Jags Sign Mike Thomas
Wide receiver Mike Thomas became the Jaguars' second draft pick to come to terms Thursday when he agreed to a four-year deal with a $507,450 signing bonus.
Thomas also will receive the minimum salaries of $310,000, $385,000, $480,000 and $565,000.
Thomas was drafted in the fourth round by the Jaguars.
The other player that was previously signed was sixth-round pick Zach Miller, a quarterback being converted to tight end.
Thomas, who played at Arizona, is noted for his speed. He ran a 4.29 40-yard dash at the combine.
"He’s eager to get started and be the guy in the slot and to be a return guy for them,’’ his agent, Ronald Slavin, said.
The slot job is open now that Dennis Northcutt has been traded to the Lions.
Thomas dropped to the fourth round because he’s 5-8, but Maurice Jones-Drew wasn’t hampered by being 5-7 in the pros.
Slavin also noted he’s a 200-pounder with good lower body strengt
