Predicted Depth Chart for 2009

I am just going around trying to get people's impressions of who will be starting where for the 2009 NFL season come week 1.  Any information you can give about any position would be great, and it would be even better if you could break it down by all positions.   I am just curious to see how many positions are pretty much a lock and how many are still up in the air?  Here is my preliminary depth chart from what I've read.  Please let me know any errors I have in judgement or positions that are wrong.  There are still some big holes in this chart, but if there are people that need to be added, let me know and I will add them.

thanks

I didn’t see it on there earlier, guess I just overlooked it. I will be adding him.

I was about to ask the same thing.

And where’s Montell Owens? Just because Vic does a piece on Brock Bolen doesn’t mean he beats Owens for the backup FB job.

rumors

stating that Eugene Monroe is shining so brightly that Tra Thomas will be released come the beginning of the season.

Better?

Is he a lock for a roster spot? Is he better than Brock Bolen?

Yes I know there should be a whole lot more players, I just don’t have this chart finished yet.

I see

5-6 receivers on our roster by the way and not so many running backs, anyways I’ll comment when you finish.

Why is a Colt fan

making a depth chart for us?

by JagHack on Jun 10, 2009 7:33 AM EDT reply actions

lol because no jags fans have yet

If you can find someone on your site who would be willing to do it, I would much rather see yours than mine, because obviously you know more about your team than I do.

Someone did one a month or so back.

I can’t remember who, but it’s there.

He did as good job as many on the depth chart,

well at least for a colts fan.

Maybe

The reason we haven’t is because we’re still in OTA’s. There’s no point to this now. It’s June. It’s the underwear league. Give us a week, after the pads go on and we’ll have a better idea. This is just dead zone fodder.

I’m also curious as to where you heard this rumor about Tra Thomas.

why would we cut him anyways?

he doesnt make that much and no one else other than him and monroe can play LT. So why would we put all of our stock into a rookie and what if monroe got injured? No depth at the position, didnt we find out how bad that was last year?

also i think considine is a SS

You're right

I don’t think stuart did much (if any) research before making this thing.

by JagHack on Jun 10, 2009 12:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Hey

he must have done some research.
I would imagine it would be hard to make one for another team.
I think we take our own team knowledge for granted.

Mike Thomas WR

Needs to be in there, probably before Dillard.
Maurice Williams will probably be the starting RG, with Pashos being his back up and Britton’s backup.
I would switch Mincey and Groves. Groves is a right side guy.
At DT I think Landri will be a starter, but if not he will be the first off the bench.
At linebacker, the first guy off the bench will be Brian Iwuh. I think people after him are fighting for roster spots.
Considine will be the first string SS. With Brian Williams as a possible back up.
Scott Starks will probably be the 4th CB, making him the NB if Williams moves to SS.

by Ewdtrey on Jun 10, 2009 5:32 PM EDT reply actions

i agree

with almost everything. It still worries me a little having rookie bookends. I see them both starting by the end of the year, but i dont know on opening day. I think Britton could be great, but i think it would be a mistake with the way our schedule opens. I see Tony staying at RT for the first few weeks of the reg season. And im just speculating, its to early to tell.
I like Estandia, then Angulo at the TE position
I think Tra Thomas does not move around too much, just insurance at LT, which is fine with me.
I think the preseason will go along way towards whether Spoon stays or not, it could depend on how far he has come with his coverage skills

I think

Estandia and Angulo aren’t really one in front of the other. They are different players. Estandia is a receiver/special teamer, and Angulo is a blocking TE.
As for the rookie OT’s, Tra will be harder to pass on t6he depth chart than Pashos.
I would be devastated if Spoon gets cut.

Why Do the Tackles Worry You?

If they win the job in camp, and prove they are better than Tra Thomas and Tony Pashos respectively, it shouldn’t worry you. I’ll be worried if sorry ass Pashos is in the lineup week one. Him against Robert Mathias, no thank you…

I think his return abilities should keep him on the roster. He’s currently the fastest player and most capable returner on the Jaguars. Also, he improved at corner late last season.
