Around SBN: This Should Encourage Juan Mata

Looking forward to this season? I am.

Let me tell you that i am pumped for Jaguars football this season. There will be some very fun to watch games and if you haven't already gotten your TV to record them, I suggest taking a minute and doing it now. I'm going to put on my thinking cap and predict Wins and Losses along with a little fantasy tidbits. Hope you'll keep reading on and when your finish offer up some predictions, thoughts, or anything else worth talking about, Go Jags!

Star-divide

Preseason

@Miami (Predicted as a W, turned out as a L)

Prediction: Well i can't predict on this since its already over with but i'll tell you what i thought would be the score before hand. Jaguars 24 - Dolphins 17. I thought our O-Line was good and we had some quality backups, i'll leave ya'll with your thoughts on what actually turned out. Fantasy: I will say that Ted Ginn Jr. looks worthy of a pick and if you're in the mood, QB Chad Henne, lots of upside.

Tampa (W)

Prediction: Jaguars win 17-12. It'll be interesting to see all the QBs competing for TB's starting quarterback job, along with the rookies Qb they got from the draft. I see this as another experiment with people game. They have a pretty good D line with the likes of Chris hovan and a secondary with Aqib Talib as CB.  As for fantasy purposes, i think Derrick Ward, ex-giants RB, he is a powerful running back and he'll score some touchdowns. We'll also see the return of Lord Byron.

@Eagles (L)

Prediction: Eagles 24 - Jaguars 13. I really like the Eagles draft, Maclin was a bargain and the Eagles were happy to oblige, Mcnabb will have another target along with Kevin Curtis and Westbrooke. LeSean Mccoy also is a interesting RB, who can help get Westbrooke in the game longer this season. Heres comes the good part, Micheal Vick. PETA, Dog Lovers, and countless other hate him while others are indifferent or feel he's remorseful, we get to see him as a Eagle and see if he's still in football shape even after his vacation in the Brig. Fantasy players: Westbrooke has been a multi-dimenisonal RB but he has nagging injuries, if you need a RB and the price is right pull the trigger. Also Maclin looks like a rookie you should watch, he;s been raved by people in the city of Brotherly Love. He is a excellent flex option. Also remember that Ingram, their rookie TE is hurt so i'll advise against picking him up, I believe he is on the IR list, if you are in a keeper leauge he might be worth a pick.

Redskins (W)

Prediction: Jaguars 21 - Redskins 10. The redskins have a decently good Qb in Jason Campbell who i've come to feel as under-rated. I think this game will look appealing to the eyes. I feel like our backups will feel the pressure to show that they deserve roster spots and will come the occasion. Redskin's valuable fantasy player, Clinton Portis, he can be very good this season and will be worth the faith, tier 2 RB or a very good flex option.

Preseason Record: 2-2.

Regular Season

Week 1 @Colts (W, but really its a Toss-up)

Prediction: Jaguars 24 - Colts 21. I think this'll be one of the happiest times of this season. The Jaguars play either unusually good or just absolutely horrible against divisonal rivals. I think the running game will save us along with a touchdown pass or two. The Colts will be completeing passes and converting 3rd downs but a Jaguars field goal in the last seconds will spell their doom this week. Fantasy players: Dallas Clark, He gets more touchdown this year with marvin harrison out.

Week 2 Arizona (L)

Prediction: Arizona 35-  Jaguars 24. Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald will be lighting up the Pass Defense. Rashean Mathis will have trouble sticking to Fitzgerald and unless Boldin is traded so will Derek Cox/Brian Williams. Arizona will have a good fantasy day today. Fantasy Warning: Kurt Waner may have juiced all the fantasy out of him this year and may lay a Brett Favre season, starting strong then fading away, I don't like Kurt this year but if you have to draft him he'll help you a little.

Week 3 @Texans (L)

Prediction: Texans- 27 - Jaguars 21. The Jaguars D Line should have a good day, get a couple quarterback pressures and cause some balls to get thrown away. The Pass defence is suspect and should continue to gel. Fantasy: Steve Slaton should have a repeat good year. Houston should finally rise over the .500 mark this season and steve will bring TDs as long as he's on the field.

Week 4 @Titans (L)

Prediction: Titans 24 - Jaguars 16. The Jaguars will be fighting a uphill battle all game and will falter on their last drive to tie the game with a touchdown. The Titans will be weak in the middle thanks to Albert Haynesworth departure, the Jaguars will capatilize and MJD will have a 100+ yard game. Fantasy: Kerry Collins, I would warn against having Collins as a back up. This year will be similar to the one Garrard had last year and the Titans hopes for playoff rest directly on RB Chris Johnson to score touchdowns. I'd also advise to take Rob Bironas this year as he's a dependable K on a team that should do more field goals since their Strength of schedule is harder this year.

Week 5 @Seahawks (W)

Prediction: Jaguars 18 - Seattle 6. The Jaguars will have a physical game and will have alot of luck when it comes to 3rd down conversions. Harvey and Groves will each sack Seattle's QB before game's end. I will be watching Seattle's 1st round draft pick Aaron Curry, he was a favorite of mine in the draft and i think he'll become a pro-bowler. Fantasy: TJ "Whoseyourmomma" Houshmandzadeh should have a good year and is the best WR Seaatle has. When Seattle goes to pass he is the target and is a good #2 WR.

Week 6 Rams (W)

Prediction: Jaguars 27 - Rams 6. The Rams do not have Torry Holt this year and any link to the super bowl they went to a couple years ago is gone. This team is rebuilding still and lets be thankful we don't have as many ? marks that they do. This game will be 1 sided and will remind people of Jaguars=Winners. Fantasy: Steven Jackson should have a pretty good year this year thanks to an easy schedule. He also will be looked to score more TDs since future HOF WR Torry Holt went to Jacksonville. Steven Jackson can be picked in the 1st round or early 2nd, and can match production with play time.

Week 7 Titans (L)

Prediction: Titans 27 - Jaguars- 9. Josh Scobee will the highlight for the Jags this week, knocking down 2 40-49 yard, and 1 50+ field goals. The Titans will have their way on the outside and will run the ball efficiently and ruthlessly. The Jaguars will go back to practice with plenty of tape. Titans Fantasy:  Vince Young, after last years imitation of Brittany Spears gone wild, will stay a backup. He should not be considered to start and Collins should stay healthy as long as he hands off the ball to Chris Johnson. Stay Away from this Quarterback, kay?

Week 8 Chiefs (W)

Prediction: Jaguars 31 - Chiefs 19. Jaguars win against another rebuilding team, Matt Cassell will not be the same Qb he was at NE, Dwayne Bowe will be the main WR and passing target since Tony Gonzalez left for Atlanta. Jaguars have a fun home game. Fantasy: Read above.

Week 9 @NY Jets (W)

Prediction: Jaguars 24 - Jets 17. The Jets have WR depth concerns and have a rookie QB leading their offense. Their two RBs are in  contract negotiations and one of them may get traded. It will be a almost evenly matched game but jaguars win thanks to a slightly more potent offense. Fantasy: Be weary when it comes to drafting Leon Washington or Thomas Jones, one of them could get traded. If you have to pick one I guess i'd go with Leon washington even though i like Thomas Jones. Mark Sanchez shouldn't be expected to do a Matt Ryan and should do alot of learning this year.

Week 10 Buffalo Bills (W)

Prediction: Jaguars 21- Bills 14. The Bills have a big ? mark on the offensive line after trading away their probowler LT Jason Peters, they also have T.O. but i think we all know what happens. The Jaguars will make bad plays but will still Win. Fantasy: Lee Evans (WR), is a decent WR#2 or flex option and should go around where Anthony Gonzalex and Torry Holt go, somewhere in between. I think he'll have a decent season and can be an asset.

Week 11 @San Francisco 49ers (W)

Prediction: Jaguars 27 - 48ers 21. The Jaguars migrate all the way to the other side of the USA to play against a team with a good coach but suspect defence and edgy offense. As most of you know Micheal Crabtree is threatening to hold out indefinately and either way his value even in keeper leagues is greatly undermined. San Fran has had weak Qbs ever since Steve Young went to become a football Analyst. Fantasy: Fran Gore should have a good season this year and will be a Top 15 RB. He's a great RB#2 and even better flex option.

Week 12 Houston Texans (L)

Prediction: Texans 24 - Jaguars 10. Andre Johnson will break some tackles and have some big catches, Steve Slaton will the run the ball in one or twice also. The Jaguars will be thankful for the points they got and will have increasing faith in Troy Williamson as a reciever. Fantasy: Matt Schaub should have a better year this year, thanks to Steve Slaton and Andre Johnson life is easier for Matt, he's a good #2 Qb on your roster.

Week 13 Miami Dolphins (L)

Prediction: Miami 24 - Jags 21. Miami will win because of Pat White and other contributors on the offense and on defense, Joey Porter. The game will be a nail biter, and I suggest pausing the game to breathe some deep breaths from time to time. Torry Holt and the Wrs will have a good game but in the end it will not be enough for a Jaguars victory against the Phins. Fantasy: Anthony Fasano is a intruiging #2 TE or bench TE. He gets a fair number of TD looks and the Offense usually gets more time on the field thanks to their Defense.

Week 14 Indianapolis Colts (L)

Prediction: Colts 28 - Jags 13, The Colts will be ultilizing Addai and their impressive complement of WRs. Gonzalez along with Dallas Clark will be impressive in the passing game. Addai should be healthy thanks to the rookie that they drafted this year. I expect Bob Sanders and other components of the Colts D to be healthy by this time. Fantasty: Anthony Gonzalez looks to have more catches due to Marvin Harrison's departure, that also means an increase in TDs. On your draft sheets make sure to keep an eye on him because he has wonderful potential in the potent Colts Offense.

Week 15 @New England Patroits (L)

Prediction: Patroits 32 - Jaguars 17. Tom Brady will play against us barring another freak injury. With that said I think Brady will muster up a win for the Pats. The jaguars will get some opportunities to score but will have to settle for a field goal, this game will show how much farther we have to go. Fantasy player: Tom Brady, in regards to drafting him, I'd suggest considering him late first round to mid 2nd round. The reason why i talk about Brady is that some people really want him to be on their team but have difficulties when to pick him. Remember if you can't pick Brady, there's other suitable QBs, such as the under the radar Drew Brees who'll score bunches for you, if you don't think Drew Brees is under the radar then ask yourselve the top 3 QBs and you'll probably not think of him..

Week 16 @Cleveland Browns (L)

Prediction: Browns 21- Jaguars 20. The Browns will be passing to rookies Robiske and Massaquoi, and i think that they will have some success in the deep ball, The Jaguars will run up to a quick lead with MJD leading the way but will lose the game in 2 minute drill game winning drive. Fantasy: Other than the two rookie WRs said above, Brady Quinn is a very interesting choice. He is currently battling Derek Anderson for the starting Qb spot, and i feel that pressure from the fan base and good play by Quinn will land him the starting job, he also has the chance to throw alot of TDs with his rookie WRs. Quinn is a good sleeper to sit on.

Regular Season Record: 7-9, but with the NFL anything can happen, we could do a Miami Dolphins and go to 11-5 from 5-11. We'll miss the playoffs but we're rebuilding so I don't think its a big surprise.

agree with every word you just said except the expected record

7-9 or 6-10 is more realistic. But as with every football season – I can’t wait. The absolute greatest sport going – NFL football – can’t be touched.
