Wow! What an offseason!

The Jacksonville Jaguars, definitely my favorite team, has had a pretty good offseason:  We hired a GM, released a few dead weight players (and a Jaguar legend), picked up and signed good role players and more is sure to come.

I am excited about what the Jags are doing this offseason more than any other one.  I can remember last year when all the Super Bowl hype was at its height.  Vic Ketchman even got into the foray. We were blindsided by injuries along with internal strife.

This offseason has been a relatively quiet one from a media standpoint, but the TRUE fan sees such promise from our franchise.  Gene Smith has a backbone (does he have a heart?)  as evidenced by his releasing of Fred Taylor and the releasing of Matt Jones, Jerry Porter, and Drayton Florence.  Gene has also shown that he is a shrewd GM.  Notice all the buzz concerning Matt Sanchez.  Now don't you think that he has something up his sleeve?  Wining and dining a player doesn't always mean that you will draft him.  I can hear it now, "There has been a trade of the 8th pick of the draft."  It really doesn't matter who we get, rest assured that the person will play at a high level and have high character.  When have we ever said anything like that?  I have also been a fan of the resigning of Meester, Starks, Owens... guys who LOVE football and just want to play the game.  Looking forward to seeing MJD signed before the draft.

Next, I am looking forward to the draft.  We have nine picks that we will surely get a wide receiver, defensive tackle, left tackle and a quarterback.  Our cupboard will not be bare once our GM gets it together.

Even more than that... look at all the posts on this website.  I didn't know there were so many passionate and knowledgeable Jaguar fans out there.  This is what I was looking for to get my Jaguar fix.  I can't also forget about the uniform change.

I have a lot more to say, but will leave you with this thought:  I think we are finally getting something we have been looking for since the inception of the franchise:  AN IDENTITY!

Hope you all enjoy the read.  Does anyone out there feel like me?
