Wait. Oh yeah. Wait.
These rookies look amazing. Wait. Oh yeah. Chad Owens. Wait.
Rob Meier is a beast. Wait. He's starting now? Oh.
Man. Patience hurts, but promise tastes so good. Young legs with spit-shined morals feel better than a quick tequila and Advil shot, but wait, something's missing, right?
Are we missing pads? Are we missing opposing players who have similarly improved? Are we missing game situations, with referees, with opposing crowds? And where's Jackson deVille? Did he work out over the offseason too? Is he training with Luke?
Yet, newness rules. As does shopping for groceries when hungry.
All seems well. We've brought in Boy Scouts who have actually climbed the mountain and come down with the flag. But this is a different mountain.
Until the pads come out, their mountains were merely hills. And as fans, we're stuck. We have to wait.
Oh yeah. Now I remember. Chad Owens.

Why do people feel the need..
to try and temper other peoples enthusiasm ?
What’s wrong with being excited ? We’ll be able to temper our excitement during the preseason if it’s necessary, and especially after the first month of the season.

I try not to
but other people’s enthusiasm infects me sometimes. And we are just trying to watch out for one another, at least I do.

yeah
It feels like maybe it’s a little too much sometimes. There’s a lot of work to be done.

Balance is nice.
With both perspectives we can form a pragmatic idea of our team. I love me some pragmatic stuff.

Balance is necessary.
I love the Jags. But, too much “ra ra” makes us look silly.
This one really put me over the top [excerpt from a recent post on this site]
Nathan Brown!!!!!!
I am going back on record as I did before the draft and say it again…..Nathan Brown was the best QB in the draft!!!! Now he is with the JAGS!!!!! This dude is a real QB!!!
OK! For real. Nathan Brown didn’t last more than five practices with this team. He was cut.
The NFL is tough and unpredictable. But I love it when the Jags win. And that’s about it.
The Teal and Black are comin' back!

You guys will see... one day Nathan Brown will make us pay for cutting him!

Is the one who thinks he can.

Jags not there yet
From what i see the Jags could compete for the crown but we still have a ways to go its hard to go from bottom of the barrel to the king of the roost overnight and one draft class isn’t going to take care of it all. Just as we have gotten better other teams around us have too To me the most improved in the division is a tie between the Jags and the Texans. Indy will be Indy but they are slowing starting to digress. Tenn is too. if the Jags can stay healthy and stay out of trouble next year they will be a team to be reckoned with next season. But we must take care of fundamentals such as tackling well. putting the ball away and holding it with two hands catching the ball avoiding penalties etc because not doing so has allowed teams like INDY to kill us. We do that the jags will be the lead dog with Colts, Titans and Texans admiring the rear view come December

Well dude
I’ll be the only one to say it, I guess. I thought your post was quite cleverly written. Had a little poetic vibe to it while still getting the point across. Nice perspective, too. I’ve been trying to calm my excitement here recently, because I know we all get hyped up on new players every year. Will this year be different? Well, I tend to think it will. I think we actually got some real value in the draft. Where as one maybe two guys each season have excited me, I’m excited about the whole class this year. One or two guys have to be hits at least. I think it’s safe to say we can expect big things from Monroe and Britton already without being disappointed. But what about the rest of them? Well, if we get one or two more dynamic impact players from the bunch, I’ll be more than pleased. First draft, 4 quality players? That’s a huge success in one years draft, imo.
My two nickels.

Good read man
I think this team, this year, will be a success on both sides of the ball; bottom line.
Its just fun to get excited, especially after the past 2 seasons, about the progression that has happened on paper and now we have to wait and see what the final product looks like on the field. So in the meantime this great site will be buzzing like Bee’s at Honey convention!
Everybody knows when he's coming to town
They're locking the doors
And they don't make a sound
People want him dead but he won't die yet
First he's got to live
With all the things that he did

I don't think
thats bad to get excited this time of year. Its more of a wakeup call that football is getting ready to gear up again and get fans thinking about the new season. We shouldn’t go absolutely crazy, but theres nothing wrong with being excited about new blood coming in. I mean, what else are Lions fans suppose to look forward too?
