The Indianapolis Colts select Evander Hood, Defensive Tackle for Missouri. Although the Colts and Bill Polian love to surround Peyton with ever-fresh talent, Polian knows that there is a dire need to fill he gaping hole at Defensive Tackle. With many of the top rated wide receivers and defensive tackles off the board, the Colts pull the trigger on Evander Hood, in hopes that he may be the weight that tips the scales regarding their lackluster rush defense. Hood weighs in at 298 lbs and is 6"3. Not only is Hood a good run-stuffer, but he fits into the Colts defensive system in that he is explosive, and quick off the line. He ran a 4.97 40 at the combine, but is known to have run around 4.7 as of late. He locates the ball carrier well, and although his specialization and technique could use some fine tuning, the Colts will be glad to see Hood as their first round pick.
