WildJag?
I just sat through Vic's BRUTAL Inside the OTA's video segment but as bad as it was, he mentioned the Jags are working on their version of the Wildcat formation. Vic said they were using Montell Owens and Zach Miller as the up back. Are we too late to the Wildcat party? Is it a good idea for the Jags to be working on this new wrinkle in their offense? Do you think we'll actually use it in games? What are your thoughts on the WildJag formation?

Not a Vic fan?
Dirk Koetter told Paul Kuharsky not to get too excited about it. It’s more for the defense than the offense.
I think we will use it in games
Partly because during the early off season I heard someone in the Jaguars coaching staff saying they were going to run it and run it with MJD. I don’t think that means other people like Miller and Owens wont run it too.
It's a gimmick
And we all know JDR is not a coach who likes to run gimmicks. Run the ball, stop the run, control the clock, that’s Jaguar football. If we see it, I wouldn’t expect to see a lot of it.
Quote from Del Rio on Jaguars.com:
Del Rio also explained that Monday’s experimentation with the "wildcat" offense was with the intent of giving the defense a chance to defense it. "We wanted to get exposure to it on defense," Del Rio said.

I agree with most everything you said
I still think we will run it some.
The Wild Jag may be a gimmick, but it’s also running the ball. It says we are going to run the ball. You know it. We know it. We are going do it anyhow, and we are going to ram it down your throat.

Well we could derive some of those plays for use. I like to see the option once this year or MJD throwing a TD like LT.

Why the hell?
Why are people so enamored by the Wildcat?

Teams have figured out how to defend the Wildcat. This is merely a fad. There will be a few teams, maybe even the Jags, that call a couple of Wildcat plays next year. And every time fans will freak out (OMG IT’S THE WILDCAT!!!!!), tv commentators will state the obvious (the goal of the Wildcat is to move the ball towards the endzone), and defenses will smile…“32 ain’t gonna throw the ball.” Gimmick. I’ll pass. Run the ball for 4 yards and a cloud of dust and I’ll be thrilled.
Ignore the hype; look at the results.
We should call it
The WildSex and replace all the football players with strippers. That will sell tickets.

I think the wildcat is awesome - it will give tebow a place to go to and we can be more like the gators.
PS
we will also sell out games because we will have tebow (never mid our record) it’s tebow man tebow. tebow will be like a gator in jag uniform. we need tebow, we must have tebow, tebow will win a national title for the jags also.

Bitter
Every FSU fan I know speaks along the same thread. Your school’s football team sucks, get over it. On November 28th Tebow will break your heart again. That’s life, bud. You win some you lose some…well mostly you lose. Sorry.

I rest my case
More. My case has a whole weeks rest. It will never need to sleep again. It makes your case look like insomnia. What do you think of that? huh?! You like that? I love it!

I laughed at that "tebow will win a national title for the jags"
Spoken with utter sarcasm while sounding just like every Tebow-loving Gator fan who are hanging on his every nut hair.
My point exactly -
look, Tebow is a fantastic college QB, but he does NOT have NFL game . The “gator fan first” crowd I find (on the whole but there are exceptions) tend to be somewhat ignorant of the NFL game and want every player who wears the orange and blue to play for jags as the next greatest thing since sliced bread. They’re really blinded by their college passion to true NFL player analysis.
Here, we are JAGS fans first — JAGS FANS. That means that college affiliation is completely unimportant – how a particular player translates to the NFL game is what matters and nothing else. Some just do NOT get that.

You can still have a favorable opinion of Tebow,
and isn’t because of him being a gator. You could like him because he was a heismen trophy winner or that you think he’s the best Qb thats coming out next year. There are people who like Tebow for other reasons than his choice of college. I could bet if he had gone to FSU there be quite a few people pulling the Tebow card every now and then. Sarcasm is great when it makes sense and isn’t based on a stereotyical idea.

yeah, same here for the sarcasm… hard to tell sometimes in typewritten form… go Teeboob!

You're picking on a kid
You don’t even know. I like that trait in a man. Do you hit girls too? HA! I kid, bud. Screw you, Tebow! See? I’m just one of the gang. I fit in.

For example
Here I said, “I kid”. Not because I thought you might believe that I thought you hit girls…I was obviously joking. I said it to take the sting of the blow. Honestly, I suppose that given the admission by so many that they cannot decipher sarcasm, I wanted to be clear with my words. I apologize if I’ve offended you. C’est la vie.

On a more serious note...
This is not directed at only you cuffs; I’ve seen it said several times over the past week that sarcasm is lost in type. How so? Words have the power to paint the most illustrative pictures. Sarcasm or any sentiment is easily conveyed and deciphered in print. Have we not been reading for all but 3 or maybe 4 years of our lives? By now reading comprehension should be as passe as using a toilet. Understanding comes with wisdom. Both stem from thinking…So, when in doubt about the meaning of a statement, try to reread it. Use your context clues, pair that with the associated comments, and think about what you’ve read. You’ll get it.

Nice. I thought I was done with school, but thanks for the lesson anyhow. I’m sure you read that i said SOMETIMES, right? Not knowing the people on this forum personally, it can be tough once in a while to tell if they’re telling a joke. It’s not easily determined by reading their statement over again. But, it is easier for someone to just say “Hey, I was being a smartass.” Must be nice way up there in your castle.

HAHA!
It is, it is. Come on up, it’s a fine view. Listen, I’m just trying to help. I invite correction on any level. Be it punctuation, spelling, or in theory. That’s what makes us better. Men acting as steel on steel. To sharpen one another. I want to be better, so I invite correction. It’s called being “teachable”. The only reason that sarcasm should be lost in translation is if the speaker has done a poor job of expressing themselves. Punctuation and connotation should be sufficient in expressing every emotion. It’s as simple as that. If someone has to say, “I’m being sarcastic”, they need to work on their sarcasm. As well as their writing style.

Well the gators have won college's "superbowl"
So tebow has done something
"HULU: An evil plot to destroy the world. Enjoy"
FSU had its run of wins in the past along with domination,
It just so happens they suck now and the gators have one of the better college Qbs along with a matured and intact defense, so they are force to spit out questionable logic like drew weatherford threw INTs.
"HULU: An evil plot to destroy the world. Enjoy"
That translation is correct
Tho wonderland is a great vacation place, at least for me
"HULU: An evil plot to destroy the world. Enjoy"
I was thinking about this, and it's really not a big deal.
Instead of the Wildcat people are obsessing over, why don’t more teams use direct snaps to playmakers? That’s the basic principle behind the Wildcat: get the ball to your playmakers and shift the defense away from them. Well, teams like Chicago can certainly benefit, seeing as how players like Devin Hester can pick up a few dozen yards every time he gets some room to run. Furthermore, it saves some time, and that equates to less reaction time for the defense. Most importantly, opponents will waste time preparing for the Wildcat, and defenders will second guess themselves. I’m all for that.
Something that should be considered
Is that fact that we’ll be playing Miami this year. Preparation is key, for a scenarios.
Vae victis!
Yeah, as it is for every other team because everyone will be running some form of the Wildcat.
But from an offensive perspective, there’s really nothing wrong with it either.
