Too many Underwear League Champions of the Past.

How many years have we heard in OTA's and even mini camps that the offense is going all gang-busters on the D and we are looking like the Greatest Show on Turf pt Deux. I remember hearing this in the Musgrave through Smith eras. All Im saying is be reasonable, we can't put all the stock in the world in 9 or so drafted rookies and a few undrafted guys to be our saviors. Patience is going to be key. I am very optimistic in this thing being turned around and like Big John said, "I'M IN!!" but lets wait for the pads to go on to start screaming this rookie revival thing.

I think a significant number of rookies will be starting this season.

At least one offensive lineman
At least 2 WR’s
At least 1 DT
maybe one DB
that’s not counting contributors on special teams and nickel et

There is a rookie revival, which is why I think expecting the playoffs isn’t realistic. .500 is sufficient to save everyone’s job and add one more year to this contraption Gene is building.

I'm guessing you mean

those are rookies that will contribute, not start.

I think that's a fair clarification...

Make significant contributions I would say best describes it.

We may agree to disagree...

Well I agree with the Oline he is a number 8 overall pick
2 WRs starting, what kind of spread sets are you looking at us running, Barring injury Big Game and Mike have one and 2 locked up I expect Troy and either a rook or Northcutt to get the axe because we will probably only carry 5 recievers
The DT spot is going to be a revolving door

I expect alot of rookies to make this roster and play well in spots, I can’t say they are the missing key that The phrase Rookie Revivial states.

Agree with the underwear league mentality.

But this is clearly a rebuilding year and most likely, the rebuilding will take at least one or two more seasons. I agree with Collin that we will probably see a several 1st and 2nd year guys starting. It will take time to develop the young talent but tis team must get younger.

i understand that but.......

we still got the same core guys. playoffs is going to be on the shoulders of, d-line and WRs, the #2 corner is going to be no worst than any other corner we had here in the last few yrs. plus we got the ball hawk reggie nelson back there thats probably going to be shadowing derek cox alot. we got veteran torry holt thats more than likely going to produce so to realistically shoot for wild card in still realistic, and to shoot for more than .50 is def. realistic, not only that but look at whos in our division the old colts that lost half of their coaching staff. titans who lost alot of defence, and with a startin 90 yr old QB that got on a hot streak last season, and i dont think he will be any where near the level he was last year, and the titans, who is i think the scariest in our division right now, but you never know what their bringing because they lack consistancy

AFC South

I enjoy ya passion but although i dont agree on all points. Believe me I do have realistic hopes for this team but us having a great spring has not shown me we are a 10+ win team.

We have been calling the Colts old the last 2 to 3 years and they have strung together 10+ win seasons again and again. Playing them close every year is cute but its Ws and Ls that make or break you in this league.

Tennesse is going to be interesting without Big Al in the middle but that is still a high quality defense with a pro-bowl secondary, mean rush ends, and a very solid LB core. We are gonna have to stop their running attack as well.

Houston is a puzzle i can’t ever figure out. Dont let me get started on last yrs Monday nighter..

All in all im looking for a more consistent tough rugged team next year. I dont care about all that character and locker room crap. I like everyone would love to see the good ol days of #8 to #82 or Freddy T going 90 plus in the playoffs against the Fins, but lets be real with what up hill climb we have ahead of us. Patience and consistency is what we should be looking forward to. 10 wins may not be as elusive as it seems but we should get back to the ," Keep Chopping Wood" mantra..lets just hope no one takes a chunk outta there leg like mr Hanson did

I don't see any boom or bust picks

So i don’t think we’ll see any Busts, (comparing to RJ Soward or Matt Jones). I think the rookies can all contribute in good ways. Rookie Revival may be too strong. Youth revival would probably be a Bullseye though.

I think that has more to do with the rounds that the positions have been drafted at.

Early rounds linemen seldom fail, while late round receivers benefit from low expectations. Derek Cox and Terrance Knighton are the only ones that are in danger of being labeled “busts” because of their third/future second round draft positions. Basically, if you took Matt Jones’s or Reggie Williams’s stats from the past few years, and swapped them out with a late round receiver, they’d be seen as solid picks. That’s why it’s safer to pick up linemen early, and pick up receivers late.
