 5th round pick? Are you sure we’re talking about the same guy because that guy did not look like a 5th rounder to me. That was insane.
This is the best video to learn what a good receiver looks like
This is also why speed isn’t always the key ingredient.

He's Got
Good speed though as well. I’m surprised he fell to the fifth. I’m excited about this guy.

5-wide?
Does anyone think there’s a chance we might go a little 4 or 5-wide?
I want us to keep the ground game strong, but I wouldn’t mind lightin’ it up through the air a little bit too. If our O-line plays like it should, the lack of tight ends or running backs to help block shouldn’t be a problem.
I Like
The idea of some true air coryell type offense in J-Ville. Pound the rock, and then spread it out. Torry Holt, Mike Walker, Mike Thomas, and Jarrett Dilliard. Damn, that actually sounds pretty scary.

I went to Rice with this guy, and he is simply amazing; both in terms of ability and character. My friends always laugh when I say he’s the best receiver in the draft, but I was never joking.

hey im completely with ya
i even did a happy dance when we drafted on here and i know that at least every person that was on here during sunday’s draft knows i wanted him.
do you know him? if so can you verify the zero character concerns first-hand?

I never met him, but I talked with other players about him. They all said he was a great leader that made everyone on the team believe they could win. Further, Rice football consistently loses money and there are always movements to get rid of the program, point being that any football player who doesn’t have his character together is gonna find himself applying to Div II schools very quickly.

I think we're moving up in the world.
Sweet. First mention on ESPN since Nam that didn’t involve coke, crack, weed, DUI, suckery, shitty fans, etc.
Kiper
is the most overrated guy around the NFL.
Maybe he start the draft as show, but lately he is a joke, with his “great options” (Just two word to remind: Jason Taylor..) and his (lack) of knowledge(Cox)

i hate the way that espn suits talk
it makes me want to have their sources so i can deliver news to myself

At least McShay isn't as likely to give you nightmares from his looks

They both suck
If my son grows to have Kiper hair, I would hold him down and break out the clippers!
In the 2nd round( after the jags pick) ESPN gave a wideshot of the analysts, anybody catch the stack of books and notes that Kiper had in front of him; all that and still not worth a crap!
Everybody knows when he's coming to town
They're locking the doors
And they don't make a sound
People want him dead but he won't die yet
First he's got to live
With all the things that he did

Oh come on
Mel knows his stuff, he was the one who told the world first that Mike Williams will be a hall of famer. He sure nailed Marshall Faulk too when he said he wasn’t worth the number 2 pick, and Matt Hasselbeck when he said he was a waste of a 6th rounder.
Mel obviously knows his stuff, why else would espn pay him when he has never played, coached or scouted on any level?
Also, Vic Carucci is chatting live right now on NFL.com
Here was his answer to one of the questions:
Peter, New York 02:19 PM ET
In your opinion what teams did the best with their draft picks overall? Vic Carucci, Senior Writer, NFL.com
Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, Colts, Giants, Jaguars, and Vikings had among the better drafts, I thought. All either addressed needs or maximized the volume of their choices through smart trading.
Jarrett Dillard
As a Rice Owl alum I have followed Dillard during his college career. Check out the video on YouTube where his highlights from the Texas Bowl 2008 agst. Western Michigan are shown. His 360 degree catch, between two defenders, on a down-and-out that was thrown behind him is amazing. He gets 2 feet in bounds. At the end of the video, he is shown tracking down a defender who had intercepted a pass in front of him. Great vertical ability, great hands, great character, great leadership. I wish him the best as a Jaguar.
