The Jags must sign Eugene Monroe early!
If the Jets strike a deal with Mark Sanchez before the Jags get ink from Eugene Monroe, they could hurt themselves bad financially. The Jets will give out ridiculous money for rookie contracts as we all know. Like they played a part in stunting Derrick Harvey's signing last year by driving up the price at pick 6 with Vernon Gholston, they are in position to do that again with Sanchez.
Please Wayne and Gene, get this guy signed asap so we can have him when camp starts!

Luckily
he’s a QB so it will be hard to use it as a baseline for our contracts. Last year Gholston was also a DL.

Unless Eugene wants a deal early
Hs agent won’t want to sign until the pieces fall into place. Part of the problem is somewhere after Matt Stafford’s contract there is a crash back to earth. The agents want that crash to occur after pick 10 and as late as possible. The GM’s want it early.
Last year the Jets screwed it all up and will again this year. If number 5 gets 20% more than last year, the drop off back to earth is delayed.

Agreed. I hope they can get the jump on the Jets.
Jacksonville should be light years of where they were last year dealing with the eighth overall pick. Considering they had the eighth overall pick later year they should have a good baseline (their own) to start negotiations.
Jacksonville Jaguars. It's what I do.

And they know what can offer
to Monroe, not like last year. Give a little more then they gave to Harvey and it is a done deal, in my opinion!

Fortunately I Think we can withstand a holdout with Tra Thomas and Eben Britton going to camp. I think the jaguars have plenty of leverage on this one

I found this story
Talks about him and his little known agent Sanat Shah

Great find!
This guy continues to impress me. Gene and the boys really did a fantastic job, and it looks like it’s gonna pay big dividends.
He seems like a no nonsense kind of guy, and after reading this article, I see him in the fold at the start of camp.

This agent stuff isn't good news
An agent with one client trying to make a name for himself is not usually a great negotiating situation. The only positive I can determione is it will be easier for Eugene to stay engaged with the process and call a halt to it faster than Derrick Harvey did.

That's exactly what I was thinking.
If he wants to be in camp he will. You’re right though about the inexperience of the agent. Here’s to hoping Monroe gets a fair deal.

Pick 8
This is actually a good place to draft someone because, last year, the Jaguars negotiated the contract in this same spot. They were responsible then and they can simply work from that as a baseline instead of working from what the Jets do at pick 5. I hope that this will get him in camp earlier than Harvey last year.

The Jaguars also have all the leverage
They don’t absolutely NEED Monroe in camp like they needed Harvey. They can just point to Tra Thomas and be like, there’s our guy, when do you want to start earning some money?
