Jaguars sign Quarterback Todd Boeckman, former Ohio State QB

The Jaguars signed two players to their roster and waived one, all rookies, this afternoon. Quarterback Todd Boeckman and wide receiver Andy Strickland were added, and wide receiver Jason English was waived.
Boeckman, 25, attended Ohio State where he was a team captain and threw for 31 touchdowns. He played in 27 games, completing 255 of 402 passes (63.4%) for 3,041 yards. The 6-5, 243-pound Boeckman was a full-time starter as a junior in 2007, earning first team All-Big Ten honors after leading the conference in passing efficiency. He started the first three games of his senior season last year before Terrelle Pryor took over as the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback. Boeckman, who is from St. Henry, Ohio, received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State in March of last year.

Just FYI
Thanks cliff1982 for the story, I just posted it on the outside for all. “Jaguars added another QB for depth , a rookie from Ohio State named Todd Boeckman, not to be confused with Todd Bouman. They also waived Jason English and added Andy Strickland. That didn’t take long..”

I wouldn't call it losing the QB job exactly....
Wasn’t Pryor rated the #1 high school signing in the country? I really can’t stomach the Buckeyes, but did see a few of their games. I think it was more of a case that the fans wanted to get the freshman seasoned and Boeckman was a senior on his way out. Boeckman was a passer and Pryor had the threat of run/pass.

I Don't See
Why Ohio State didn’t redshirt Pryor. Pryor is an outstanding player, but he could have really benefited from a year to take it slow, while the team still had a serviceable quarterback to at least get them into a BCS bowl contention.

As Vic said
It wouldn’t surprise me to learn Pryor was promised the starting job as part of his commitment to Ohio St.
